By far one of the bottom 3 meals I've ever had. Food was bad, wine was warm, service was mediocre. I'm not expecting for every place to have a wine fridge/cabinet but this was warmer than room temp, they need to rethink where they store their wine. The food was awful, some poor excuse of a dry salad, microwaved pizza, and look at my photo of the chicken, did they boil it or something? What the heck kind of chicken looks like this? My friends love this place and always get the antipasto salad and a pepperoni pizza. The iceberg lettuce was very crisp and fresh. I didn't like the antipasto toppings separated by topping. I like everything chopped and tossed together. I like to have a little bit of everything in one bite. Even after tossing the salad I still got a bunch of olives in one bite and red onions in another. The dressing was a little vinegar forward and caused me to cough. Pizza was okay. Nice thin crust. Not too doughy but also not a thin crispy crust. There was no cheese pull and maybe 1-2 pepperoni per slice. Our server was a decent server but not overly warm or friendly. She checked on us once or twice but very minimal. My salad plate and salad bowl was never picked up. She never asked if we wanted more water. The restaurant looks pretty dated. The booth we sat in was a teeter totter. Two girls sat on one side and as I slide in the bench went up. When my friend got up I wasn't prepared and I sank to the floor. My friend said the lights were the same ones she had in her trailer (50 years ago). We were there until 8:30 and didn't realize they closed at 8pm. A weird time to close but it is Simi Valley. I guess everything closes early like Mayberry. That's an old tv show reference to Andy Griffith Show for you young kids. Unfortunately, the food was not impressive. The chicken piccata was questionable, I'm not sure if it can be considered chicken. The pizza tasted like Digiorno frozen pizza. The salad was very mid and dry, no croutons, cherry tomatoes just regular tomatoes, onions, carrots and iceberg lettuce. My wife saw a post on a Facebook group stating how good Palermo's was. She also sent a video of some stating that they had one best pizza's in Simi. She ordered a family meal along with other items and we ended up with 4 individual spaghettis, 4 individual salads, a large pizza with sausage and mushrooms, a bunch of bread, Chicken Piccata and a side of soup. Overall the price was good, but other than the sauce on the spaghetti, it was just ok. I didn't get why everything was send individual and not combined for a "family" meal, the soup had zero flavor, the pizza was, in my opinion, generic. My husband and I have been living in Simi Valley for 27 years and this as our first time dining here and we were highly surprised. Food was delicious and service was excellent. Let me start by saying, it's a small cozy restaurant with old school Italian motif decor with wall mural of Italy with brick accents. Yes it's a little dated but we ate there for the food and not the decor. The server was attentive and gave great recommendations. Our food was served timely and paced according to completing each course. We did not feel rushed. We started with their Mozzarella sticks served with their homemade marinara sauce. The mozzarellas were lightly breaded and pretty thick in size. It was piping hot and delicious. My husband had the Italian wedding soup and it had a lot of sausage pieces in it. I had the dinner salad with blue cheese and it was just okay. Will have to try another dressing next time. For our main course we had the Lasagna and Chicken Par magian. Both were generous servings. The Lasagna had a good balance of well seasoned ricotta, meat sauce and cheese. The Chicken parm had two huge slices of chicken which was way too big to finish. Both dishes were scrumptious and they included yummy garlic bread at no extra charge. For dessert we tried their Cannoli and it did not disappoint. It brought me back to Boston's North-end where they have excellent Cannolis. To our surprise, for all of the food plus beer and cocktail our bill was very reasonable. Wednesday 4.15.26 I came here with my 3 littles for lunch and we were served by Lydia. It was such an awesome experience! She was super efficient and prompt with service. Didn't make us feel like we had to be rushed out the door. Treated us like family. The pizza was awesome too. The slice of pizza was HUGE! Comparable to a slice of pizza to the establishment Slice House. The atmosphere was perfect outside. We were able to people watch from a distance and look at cars driving by and if you have littles, you know cars can be quite fascinating. Lydia helped us out the door since pushing a stroller while holding a door simultaneously can be quite the task in of itself but she held all doors open and made our experience awesome! Wow. Great Eggplant Parmesan, and no, I'm not kidding. I've loved eggplant cooked in the Italian style since I was in single digits, my grandfather used to grow them and cook from scratch. Grew his own tomatoes too. Not the same as his, but considering the amount of work to make it myself Palermo's does the dish proud. I'm really impressed to be honest and am looking forward to exploring their menu further. The decor is nice, brighter than in years past. The service was very good as well. My family has been eager to check out more spots in Simi Valley. I recently heard Palermo's is under new management and have really improved. They were right! We were quickly greeted and seated. This place is smaller but private enough and includes a patio seating area. We were shameless and brought in a local deal that turned out to be great! It included pizza, spaghetti, salad and bread. More than enough for my family, and for the price a very good deal. All of our items, but especially the pizza and homemade dressings (Italian, balsamic and ranch) were all a hit! You could tell the pizza was homemade, as well as, the dressings. Very flavorful. Before leaving, I noticed an extensive beer and wine offerings. Maybe next time! We enjoy stopping in when we get a craving for Italian. It is a cute little place... they recently have been updating the interior opening it up more. We always get the family deal for 2. 2 salads, 2 spaghetti, and a medium pizza for $39.99. It is delicious and we always take home leftovers. My only complaint this time is it was very hot inside the restaurant. Not sure if their air conditioning is broken or they don't have air. This review is for a take out order. Not sure what has changed here, the pizza was always solid, the pasta dishes were below average. Now the pasta dishes are way better. Tonight we did a lasagna, chicken piccata and chicken parmigiana. The piccata dish, had a ton of garlic and lemon. The parmigiana was cooked well and the lasagna had great flavor. Secret gem in Simi Valley. Low key Italian restaurant with nice ambience, great food and wonderful service. We went for dinner a couple of months ago and had a meal deal for 2 with salad (no pic but was good), pepperoni pizza, spaghetti with meat sauce and garlic toast (pic only shows 2 pieces but it comes with 4). Everything tasted great and our server was very attentive and had great timing ensuring we never ran out of beverages. Last night since it was raining pretty hard we got take-out (ordered online through Slice) as we had company from out of state. We got the same meal deal but for 4 with more pizza toppings (that of a Supreme) and it was just as good if not better and the price was pretty reasonable. Been wanting to try Palermo and finally did recently as our daughter wanted Italian for a quick birthday dinner. It wasn't very busy but it sure was delicious. Palermo's used to be a great family restaurant that my family and friends have enjoyed for over 40 year. However, I will never go back there again. Why? Short Form: The new owner was very rude and presumptuous, the portions were small and the prices high. Long Form: I ordered a meatball sub. I was shocked that the meatballs were all half meatballs. My friend ordered the cheese ravioli. He was shocked there were only three raviolis. Our bill with one soda and a small house salad came to almost $40 - for lunch! For two people. And we got half the food we used to get in the past. The real deal breaker was when the owner asked how everything was I very politely mentioned that we were not happy with the portion size and cost. The owner began to overreact, insulting our character and telling us we had an attitude. She went on to make assumptions about our lunch conversation which was none of her business. First off, Felicia is amazing! Friendly, great service and fantastic attitude! She makes the place brighter with her energy. The restaurant's ambience is nice and cozy. Very clean and inviting. It had a nice old world feel, but bright and cheerful inside. The food is fantastic. The best pizza and eggplant parmigiana that I've had in Simi Valley. I can't wait to try other dishes. We got a cheese and a pepperoni pizza, the lasagna (at her suggestion) a Caesar salad and the shells. When we got home, we ate with the teens (14 yr old and a 17 yr old). We tried Palermo last night for the first time in years but sadly the food was not that great. What brought us back was the "under new management " statement on their website. Unfortunately the taste and quality were lacking and they could not get a simple order correct. We ordered one 14" pizza with black olives and onions well done, they gave us black olive and sausage and it was not well done. The pizza overall was bland but it did have a good crust. It's not acceptable when there are five workers standing around that cannot take the order properly or make the order right! We also ordered Italian Wedding soup and a side of garlic bread. The soup was ok. The garlic bread is made from a hoagie roll they use for the sandwiches and it chewed like day old bread, it was not good.
