Poor Richards have you changed your wings? Or is bc we went to the Fenton location? Or is it bc its a to go order? This is a must stop for us but we've only been to the Eureka location twice n my goodness it's my fave wings bc its not saucy but crispy and so seasoned. But bc Fenton location is on the way to our hotel we ordered the 50 wings to go. We got our fried mushrooms which is really good. Seasoned fries not bad but 50 wings were saucy. They were still good just not what we remembered. Dry spicy wings crispy was what we remember. Lol these were just regular wet hot wings even tho still tasty it wasn't what I remembered. Tempted to try the Eureka next x just to be sure. But $38 for 50 never bad! read more

Lunch today. Place was very busy so I assume. It is better than today's experience. Three of us ordered burgers and fries. None of us could finish our meal because they were cooked to the density of hockey pucks. Service was lacking, I think because they were short staffed today with only two waitresses. All in all, not worth another visit. read more

This is a great quick serve reasonable restaurant that happens to have a small bar and about 6 TVs (1 HDTV). The staff wear "burgers and beer" shirts and that order seems to be the priority. Poor Richard's is a great burger, salad and sandwich joint. (They do serve a very good boneless and w/ bones wing with just one, tasty, standard sauce) The burgers are nice fresh meat juicy 1/4 lb. or 12 oz creations with better buns and with some more interesting toppings. I got mine with the steak fries and then saw the sweet potato fries that looked better plus the Philly and that will be my next order. I have had their very good "sizzling" salads before topped with grilled steak (can come with chicken). They got a friendly 10 person bar and some TVs plus a few booths. The majority of seating, about 20 tables, is plastic cushion chairs under plastic tablecloths. This is more of a comfortable place to grab a bite than anything else. P.E.T.A. I would say are welcome, if that means People Eating Tasty Animals because there is a stuffed bear to welcome you at the door. read more

I visited this restaurant last night and I found it one of the worst restaurants I have visited. We walked in the door and we had to wait for someone who appeared to be the bus person to seat us. They were not busy but we had to wait 10 minutes for the table to be wiped off. We then were seated without a menu. My wife wanted to order a drink which she told the waitress. It took the waitress 15 minutes to get back to her. We then waited a half an hour to get our food which were two sandwiches. The waitress finally filled my water when we were almost done. She never did ask if my wife needed another drink. Poor service and mediocre food. Not going back. Could have got better food at an fast food restaurant. read more

Stopped by Poor Richards right when they opened at 11 on a Sunday. Something to note...they unlock the doors at 11 but their kitchen isn't open until 12. Knowing the history of how slow the Eureka one is, I was ready for it to be the same way here and sure enough it was. We ordered drinks then put our food order in. Seasoned fries are a must here as is their ranch. I got their bacon chicken wrap and my hubby got their burger. It took some time to get it but both came out hot and ready to eat. Once some regulars started milling in, you could tell who the waitresses favored but we were still attended to. Plenty of tvs to keep you entertained for sport and the bar looked like it had just about everything. read more

I went here one night after seeing this place's 4 star rating on here and decided to check it out. I went with a friend and we had dinner there. I had the fish sandwich and a beer. Their beer selection was disappointing, as they didn't have a whole lot, and it was just the stuff you can get anywhere. I don't think they even had anything as interesting as Schlafly's. as for the sandwich, it was quite large and came with steak fries. They tasted ok, but nothing special. The tartar sauce, served on the side had capers in it, but there wasn't enough to prevent the big piece of fish from being dry. So the food was unremarkable. But the thing that really bugged me was the service. Simply put, it was terrible. Our waitress only came to our table to take our order then to deliver our food. She never checked on us, even though we finished our small beers rather quickly and continued to sit there with empty glasses for a long time; we also never got water. Eventually we got her attention enough to get the check, but by then it didn't matter anyway. This place is completely average in every way. Wow has this place has gone as far down hill as I have seen a restaurant go. We used to go often and enjoyed burgers and food. Have not been in about three or four years. We arrived today around 2pm for a late lunch and the service was terrible. The older lady waiting on us acted like we were bothering her. She put the order in wrong, the wait for two burgers was 45 minutes and then another 15 because order was wrong and finally the food was terrible. Don't bother going to PR's. Too many other good choices. I would have better service and food at Burger King next door. That says it all! read more

My husband and I have been visiting Poor Richards for over 25 years. We were dating when we first started going there and have gotten married since then. It was always our "go to" place every Friday or Saturday night, this was the first time I had ever had wings and beer. I fell in love with their wings and have found them to be the best in the St. Louis area. It had gotten so the waitresses knew who we were and we ordered the same thing every time we went there. When we 1st started going there smoking was allowed in the St. Louis County area but since has been banned. That has greatly improved the experience of going there. read more

Right, so let's get to dinner. The wings were something funny like 12 for $8 but 24 for like $18. So, my math friends, why wouldn't one just order say - TWO 12'ers and save a few bucks??? I didn't go for that though - there was the POOR RICHARDS WING Special. which was...wait for it: a) Salad (your choice, I had house w/ french dressing, prob pushing it in this part of town) b) Buffalo WINGS (one flavor only, mild) quantity 12 and c) Garlic bread WITH cheese on it (and by cheese i mean literally a slice of melted cheese up top, not the shredded stuff. ALL this was near $9. Now the Salad would have been $7ish regular and the wings $8. Sure more lettuce (iceburg variety BTW) would have, I'm sure, been thrown in, but indeed, it's Iceburg. The wings were...OK. No choice of sauce, not mild but certainly 10 or so nautical miles away from 3 mile island. Entertainment? There IS a couple of vintage video games in the back. Go for it. Maybe you can get record top dog driving round the cylinder after the bud light. I didn't partake. Overall, like I said, 2 stars. Would I be back? We went to Poor Richards on a Sunday afternoon. We've been here before and just haven't written a review. That Sunday we decided to just sit at the bar. Our bartender was very sweet and attentive....wish I knew her name. We started off w/ the toasted mushrooms (nothing special but hot and tasty). Hubby ordered the wings and a side salad w/ raspberry dressing and I got a mush. swiss burger. The wings here are really good, messy and hot. I'm not a wing fan so no opinion but hubby likes them. The burger wasn't really juicy enough for me.....normally I like my mushroom swiss to be really juicy and cheesy and this just didn't do it for me. This is a very friendly bar with a neighborhood feel even though it's in a strip mall. Dark and cozy and fine to bring kids to. High marks for great service! read more

Poor Richards is definitely a "Cheers" kind of bar. We usually end up going there when we are in the neighborhood. The staff is really nice, attentive, and real. The bartender has a good rapore with everyone. They have great beer specials and their food is real good too. We had the wings, salad, and cheese garlic bread special, I believe it cost 8.95. I am not a wing lover, however, these wings were probably the best I have ever had! They have a home made ranch dressing that is so good! The garlic bread, well, it needs some help LOL. The downside of Poor Richards is I wonder if their exhaust hood is working or if they even have one at all. The place smells like pure grease! I smelled it this time before I even opened the front door and consequently you leave there smelling like the fryer (this may be a reason not to go or not to go back). The decor is outdated seriously. If you review it for the food, the service, and the cheap drinks, four stars! If you review it for the atmosphere, and the smell of the place...two stars. Don't let the first impression of the outdated interior make you turn around! It is a very casual a seat yourself establishment (this always confuses me when I'm new to a place). If you go for dinner it will probably be packed and noisy but if you go for lunch its fine. I have said before I'm not a huge meat eater but let me tell you, their boneless wings are to die for! They melt in your mouth, they are huge, sauced perfectly, not too spicy! I had the $10 wing special, it comes with 10 boneless wings (12 if you want regular wings), a very large side salad and garlic bread. There's not a lot of great bars in Fenton. It's not that the bars are bad in Fenton, but there's not a huge assortment. Generally, you get the same sports bar or random pub in a newly built strip mall with the same mid twenties to mid thirties crowd sipping bud light and munching on spinach artichoke dip. This place is certainly different. It's a bar and burger place. I have never had the burgers, but my friends say they are excellent...I will take their word for it. The prices are are cheap and the atmosphere has more of a local vibe to it than the other places in Fenton. It's not shiny and new, but it has a little more edge to it. The crowd can be a little older, but there are plenty of early 20's kids slugging back beers as well. It's not quite a dive bar, but it's not quite a pub either. It's hard to describe and actually, kind of hard to find since it's buried in a little strip mall on the side of Bowles after you cross over 141. Just look down the slope and you'll see it. It's certainly welcome diversity in the Fenton bar scene. read more
