They charged 600$ in labor for 1 motorcycle tire replacement!!! prior to this promised me that it would not take any longer than 1.5 hours at 147$ dollars an hour in labor. 800+$ total for 1 tire(TIRE COST 250 OUT THE DOOR) and kept my bike for 5 days! Then they had the audacity to bride me 50 dollars off the price to leave a good review! I will never do business with these dishonest guys again! Literally I don't even have to say anything bad because the truth speaks for itself! Ps. I had to have a shop fix there damage that they hid on the inside of the tire. My first impression of Poor Boy Motorcycle Mechanic was that it is a small mom-and-pop shop, which is not one of the overly advertised commercial chains that focus on newer bikes and are brand-specific like most others. After speaking to the employees who work here, I felt comfortable and confident that my bike would be in good hands. I had picked up a couple of tires that I wanted to put on and asked if they would be able to put them on even if not purchased through them. They said that it was not a problem. When I dropped my bike off, I told Jason that my bike had been making a strange sound from the front end. Jerry said that they would take a look at it and see if they could figure out what it was. When I picked up my bike, they had gone above and beyond not only to put on my tires but also to find the source of the strange noise that had been bugging me. Stan told me that when he looked at my front forks, he found a binding in them that they fixed. My bike is no longer making the noise, and I am very pleased with the outcome and my first experience with Poor Boy Motorcycle Mechanic. Huge mistake to go with these guys. I wish I had read yelp reviews first. They will not give a quote, but ask for $500 up front. Then they start asking for more and more. It's an extortion gig, as my bike was torn apart and they kept demanding more. After 9 months of check-ins I finally got it back paying $2000 for a $600 job. I brought my bike in because there was no one else in Reno willing to work on it. I had a problem with the cooling fan not working. They kept my bike for 6 weeks, stating that they waiting on parts. I'm the end I ended paying $650 dollars and came out with a check engine light on and the cooling fan not working as it should. They hot wired the fan so it staying on the whole time when the key was turned on. I wasn't going to take it back to them again. I went to Michael's on South Virginia. It turned out to be a loose wire., a simple fix. And Poorboys who charge me for Temp Switch, Michael's told me that the original part was still there. Be careful when taking your bike here. They will charge you an arm and leg and not fix anything. read more

Unfortunately I won't be able to rate poor boy as I can't get my Mc back from them. He told me a estimate for around 1400 which I thought was a little high but hey local and I try to support local businesses. After he called a couple of times to touch base I was still thinking it was about 1400 and I was ok with that, I'm working with limited income and a lot of health issues and all I wanted to do was ride again before I can't anymore. He called me last Friday and told me it was ready and since I had already paid 700 I asked "another 700 right?" He then told me it was going to be another 1700! I couldn't understand why it was so much because he had not told about any other issues other than the ones we discussed. I got upset and he told me I'll call you on Monday so you can calm down over the weekend. Never got a call, Thursday I went in and talked to one of his mechanics who knew nothing about it. I just got off the phone with him and was told 1768 dollars more... I guess I will be going to small claims if I can't resolve this issue. All I can say is do your homework, get everything in writing and don't back down. As someone who has a limited income I would have never agreed to more than the bike was worth. I had the Mobile mechanic pick up my scooter. It is a 2000 Aprilia SR-50 2 stroke. It was bogging and having problems getting to speed. Well they said they fixed it. With a new $12 rubber intake tube. For only $419. That and the time to put it in. I can put a new one on in 15 min. They charged me 4 hours labor. In the end I had to fix it myself. This guy was clueless at best. If he had only checked my carburetor and belt. He would have seen the main jet was clogged and the drive belt worn out. What a waste of $400 +. Go anywhere but here for 2 strokes at least. They were the worst I have ever seen and then they lie. To cover up just how bad they really are!! read more

Had a really PooR experience with JASON the owner at this shop. I wanted an estimate to fix my motorcycle.Told me 99.00 fee to check it out and get a price. Once they had my bike I get a call saying the estimate will now be 300.00.- (just for the estimate). I refused and told them I will pick up the bike and pay the 99.00 fee. When I went to pick up the motorcycle, they gave it back to me in pieces,and it was MISSING alot the parts, plus all the electrical and fuel hoses ect were still off. I was looking for a dependble scooter mechanics after having problems with Scooter City but that's another story. Any way I had Poor Boys do some work for me it took a little longer than I thought but, they did a pretty good job and I was happy with. After that I went back them for the maintaining my scoot witch I had them change oil, and lite work on my scoot I was going to have them put some high performance parts on my scoot but, me and a friend took care of it . I want them to use synthetic oil and put a 4 electrode spark plug. not sure they did. And tighten front End I am still having problems. I am writing this about a weird deal I had with the manager. I was talking to him about a 100cc bore kit. And he said it wasn't a good Idea. For or some reasons I agreed. He said he had a 125cc. That he could sell me the deal was I put down 500$ then trade my scooter in and a little extra after he has 125cc. fully built and running good for me. This was suppose to take maybe two weeks. sound good to me. After the two weeks went buy the 125cc was not ready he tells me that there waiting a part and it will take a little longer. anyway this went on for almost a month excuse after excuse finally I ask for my back money back he says he can't do that. and give him more time. I gave a couple more weeks still not done. finally I think I bug him enough that offers me my money back. I have not received it yet I will find out in two days. You know now I look back and the whole thing sounds Hiking to me I don't know why but something is not right. You make up your own minds about this deal. Now I still looking for some scooter shop I can really trust and depend on. know what there doing. Good service at a reasonable prices. After months and months of work and multiple payments (all while not receiving a properly running bike) I paid upwards of $1400 dollars worth of parts and labor. I received my bike back twice the first time it lasted one day before returning to the shop and the second time 15 minutes before returning to the shop. The third time I received the bike it ran great for an hour before slowly losing power followed by me riding down virginia street with a max speed of 15mph. I decided to give up on paying them money to screw around with my machine and sadly to say she's still sitting outside my home not running. I will never use this shop again and I strongly advise everyone I know who rides to avoid this place like the plague. read more

Poor customer service, they always tell me they would call back in a few minutes which they never do so I have to call back either a few hours or even the next day. I brought my bike in for a battery issue, they "fixed" it a week later supposedly. After a few days of riding it around It broke down while I was riding it and the battery was dead, so I was forced to walk my 600 pound bike home. When I brought the bike back to the place they charged me an additional 300 for something that should have been fixed in the first place. On top of all that they were supposed to fix my brake light but got the wrong one and I couldn't get my money back, so now I'm stuck with brake light wiring that doesn't work on my bike. Super happy with my service. I'm pretty new to the world of bikes, only had my Honda Nighthawk for a little over a year. Made a rookie mistake and did not take care of my bike's upkeep over the long winter. With a dead bike on my hands, I called Poor Boy for help. Got in contact with one of the owners, Jason. Jason was very patient, knowledgeable, and kind. He returned my call promptly and we scheduled a next day pickup. When he arrived to tow my bike, he had no problem accommodating my request to do some basic diagnostics before heading back to the shop. A little bit of tinkering (he walked me through the whole thing!) and we got it up and running! I am THRILLED. Jason gave me some great maintenance advice and let me know that since I paid the pickup fee but didn't fully use the service, that if I ran into any problems on the road that the next pickup would be on the house.
