I'm new to this review lark but after our Fantastic stay with Maisie and John I just had to spread…read morethe word to our fellow tourists. We arrived at their doorstep bags in hands and were greeted firstly by the beautiful colourful array of flowers in their Garden and then by the smiling face of John. We were shown our room which was sooooo comfortable and homely we could have moved in permanently. Maisie and Johns hospitality and attention to detail were top Class. Also have to mention our full Irish Beakfast which was delicious and was served expertly by Maisie and Ann. It kept us fueled up until lunch time and by then we were in Carlingford enjoying the lovely selection of shops and yes you guessed it more food and a tipple or two. Mary & Norman

Located in town of Dundalk this is a good option if you want to be in walking distance (within a…read moremile)!of pubs and restaurants Only downside is that on site parking is very limited, we were able to park in front of the guest house (free overnight, pay during day). Our large nicely decorated king room (#84) was on the 2nd floor, it had a bay window facing the street, overall it was quiet during the night. The bathroom had a shower stall with excellent water pressure. Tea was provided in the room, WiFi and TV with Basic channels. Breakfast was good, although no black pudding.

My husband and I both got fish & chips which were great, and the kids got chicken nuggets and chips and pasta, great big portions and everything came very quickly (though we were having a pretty early dinner, around 5 pm). I was impressed that the pasta had a chunky homemade bolognese sauce on it. The beer menu seemed somewhat limited but that could also be due to Covid and how much they're able to supply at the moment. We sat in their outdoor seating area which is OK - they've definitely done their best to try and stay open and meet the restrictions! I think I will enjoy it better when the indoor dining reopens though as it's hard to make a tent attractive. This is a great little off-the-beaten-track place though and I do hope to be back soon.

Walking through the bar I was sure we were going to a seat at the back, away from the windows, but large double doors opened into a bright modern restaurant, with a wonderful view of the sea through windows that run the full length of the the dining area. The food was very nice, and the view and surroundings were pretty spectacular. The sun was shining, and two horses were cantering down the beach. We went for a stroll along the sea front after our meal. Very idyllic.

Service bit slow tbh but food in general makes up for that. And staff are lovely. Seating difficult for those with mobility issues and the layout is not exactly stroller or car seat friendly but nothing a bit of manoeuvring can't fix. Parking limited however a little trick is to leave car to car wash on main Lisburn road beforehand, just opposite Maryville Park for valet and collect it after. Parking issue solved.

The tea is all loose-leaf which I like better than the bags of tea so I was really excited about that. The breakfast was so good that we cleared it super fast--the Irish Breakfast and the Eggs Benedict. I think the sauce for the benedict is homemade as well because there was a mustard flavour in it that I am not used to. For afternoon tea we got sandwiches and scones (scones, by the way, are sitting on the first floor all day long so if you want one at 2am you can have one) and tones of cute desert items--meringue, two different types of cookies, and some moose. The staff were great and friendly and the whole place is very clean. If I come back to Belfast I would stay here again in a second!
