But, what makes this place so special, imho, is that is has Door#1 on the Game of Thrones Door tour and it was where some of the cast stayed during filming of Season 1, so they have a bunch of memorabilia. The manager and staff here are incredible! They were so welcoming and even though I had come to see the door, I didn't know about the Doors Passport where you can get a stamp for every door you visit! The manager shared their photobook from the GoT filming as well as let me get all costumed up. They have a GoT breakfast on certain days as well! I even had a half pint of their HoDoor beer! All in all, an incredible visit and pub! Definitely make this your first stop if you are doing the Doors or just to have a pint and a bite and talk with the amazing people running this place! In love with it!

With my girlfriend being a massive Game of Thrones fan, we wanted to stay at the B&B where some of…read morethe cast stayed during filming when we made our way over to Ireland for her birthday trip. Needless to say, she didn't need to twist my arm when I'm all about quaint B&Bs, especially those in small villages like Strangford, the location of The Cuan in Northern Ireland. To put my opinion simply, The Cuan was magical. Located in the small, coastal village of Strangford, The Cuan, is the embodiment of a quaint getaway, with warm hospitality and accommodations -- especially, if you are a GoT fan. You can say we did the GoT package when we were at The Cuan between the evening banquet, where we dressed up as Starks and ate a feast from stone slabs. We had pictures taken in front of one of the Doors of Thrones that's at The Cuan, entering the bar area, in Stark regalia. In addition to the lovely bedroom with windows that overlooked the center of the village, the bathroom had a nice tub, which was nice to have a proper shower and stretch out. We enjoyed the morning breakfast, where there were different items from which to choose, in addition to fresh bread and jams, as well as cereal and juice. My lady chose The Cuan due to many of the GoT cast staying here while filming the scenes for Winterfell at the Castle Ward park. We booked the archery and bike tours for Castle Ward at The Cuan, where we enjoyed seeing many of the filming locations, as well as having a picnic at Aubrey's Castle (scenes from the Walter Frey castle). The stay at The Cuan was a magical one, which we would come back, I'm sure, again and again. The staff was terrific, as was the being in such a lovely coastal village where we indeed were able to enjoy this holiday and celebrate my lady's birthday.

We stopped off in the restaurant/bar for a bite to eat which is divided into two halves. One side is casual with a T.V and lounge type seating, the other is fancier with white linen tablecloths and wine glasses. So depending on how you are feeling (or dressed) you can jump into either. The menu is the same for both places. I had the seabass which was cooked very well and top marks for presentation. It was pretty, I like pretty. However couldn't say the same for the burger, the cheese on top looked and tasted like it had been double deep fried and most definitely wasnt pretty. Cheese aside, the food was nice, the wine glasses very full and the service was very good.

It is small with only 15 or so rooms, though you would never think to look at it. The Millbrook was easily able to cater for over 100 people who were at the wedding. It is close enough to Belfast to suit most people, but far enough away to have a country vibe. The room itself was clean and comfortable and the staff were more than happy to let us have a late check out. My only complaint would be the staff at the breakfast who were less than helpful. We had to be asked twice in the half and hour that waited on breakfast what we had actually ordered. The staff forgot about us and served several other couples first. When I brought this to their attention there was not so much as an apology. Never the less, the cooked breakfast that we ordered finally arrived and it was fine.

And events at the hotel can be loud when you're looking for some peace and quiet in Dundalk. Breakfast was included with our room but it wasn't very impressive - some fried eggs gone cold on a buffet, limited healthy choices otherwise. Unfortunately, I had some bad luck when it came to my stay. When my plug adapter went missing, the hotel provided one. However, it didn't work. By the time I figured that out, it was too late at night to roll down to reception for another one so I just made do. A wedding at the event space meant that drunk partygoers were roaming the hotel grounds, singing and yelling, until the wee hours of the morning. Although I had booked a non-smoking room, and although I was thrilled that the window and balcony door could be opened to let in fresh air, my neighbor decided to smoke on his balcony (continuously) until 3 am. In a desperate attempt for sleep, I called the front desk. Once, the call rang without answer. And on the second try, they hung up on me. Great service and help, guys. I probably wouldn't stay here again.

The bathroom alone is larger than most rooms-particularly my last room in the UK. The gym was decently equipped and there is a wonderful heated indoor pool, with a jacuzzi and sauna. It would be nice if there were access to sound on the TV in the gym. I arrived after 11:00 pm and the front desk was there and ready to check me in. It only took a few minutes. I passed by a very lively bar area that goes until midnight I'm told. About to try the food. Breakfast was buffet style but everything replenished regularly and very fresh and delicious. Freshly fried eggs available how you like them. I have to mention that with all the positives, a couple of caveats. There is a golf course and working farms in the area. I was awakened each morning quite early by noises from surrounding properties. Lastly, I had the Di Not Disturb sign in my door but housekeeping went in anyway. I was told that calls to the room were made, a manager was notified and a supervisor accompanied the cleaning person. I was told this was policy. So, lesson learned. Let the hotel know in advance that you will not want room to be serviced.
