I don't know what went wrong with the Eureka location, but this one is still great. I love splitting 50 wings and pitcher with a group of friends and watching whatever sporting event is on TV, it could be curling for all I care, great atmosphere. After more than two years of living not far around the corner, we were delighted to discover this local bar with food. Being a vegetarian, they offered a vegetarian wrap with peppers and mushrooms. Thus, although it was the only non-meat entree, it was very welcomed. We love local. Unfortunately, after eating the wrap a couple of times, I did desire to eat another kind of entree. On the way out of our visit today, my husband caught someone and asked if he was an owner and asked about vegetarian options. He said they would be doing some mac & cheese coming up, which I assumed was for lent. I tried to voice that it would be nice to have it as a regular entree (it is listed as a side), as I'd been eating the vegetarian wrap. His response was a friendly he'd "been doing it for 30 years" and he didn't offer any suggestions. I'd hoped he'd offer some sort of regular option to make mac & cheese a meal or anything else, but he did not. My response is this: Yes, you have been a warm addition to the local landscape for 30 years. You must have the ability to work with a changing economy and are incredibly adaptive. What I urge you to consider is the landscape of beer and food in St. Louis is changing. There are more people like me that desire non-meat options with great beer. We LOVE local and will support you. Poor Richards has always been known for their wings. They are still good and love their burgers! We had stopped going there when they allowed smoking, the smoke was just too thick and you would leave smelling like an ashtray! But now they are smoke free and we spent a pleasant evening enjoying our favorite local wings. In fact, they seem more popular now that's they are smoke free! read more

*Disclaimer* It was VERY busy... but the place left some to be desired. First, there is absolutely NO waiting area. You walk in right on top of other people dining. We waited a reasonable amount of time, despite the place being busy, but there was no one there to greet us and put our name on the list right away. When we finally did get seated, they asked another couple to give up half their table (I felt bad for them). We were literally in the doorway so when others walked in they had to stand 2 inches away from us while they waited. We tried to move our table and then were asked to move it back after we had food on our table. We ordered the wing special. The wings at the Eureka location are TO DIE FOR. This location's wings were burned to a crisp and were inedible. We complained and the first waitress didn't even apologize. The second girl who was helping us (why have two waitresses?) was much more apologetic. The girls were busting their butts, but they were obviously understaffed. 15 minutes to get a dinner salad, 40+ minutes for 2 orders of 12 wings. When we left, I immediately noticed that I smelled like a fryer. The ventilation must be awful! I had to strip and wash my clothes immediately and shower because our house started to smell like fryer! This place has been a Fenton bar food staple for years. The fried zucchini is great, as are the wings. Prices have gone up through the years but its not terrible. The smoking ban has made it nicer to eat in, it used to be like walking in a cigar lounge. read more

Before visiting for the first time I read the reviews. Many people enjoyed Poor Richards and therefor gave great reviews. I also read a few bad reviews so I would like to give my opinion on some of those bad reviews. This place is not a left wing, craft beer, lesbian hangout.... so if you are upset with the "beer selection". You are pretentious and need to come back down to earth. If you are looking for a beer.. guess what, they have beer. Poor Richards has TVs but small TVs. It's ok tho... if your are there with someone you can have a better opportunity to converse with a friend rather than be distracted. I loved the size of the restaurant itself. Every chair was full of smiles. The atmosphere if very light. That brings me to the food. We had the loaded nachos for an appetizer. They were perfect. Great salad as well.. for my main course I got the philly with fries. The philly isn't much more than a sliced roast beef sandwich but was very good. I would recommend Poor Richards to anyone. It's a small intimate hole in the wall with big flavor and a happy atmosphere. read more

I was pleased to walk in the doors and realize that there were no giant birds in sight, just yummy dummy wings. The water tasted as though it was from a glacier made of happiness and wonder. No kids were being verbally abused and made for the perfect environment for parents who need a drink. The beer was excellent but effected my vision for some reason. Was caught off guard by all of the positive reviews. Drink prices were very good, food prices were average. Food quality was average at best (hamburger with onion rings), but the service was SLOW. The place was very busy to start and I went there late (8:00 on a Wednesday), but it slowed down and after dropping off food server did not check in until after I had eaten everything and my beer had been empty for a while. Also, the listing in yelp as a sports bar is misleading. I saw two televisions I the place and both had the same soccer game. I visit the areas 3-4 times a year and was looking for a relaxed place with good food and cold beer. It is not worth a second visit. read more

It's a dive but the best wings I've ever had. The servers are all so sweet and attentive, no matter how busy it is. It's small, so expect a wait at times. But it's one of my favorite spots to bring out of town visitors and it never disappoints. read more

I always love coming here when we visit from out of town. It is always a place we make time for. They make their own sauces and they are great! I have only ever had salad and wings because I cannot bring myself to not get them. Other people I have gone with have tried burgers and nachos and say they are great. There is not a large beer selection but the wings and anything with ranch is where its at. The service is also iffy, but my family is there so much it usually is not an issue. read more
