We ordered two sandwiches, the Bambino which was a delicious classic Italian sandwich and equally delicious was the Paradiso. The sandwich bread is baked there and it's perfectly crunchy on the outside and not too bready on the inside. The bread is the size of a large hamburger bun. Looking forward to trying a new sandwich place and the results were pretty mixed. My first issue is, you pretty much take what you are given without enough options. Honestly, I don't want somebody else's idea of a perfect sandwich, I want it made just like I prefer. That aside, I took half of mine home, scraped off the stracciatella, toasted pistachio, salsa rossa, arugula, added mayo and mustard, plus some lettuce and onion and it became wonderful. Their mortadella is some of the best I have ever tasted, but with what they put on that sandwich, you really can't tell. Their bread is wonderful too. My wife became very ill a few hours after our visit, and remains unwell two days later, she refuses to even look at her remaining sandwich half, and now I'm afraid of it as well. Oh, and their cannoli's are not great either. So unlike Clemenza, I'd leave the cannoli's and take that other thing. Staff was friendly, the place looked clean, but both of us have decided this is a one and done sort of visit. Too bad too, we really wanted to like this place. read more

I'm so glad Simi Valley finally has a spot like this. It's honestly one of the only Italian delis around here that really delivers. I ordered the Bambino, and one bite says it all. The sandwich is loaded with capocollo di Martina Franca, Genoa salami, and prosciutto cotto, layered with provolone, pepperoncini, tomatoes, red onions, and lettuce--and somehow everything comes together perfectly. The flavors are bold but balanced, the meat is tender and juicy, and every bite just hits. The bread has that perfect crunch and holds everything together without falling apart, which makes a big difference. And the size? Huge. Definitely worth it. What really stood out too was the service. The person who took my order was very nice and attentive, and you can tell they genuinely care about their customers. I saw people dining in, and right away they were being welcomed, seated, and offered drinks. It just feels like a place where you can relax and enjoy yourself. The inside adds to the experience--it actually feels like a true Italian deli. They've got shelves stocked with Italian sodas, snacks, sauces, pastas, and all kinds of condiments you can take home to make your own Italian dishes. At last I got to try this new establishment with my friend and a fellow Yelper!!! I have been eyeing this place for awhile and been looking forward to trying a new non chain restaurant in town where you can get quality food. And this restaurant fit the bill! This restaurant offers an array of salads, sandwiches, pizzas and more to fill any tummy! Plus they offering catering where you can get larger portions of salads, trays of sandwiches, lasagna and more. They also offer a variety of Italian treats and drinks to enjoy with your meal. My friend and I decided on a couple of sandwiches. Sandwiches range from about 17 dollars to 22 dollars. They offer both meat sandwiches and vegetarian sandwiches. I settled on the chicken parmesan sandwich. I appreciated that it was not overly breaded with the perfect amount of cheese and sauce. The bread was the perfect touch. As it was a beautiful day we were happy that they offered outdoor patio seating. Some of the seating is directly in the sun, but they do offer some in the shade. There is a mixture of high boy and regular tables. Plus there is indoor seating as well. The staff was super friendly at the restaurant. Plus very patient with us as it was our first time here. If you go, I'd recommend sitting outside since it can get a bit warm indoors. Service is great and the staff do consistently check up on you even if you're outside. Yum, a new delicious Italian Deli on the westside of Simi Valley. Tucked in the corner on Madera and Royal you can find this place. Straightforward you order at the front, get a number and find a seat. My friend and I both ordered sandwiches as that appears to be their specialty. I can see why. The bread is outstanding. Really makes the whole sandwich. And also where you take one bite, you immediately want to follow up with another. Before I knew it I had devoured my sandwich. Very tasty. It is a tiny place. There is a small amount of seating inside and out. I think they do a lot of carryout as well. They also sell some imported packaged Italian foodstuffs on their shelves. It is a deli, but the food is higher end than one might expect. The people are extremely nice and accommodating. We had a tired and cranky child with us and they were very understanding. We had mozzarella knots (on sautéed zucchini) and arancini for appetizers. The mozzarella knots amd zucchini were good, but did not stand out. The arancini was excellent. I had the beef/pea/mozzarella. It was prepared perfectly, freshly fried with molten cheese inside. My wife had the eggplant parmigiana. I did not try any of it, but she said it was good. I had the cinque stelle sandwich. I wasn't sure what to expect. Imagine the contents of a charcuterie board stuffed into a large Italian roll. That is what it made me think--prosciutto, mozzarella, tomato, and typical Italian accompaniments (basil, oregano, olive oil). I do think it needed more of the oregano and basil. Prices were on the high side for a lunch place, but those Italian specialty meats (prosciutto, etc.) are not cheap, and I would consider some of the food gourmet quality. As long as you realize this going in, I don't think the prices are unfair. I can't say that I have eaten at a place like this before, but I would definitely eat here again, and recommend it to others as a fancier change of pace for lunch, if your wallet will allow it. read more

First visit this evening to meet Benjamino, the wine maker from Botromagno winery! I must apologize for not visiting this establishment sooner. I actually felt I was back in Italy having a dinner with friends and family! Relaxed, friendly setting with large pours and servings. The arancini were perfectly cooked with a crispy texture that gave way to a creamy center of ricotta and spinach. Next was an amazing plate of veal with a tuna-anchovy infused mayo. Lets start with the Service, the ladies behind the counter are friendly and engaging. Due to the very busy adjacent street corner, the amplified road noise kills the casual outdoor seating area. As to the food, The first time we went, we had the meatball sandwich and lasagna, both were very good. We told all our friends and neighbors about it. Today we ordered the lasagna and the margarita pizza, and unfortunately the pasta in the lasagna was hard and tasted like cardboard, the sauce tasted like it came from a can, and the mozzarella less than fresh. The pizza was no better, the crust was super gooey, and overall not tasty. The fact that we spent $46 for this type of experience made it even worse. We love to support our local businesses, but they still have to earn our continued patronage. read more

This is NOT a panini, not by a long-shot. Panini's are grilled, smashed, and on regular bread. THIS is more like a meatball sandwich on a round, thick bun. Pros: delicious, large meatballs and tons of tomato sauce and cheese. Cons: it's super messy (all that sauce), so you'd better get a lot of napkins! Now to the positives: Cute market to the left and it's where you can grab your cold drinks. Ordering was easy and service was friendly. Our food was delivered to our table freshly made, and fairly quick! Love that they use wooden plates and boards for the food! We sat on the cute patio (despite it being 92°). We shared a bottle of limoncello (they graciously gave us two cups filled with ice), the margarita pizza, and the Bambino sandwich. Ok, the sandwich itself was worth the trip...so good! I'm a huge Bay Cities fan, and although the bread is different and delicious in its own way, the taste was comparable to the Godmother. The pizza had a nice crust. Not super flavorful, but good.
