I don't usually have much of a sweet tooth, but tonight I was craving for something along the lines…read moreof ice cream, but less sweet. I'm glad that Yelp recommended this place to me! The mango bingsoo was so good. I'm usually a savory foods girly, but I love the "not to sweet" sweets just like this bingsoo! It was my first time here and definitely not the last. The texture of the ice caught me off guard in a good way! It was like soft, but also still had a good "bite". I never had fresh snow before, but this is what I would imagine the texture to be like. It's milky ice, but in the best way possible. It's not icy at all. It's like soft and pillowy. It made me want to keep eating it. The mango sauce and mango cream on top was really good too. At first when I looked at the bingsoo, I'm not going to lie, the presentation looked a bit underwhelming at first, but there's a generous amount of mango chunks around the middle of the bingsoo. The mango chunks were soft and sweet! Honestly it was soooo good! My husband and I ended up sharing the shareable size together and we were able to finish it without a problem! I'm already craving it again as I am writing this review lol! The portion size is actually good. I love how they give a mountain of the ice and not have it flattened out. I also liked how milky the bingsoo was. It also didn't melt too fast, which is a plus. I was actually able to indulge instead of scarfing it down. Now I wish this place was closer to me as I'm from the Bay Area! I would probably eat this everyday if I could lol! It does get a little messy, like sticky so make sure you have napkins! I also kind of wish they had some topping options like mochi bits, condensed milk, sago, or mango popping boba lol or an option for extra cream! Oh and we arrived around 9:30pm. Not too long after we arrived, the place was packed! They do have a parking lot, but parking is quite limited and it's only like 20 minute and 30 minute parking.

Thanks to Yelp for leading us to this spot!…read more We had dinner in Torrance with my sister and my daughter. We were having so much fun and were looking for a dessert spot so we can continue to catch up. We found Noon Bingsu. It's in a strip mall with lots of other Korean businesses! It's well lit inside but not much in terms of decor. We got a small mango bingsoo and it was delicious! Big chucks of fresh mango, lots of mango flavored cream and the soft powdery shaved ice. There's really nothing else like it. In the famous words of Asian dessert compliment - NOT TOO SWEET! I'd love to come back again and try the injeolmi or grape flavor.

Great for couples, family, and friend. If you have a foodie friend who doesn't judge on exterior but rather the taste, this is a worthy spot. The lady helping us allowed us to try different options until we landed on Thai tea, almond amaretto, riceberry horchata on The Special (3 flavors) on a waffle bowl. It was placed on coconut sticky rice. At first I raised my eyebrows but when I tried it, I was blown away how GREAT of combo this is! 5/5 I would go out of my way to try this. What I also love about this is that it isn't sweet like typical dairy icecream but just sweet enough like the true gelatos you have in Italy. You must at least try this with the waffle bowl - it was quite the delight. The portion is big and you'll be surprisingly full. The special (3 flavors) is best for 2-3 people (regular serving). If you're going to eat this by yourself I'd just get 1 serving or the gelato cup. Restroom? No Seating? No

Tried Moom Maam at Smorgasburg Los Angeles at ROW DTLA, the big Sunday pop-up food event downtown…read more The event itself was pretty cool, although a few of the vendors I was hoping to try apparently didn't show up that day. Luckily this was one of the stands that had good reviews, so I gave it a shot. Between the language barrier and my excitement for dessert, I somehow ended up ordering more than I planned. The ice cream was good and the Asian-inspired flavors were definitely different from the usual. It didn't completely blow my socks off, but it was a solid treat. I kept thinking a little syrup or extra topping would've taken it up another level. Overall, glad I tried it. Half the fun of these food events is randomly discovering stuff you normally wouldn't eat anyway. I'd probably check out their Torrance brick-and-mortar location sometime and give them another shot.

It's been three years since my last review so I figured an update is due. STILL my favorite matcha…read morespot and I have tried many around LA and OC. The quality is just amazing and I prefer the matcha profile here compared to other places. Another favorite is their hojicha lattes!! So umami and fresh and nutty. I'm addicted! Dare I say I might like it better than matcha?! Blasphemy right?! No no, that would be insane. I like them equally. Just depends on my mood. Also, I would like to think my review made them change their straws! They're much better now! Love a place that takes feedback seriously!

Yamari specializes in Uji matcha straight from Kyoto. [Parking]: The parking lot for Mitsuwa can get busy during the weekend, but it is not impossible to find an open spot. [Ordering]: There was no long waiting line and I was able to get my order within 5 minutes after placing an order at the counter. [Menu]: Yelp's top highlighted items are Iced Matcha Lattes, Strong Uji Matcha Green Tea (sweetened), and Stone Ground Uji Matcha (contains no sugar or milk). They offer small, medium, and large sizes for their drinks. In addition, they also sell hojicha drinks as well as parfaits and soft-serve ice cream. *** Strong Uji matcha green tea (sweetened - small $4.50): The matcha flavor was strong alright. The drink did hit the spot and the sweetness level was about right. Mixed Soft Serve (half matcha and half hojicha - $6.75): Ice cream had a strong matcha flavor, but the texture didn't hit the spot. It would be nicer if the flavor was slightly less dense as this ice cream really made me want to drink more water afterward. The milk chocolate was a nice add-on, but I am not sure if it was really needed. *** I would stick with their drinks and there are better soft-serve matcha ice creams in Los Angeles (e.g. Meccha Matcha in Artesia or Tea Master Matcha Cafe & Green Tea Shop in Little Tokyo).

Then the owner was at the Japanese garden for December Nights so I could see how nice the candy looks in person, she was offering a discount... and I placed an order. In recent years it feels like everyone I know has been placed on one special medical diet or another. It's so hard these days to find pre-prepared food that multiple people can enjoy, and when I do it usually isn't particularly impressive. These candies are dairy free, gluten free, sodium free, low in sugar, and beautifully packaged in a way that feels like you're really getting something special. The taste of these is mildly sweet and mildly flavored. The texture is the best part, with soft centers, firm exteriors, and fun crunchy "rock" bits: great contrasts. I'm not a big fan of Japanese sweets, but if you are, these are a prime example. But honestly? Mostly I'm grateful for having a special food to share with my loved ones.

The good: I tried the che Thai (that's what we call it in…read moreVietnamese at least but I am not sure the Thai name for it). It's a tapioca and coconut milk pudding and it was delicious! The liquid in it was less sweet than the Vietnamese version and had fun grass jelly and tapioca pieces inside. I also had the coconut pieces in coconut water. The interior is modern and casual. They're situated in the corner of the plaza where there are tons of other Asian eats as well. The bad: I didn't get to try any foods this trip but will come back to try their savory foods. The coconut pieces in coconut water was frozen so we couldn't consume it right away. The interesting: They prefer you pay cash. Their dessert options weren't on their menu. You just had to visually look at the display.

I had seen several pictures of it on Yelp, and it looked too good to pass up. Funny enough, I've been to the Thai restaurant nearby several times but never paid much attention to Sweet Rice. I always assumed they only served breakfast and desserts based on the name. Clearly, I was missing out! I ordered the Khao Soi with chicken, and let me tell you, it was absolutely delicious! The broth was rich, creamy, and packed with flavor. That coconut curry combination was everything! The noodles, onions, and all the different textures worked so well together. I especially loved the crispy wonton strips on top, which added the perfect crunch. Every bite was so comforting and flavorful. This is definitely a dish I would come back for! I also ordered a Thai iced tea, which I really enjoyed. It was a little on the sweet side for my preference, so next time I would probably request a little extra cream to balance it out. The restaurant itself was clean, cozy, and inviting. I decided to dine inside, put my earbuds in, and enjoy an episode of Netflix while eating my soup. It was honestly such a relaxing little lunch. The service was excellent! The cashier was incredibly sweet and attentive, checking on me throughout my visit to make sure everything was okay. Overall, I'm so glad I decided to give Sweet Rice a try. Great food, wonderful service, and a cozy atmosphere. That Khao Soi alone is worth coming back for. Definitely a spot I'll be visiting again!
