With my girlfriend being a massive Game of Thrones fan, we wanted to stay at the B&B where some of the cast stayed during filming when we made our way over to Ireland for her birthday trip. Needless to say, she didn't need to twist my arm when I'm all about quaint B&Bs, especially those in small villages like Strangford, the location of The Cuan in Northern Ireland. To put my opinion simply, The Cuan was magical.
Located in the small, coastal village of Strangford, The Cuan, is the embodiment of a quaint getaway, with warm hospitality and accommodations -- especially, if you are a GoT fan. You can say we did the GoT package when we were at The Cuan between the evening banquet, where we dressed up as Starks and ate a feast from stone slabs. We had pictures taken in front of one of the Doors of Thrones that's at The Cuan, entering the bar area, in Stark regalia.
In addition to the lovely bedroom with windows that overlooked the center of the village, the bathroom had a nice tub, which was nice to have a proper shower and stretch out. We enjoyed the morning breakfast, where there were different items from which to choose, in addition to fresh bread and jams, as well as cereal and juice.
My lady chose The Cuan due to many of the GoT cast staying here while filming the scenes for Winterfell at the Castle Ward park. We booked the archery and bike tours for Castle Ward at The Cuan, where we enjoyed seeing many of the filming locations, as well as having a picnic at Aubrey's Castle (scenes from the Walter Frey castle).
The stay at The Cuan was a magical one, which we would come back, I'm sure, again and again. The staff was terrific, as was the being in such a lovely coastal village where we indeed were able to enjoy this holiday and celebrate my lady's birthday. read more
