Another plus (to me) is the great music that is always playing when I'm perusing cards - it lightens the mood and enables you to fully take in all of their cards. Be sure to check the first shelf of cards when you walk through the door because a) they are relevant to the holiday/season and b) they are usually quite funny! The store does custom cards/invitations and it appears that they have a wide array available to choose from. Other custom items are stamps and letterpresses available for order. From the beginning, Maryanne was extremely accommodating, even inviting us into her home to discuss our needs, look over fonts and select ink colors. Our invitations were a bit delayed in being delivered from our vendor and we had to have all 141 Invitations in the mail in just 2 weeks, providing our guests the appropriate 30 days to RSVP. Maryanne was very up-front with us, letting us know that for 141 guests (282 envelopes essentially), she would typically ask for at least 3 weeks. We completely understood we gave her a tall order & worked to prepare everything else invitation-wise we possibly could to not further delay shipping. Our entire wedding planning process was flawless and it was looking like the most stressful part was going to be getting these invitations mailed in time ... Well, thank goodness for Maryanne. Since she is a total ROCKSTAR and completed all of our envelopes in just 9 DAYS, we were able to get our Invitations mailed right on time. We received so many compliments on her calligraphy & were told that it was the perfect accent to our pocket invitations. We can't even explain how huge of a blessing Maryanne was to us. Prices are on par with other independent bookstores. Service has always been great. Definitely worth a stop if you're in downtown Beverly!

I have now had two experiences with RUDE staff and owner. The first time, I asked if I could use a…read morepenny from the bowl at the register. The staff member said, "No. Those are for us". I questioned her and she got irritated with me. Still puzzled, I dropped it and just paid the girl with the snarl on her face. My change included 3 pennies which I added to the mystery bowl. Her face still blank. I left. Cut to today. I accidentally broke a candle in a glass jar. Bummer! I offered to sweep it up, pay for it, and apologized several times. She barely looked up as she swept. I get it. It's a total drag to cleanup a customer's mess. No one's happy in this situation. I off to pay again and got no reply. A few minutes later I purchased some items and AGAIN she was grimfaced. I apologized one last time. Looking away she said, "It was an expensive candle." So I stupidly offered to pay yet again and she said, "That would be nice". Then the owner appeared at the counter and was shuffling papers shuffling papers. No smile, no grace. I told her about the situation and she blankly said that would be nice if you paid. I think the whole situation was handled incorrectly. If "You break it You buy it" is your policy then put up a sign, or politely tell your customer who committed the outrageous sin. Horrible, horrible customer service.

Next, prices are very reasonable there, can pay by either cash or charge card. Also, there store is always kept very clean and items are well stocked in in the store. Last, the staff is awesome, very friendly group of people that work there, who are always very helpful and accomodating for anything you need help with there.
