Horrible..just horrible I'm being dramatic but come one, you take up prime real estate and create a beautiful restaurant. I was SO Excited and I wanted to love it but it was just not good. I've been back 4 times trying different things and NOTHING is good! The chips are actually good but the salads sucks and every meal I've had is a waste of money. Cactus, Oaxaca, damn even Monte Rico would be better Mexican food options. I hope this place goes out of business and a good restaurant actually opens. Wow, underwhelming... Is this even Mexican food?? The fusion twists this joint right out of Mexico and into the Pacific. Bland, bleh, uncreative. Mixed review for Poquito's Bothell. First the good: margaritas! Between the 4 of us, we had 3 different types and all 3 were delicious. The chicken and the steak quesadillas were tasty as well. Even though I don't like paying for chips and salsa at a Mexican restaurant, the jalapeño queso that came with our dip trio was very good. Now the not so good: my steak fajitas were tasteless. The meat was dry and grisly and really had no flavor. The corn tortillas were crumbly and couldn't hold the fajita filling without falling apart. In addition there was no sort of sauce (no salsa, sour cream or guacamole) for them, so that added to the blandness. I won't be rushing back since I have a much better Mexican restaurant closer to my house. read more

Hmm...beautiful restaurant and nice ambiance. I appreciate a good Happy Hour and Poquitos has a nice selection on their menu. I'm a fan of Mexican Street Corn and they have a smaller order available during HH. They serve it in a bowl so you don't have to gnaw on a ear of corn. This was the highlight of the evening. For my entree, I had the Enchilada Suiza with chicken. They serve the rice and beans in a separate bowl. I was not a fan of the enchiladas. They were swimming in the sauce, to the point the tortillas fell apart. Very messy. I like some heat but these bad boys were HOT. The rice was dry and flavorless. I ate two bites of the enchiladas and a few bites of the rice. The service was mediocre. They weren't busy but they only had one server in our section. She had a hard time keeping up. The waitress didn't ask me if I was happy with the food. When 90% of a meal is uneaten, there is usually a problem. Maybe I should have complained but that's not my way. All in all, I enjoyed the evening. I wouldn't go back for the food but it would be a good place to go for Date Night. read more

Hmmm, I can see why the reviews aren't great and I totally agree. The atmosphere is 5 out of 5 - really detailed decor, open windows and cool patio and inside bar area. Service was a little lacking, food came out at different times and some things were forgotten entirely. Ordered the salsa trio, because for some god unknown reason this place doesn't give you complimentary chips and salsa, but the salsa came out after our food. I had one of the specials which was an ahi tostado and was actually really good, I thought the price was fair at $11.00. My bf got the shrimp dish which was $21.00 and was a tiny portion for the price. Our friend had the taco trio which he said was average. Each of their meals came with rice and beans which they brought out in one bowl for them to share and was barely one portion (they called it "family style", not sure whose family eats three bites each but ok). For the price and quality, I would not return. Cool atmosphere and would recommend if they have a good happy hour, otherwise pass. read more

I had super high hopes for this place - I've had it on my list of places to try since it opened, and it fell short. The first negative is that chips and salsa aren't complimentary. How do you have a Mexican restaurant and not give chips and salsa for free? We ordered the jalapeno queso which was okay, but there wasn't enough of it for the price tag. Service was very slow. It took quite some time to get our drink order, and quite awhile for the server to come take our food order. Food took forever to get out of the kitchen and it wasn't insanely busy or anything - it was a Tuesday at like 7pm. I ordered the skirt steak tacos - I wouldn't recommend. The steak felt like they had just sawed off part of a normal steak and stuck it on a tortilla with some guac. The steak was overly salty, however it was cooked medium so I appreciate the fact it wasn't overdone. It was very tough despite the pink in the middle though. I had a bite of my boyfriend's meal, who got the Alambres, and it was very good and the steak in that was DELICIOUS. I did not enjoy that the rice and beans were served for the whole table. Yeah, I get it, they have free refills of rice and beans.. but that doesn't mean much when the service is so slow you're just ready to leave before they can get more. Now for the positives.. Chips were really good, I just wish they were complimentary. Bathrooms were clean The decor is phenomenal! It's absolutely beautiful inside. We went in during a week day happy hour. Half the tables on the patio were full, there was large group in the dining room and a few folks in the bar and only ONE SERVER!!! Service was slow! We ordered from the happy hour menu. The ceviche was like no ceviche I had ever had before, it said on the menu it was spicy, that's because it was drowned in hot sauce and vinegar, there were hardly any shrimp in it. The fried tortillas were okay because they were small but thick and easy to break apart. We ordered the sangria and one of the margaritas on the happy hour menu. The frozen sangria was fine, the pour was light though barely a third of a glass. The margarita was mostly ice. So happy hour drinks were skimpy. A table near us had a margarita in a water glass, so it seems you could spring for full price margarita and get a decent pour. We tried three of the four tacos on the happy hour menu. Do not get the steak tacos. It was more like steak crumbs, very tiny pieces of meat. The pork tacos, were over seasoned with sauce. The chicken tacos were good until we ordered them again. They weren't consistent with the previous order! We won't be back. The server did his best, but the kitchen is inconsistent. Next time we'll go to the place near the paint store. Wow, reading the other reviews, I feel like everyone else must have gone to a different restaurant. So much complaining! We stopped in to Poquitos on a Friday night. It was busy but there was still a table right away. The hostess was friendly, as was the server. We started off with fried pork rinds, which came with a spicy cheese sauce for dipping - I liked the sauce so much I'd come back just for that. For main courses, I was pleased to be offered something that was a bit "fresher"than typical Americanized Mexican fare - several options, in fact. I went with the Carne Asada, which was a nicely seasoned steak served sliced, and came with a side of pan-fried Brussels Sprouts that were perfectly charred in places, with light and crispy leaves and well seasoned with flaky sea salt. Sheer perfection. Everything was comfortable, clean, and pleasant, and worth a visit. read more

It's not some alternative cut cooked "medium well" (since it's such a bad cut) and they charge like 40$ for it now. The prices online are not what they are in-person. Nice open space with amazing Decor. Staff has always been kind, and hospitable, granted I usually sit at the bar. Happy hour is a pretty amazing deal, but the tacos can occasionally be a little salty or I would give a full 5 stars. That being said there is some really good food on the regular menu and happy hour menu, the squash quesadilla is a nice vegetarian option, the wings are really good too. Had the enchilada special last time I went in with an amazing mole a sauce. Probably one of the most authentic dishes I've had at poquitos. Is it a real Mexican place if they don't give complimentary chips and salsa? When we asked about this, our server said the owner or chef put a lot of time and energy into creating the salsa, which is why they charge for it. I'm sure they are asked this often, it sounded like he's had to give that response before. Thoughtful decor and good service; wish I could say the same about the food. I had tacos and bacon guacamole. The tortillas were a little dry and the portions small for the price. The taste was a little lacking as well. The "bacon" in the guacamole was rubbery. My S.O, had some prawns. For the price, it was a tiny portion, but he said the taste was good. Our meals were both supposed to come with beans and rice, but we only got one serving. When we asked about it, we were told it was "family style." They said they could bring out more if needed, I'm not sure if they would have charged for that though. I'd go back to enjoy happy hour on their patio, if they have good drinks, but I'll keep going to the Mexican place up the street for good food. read more

Excellent customer service! Came in tonight with some friends and we were seated immediately, but had a rather long wait until we were brought water. We noticed it was a long wait, but didn't mind because it gave us time to look over the menu. After we were brought water and had our orders taken, they brought out a complementary salsa trio because of our wait and comped the quac we had ordered. Granted the restaurant has an inviting space, great ambiance, and spirited diners. Very alluring and satisfying. The service was reasonable considering how busy it was on a Saturday night. BUT, The food was beyond disappointing; three of our group of 6 rated it the worst Mexican meal they had ever experienced. The Steak Tacos were mostly grizzle. The Red Chicken Enchiladas were drowned and filled with an oppressive, unpleasant-tasting, overly hot sauce which overwhelmed and soaked the underlying enchilada, leaving it tasteless and mushy. Scraping the sauce off was of no help because the sauce inundated the enchilada itself. Not one of us was willing to finish the meal, or box up the leftovers, with the exception of the Tortilla Soup, which was tasty and interesting. Poquitos would be a great addition to the growing scene in Bothell, if the chef made some improvements. read more

Here's an update now that I've finally tried the food. I arrived around 6:30 on a Sunday and the place was pretty quiet, although there were some dining tables occupied as well as bar seats. While I was deciding what to order the waiter brought out chips and salsa, which just tasted like chips and salsa I'd have at a friends house... the chips weren't warm or especially fresh and the salsa was just decent, nothing spectacular. Oh well. I had a few bites of the Shrimp Ceviche ($14) which included poached shrimp, cucumber, red onion (tried to avoid that bit), tomatoes, Guajillo vinegar sauce, cilantro, and three tostadas. It was definitely more vinegary than other varieties I've had before but it wasn't bad by any means. There weren't a ton of shrimp pieces but I'm not a huge shrimp person anyway so that's okay. The tortilla chips did make for slightly easier consumption vehicles than the tostadas. For the main I wanted to order the special Butternut Squash Tacos ($16) which appeared to be plant-based (I'm a pescatarian trying to limit animal products) buttt sadly they were pre-seasoned with garlic oil which my tummy isn't a fan of. So I went with the Chipotle Maple Yam Tacos ($14.5) instead which include 3 tacos filled with fried yams, chipotle maple glaze, Mexican crema, queso fresco, toasted pecans, green onion. I omitted the cheese but there was still a heavy crema dollop on each taco. The pecans added a nice crunch, although the yams weren't tender throughout... they needed a bit longer in the cooker. The tacos come with a side of rice and beans--the black beans did pair nicely with the yam/crema mixture. I traded one of my tacos for a Baja Fish Taco ($17) which was composed of grilled white fish, shredded cabbage, pico de gallo, aioli, and cilantro. (Beer-battered is the other option.) The fish taco was okay but the fish was a bit dry and the taco itself wasn't all too flavorful. You never know until you try though! Service was pretty standard. I should have ordered a Purist Margarita this visit haha. I wouldn't choose to come back for food as there are much better options for the same price or even cheaper. Same thoughts regarding the atmosphere. There's definitely potential but it's not quite there yet. read more

First off l, so excited POQUITOS made it to Bothell!! Only bad side, it's residential so as our server said "the customers make the atmosphere" it was pretty mellow which can always be nice sometimes. We ordered the queso to start, taste was delicious, unfortunately the actual queso was of a water consistency.. we shared the taco plate with the 3 different taco options. Chicken taco rocked, steak taco tasted like beef stroganoff, and pork was soggy. Service was great! We made a reservation through open table and got right in. I gave this place a 4 because I know they can do better with food quality, the service and atmosphere are so fun, just need some adjusting. Do better POQUITOS! We love you! read more

We went during Happy Hour (4-6) on 5/16/19. First visit. My son and his wife came here and really enjoyed it. The ambience, decorations and floor plan are excellent. Very inviting!!! I read some of the reviews and it is kind of hit and miss towards the food and/or the service. Upon walking in, the hostess was not pleasant. It seem like she was more interested in making sure her hair looked good rather than welcome us, no focus or smile. We went to the bar and was greeted immediately by one of the two bartenders. Our service was very good. We were served by both bartenders. They were busy but attentive:) The happy hour menu is $7. per dish. We went for the salsa and guacamole and chips. All excellent. We ordered off the main menu because we had a Passport card. We each ordered a Margarita...very good and two dishes: Alambres and the Prawns In Salsa Negra. Both were tasty. The parking is a bit of a challenge. There are 2 parking garages but is to the brim and it wasn't even a weekend...So it was a bit of a walk to the restaurant and was raining. The town center looks like it's coming along and there's some nice restaurants that have come in. I gave it a four star because of the hostess needs to work on her greeting attitude (there are a lot of people out there that want to work!) and the parking. read more

My husband and I tried Poquitos for the first time for happy hour on a Thursday. The restaurant has lovely decor and a variety of happy hour bites and full menu, but our experience was definitely not great. We first had to wait 3 or 4 minutes to be greeted by a hostess, who saw us waiting while she was busy doing something in the main dining area. She made eye contact with me several times but at no point even tried to communicate a "be right there". We had a very odd interaction when we asked to sit at a window booth, which she said might be held for a reservation but that she couldn't check because she didn't know how to use the syste. She later sat a couple at the adjacent booth saying it was the only one not reserved. This seems to be unprofessional, or at least sloppy. Our waitress was very nice and efficient. The other food staff were competent, but delivered our asada fries saying, "I've got your thing" instead of naming the dish, which is pretty standard at restaurants. We ordered the asada fries, quesadilla, wings, and steak tacos. All were pretty one-dimensional in flavor and fairly uniformly spicy without other depth. With one drink each, our total came to $60, which was a little pricey for what we got. Overall, I didn't think it was worth the price and the mediocre service and food. read more
