BEWARE Pool World is a classic example of a business that was probably at one time good, but descended into the abyss of predatory down payment scams to survive the shifting mechanisms of manufacturing and delivery. Pool World are the snake-oil salesmen of the modern era. Pool World has a model where they collect $200, then say, "Your hot tub will be here on "D" Day". The problem is that they don't even know when they will get their inventory. They don't know when it will actually arrive. Or if it will EVER ARRIVE. They have no idea. They are passing that burden on to the customer, and taking $200 to cover their own speculating expenses. It's like me saying, "If you give me $200, I can give you The Mona Lisa -- I don't know when, or how, or how I'm going to get it out of the Louvre at all, or how to even get to Paris even -- but I'll gladly take your money and just give it to you when I DO get The Mona Lisa in my house and wrap it up for you". And yes, things happen, and yes, I expected maybe a week late, or even a month late, but this has become a ridiculous charade. And it's not that fact that it's late, or that a mistake was made. It's the disingenuous nature of taking people's money when they really have NO IDEA when you will be able to give someone their product. I feel it's disingenuous to take people's money and throw around random numbers and not warn the customer about the real situation. (which btw, most hot tub places I've called since tell me there's very little chance of us getting you a hot tub right now, or even by Christmas) Fact: I paid $200 in June of 2021 to Pool World with an estimated arrival time of mid July. Fact: I still don't know where my hot tub is and they keep pushing back the install date. Fact: Nobody has ever called to update me at any point, I've had to badger them. Fact: Nobody has apologized or been sympathetic in any way. Fact: Nobody has offered to refund my $200. Fact: I need this for a medical condition and could have gotten it from another company by now, and I told them that up front, why I needed it, and they just smiled and took my money, and every time I've inquired about it they've given me more bad news and I'm fed up. These are the excuses I've heard so far: 1) All shipments are running late because of covid. 2) The warehouse is not equipped for the volume of the hot tubs. 3) The hot tub manufacturer's plant broke and my specific model of hot tub "robot" had to be rebuilt to make my freaking hot tub. 4) Shortage of delivery drivers My question is this: "If you have no idea that "X" item will be here on or around "D" day, then why do they feel it's okay to collect people's deposits without having some control over the actual shipment means, or knowledge about an actual date. Maybe this "ticket" system shouldn't be used? Maybe it should be illegal to take money on a speculation? Who knows? Maybe they should do honest business and just wait until they have hot tubs before they sell a place in line since they apparently have no control over the ways and means by which it arrives at your door? But I'm a trusting person, so I'm believing that they will now be here on the 8th of September, 2021, almost 3 months late, but I feel dumber and dumber every day that I don't just say damn the deposit, I'm going elsewhere... I wish I would have got in line with a different company, but they have me by the tail. read more

BEWARE I have paid this company thousands of dollars!! Through the whole summer season of my pool being open, We only could use the pool TWICE. Pool World had only 1 pool man who knew how to clean my pool properly. He left the company in the middle of pool season. Pool world sends random pool guys who have NO trained skills what so ever! They overcharge for product that you never agreed to purchase but would be happy to purchase if the end results were that you could use your pool. I basically paid for Services I NEVER RECEIVED. At the end of the Season I called MARK in Customer Service about the closing of my pool. He was Extremely RUDE. I said you don't need to be so RUDE!! Scheduled service 2 weeks ago. Called this morning to verify an approximate time since they dont make appts. Was told between 10 and 1. It was 145 when I called and spoke w mark. He was rude and didnt even care. Said i was third on the list. I've been waiting since 9am with no response. He ended hanging up on me. I was upset on the phone. Didnt yell but was on the verge of crying from frustration. He told me not to cry it's not the end of the world and HE hung up on me... If that isnt bad enough his manager didnt care either when I called back. I asked for a next day appt. Hoping to be before noon and he then suggested he would be there by 4. I asked if he was sure because if not we would have problems I've been waiting for two weeks. He couldnt guarentee it. Said he had an emergency commercial customer paying emergency rates so might not even make it. I then asked if the guy was even gonna make it today and he said well sometimes things have to get rescheduled. Pool World sells a great product - Hot Springs spas. And their sales people in the Coeur d'Alene store are friendly and helpful . BUT - their service department is an absolute nightmare and I will never buy a spa from them again ( despite the fact that I love Hot Springs products ) because of this. They made fun of me and basically said that I was an idiot and needed to buy a new spa ( to the tune of 10K ) and once " I got tired of replacing parts " then I would just buy a new spa. They said there was " no way to diagnose a problem " with a hot tub. Once I gave up on them and found an independent repairman who came right out and diagnosed and fixed the problem for a fraction of the cost of a new hot tub, and was respectful and pleasant to boot I vowed never , ever to buy a spa from them again. read more

STAY AWAY FROM POOL WORLD!! They are unprofessional and crooked. At the end of the season last September our automatic pool cover rope broke. They came out and estimated a cost of repair at $1000.00. They repaired the parts and replaced the rope and charged us almost $1800.00. We opened the pool in June and used it five times when both ropes sheared off. We were so upset! We talked to Mark the head of the maintenance and were told there was NO WARRANTY and had to pay for parts and labor again!! When we asked him about how they were going to rectify the situation he kept asking for an updated credit card because the one on file had expired. We kept saying No and he wouldn't give us an appt without one!!! We asked that the owner or person in charge contact us. A month later we are STILL waiting for contact!! In the meantime we asked another pool company to come out. They informed us that Pool World actually took the original parts from the pool cover automation and Jerry-rigged other parts in place, THESE PARTS are rigged for both ropes to Shear off!! So currently we are unable to use the cover. We have to order the original parts and we are looking at another $1000-1500 out of pocket to repair the damage done!! We had to give them one star to file a review but would like to give them a double minus grade. In the meantime we are contacting the BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU as well as telling anyone we know to stay away from this unsavory business!! read more

These guys have been so extremely helpful. We bought a house last year with a spa... I panicked having not a clue how to care for one. I walked into Pool World and these guys provided a simple fix for maintaining our spa. Boy was I relieved when I found out how easy it was. Fast forward 9 months later and I still rely on their knowledge to quickly remedy my monthly maintenance issues or chemical imbalances. Free water analyses with a simple to follow chemical additive printout with step by step instructions. What would I do without Pool World's help? I would not be enjoying our spa as much as we do with the clean, easy maintained help offered by them. read more

We have nothing but great things to say about Pool World in Spokane Valley!! We went there to get information on a Big Green Egg grill and Brice was so helpful and knowledgeable ! We made the purchase that day and we Love our Egg!! 3 months later we had a problem with the Egg and Brice and his team took care of it within 2 hours! We couldn't be happier with the customer service we've had from the crew at Pool World and won't shop anywhere else for our Egg accessories and charcoal. Our experience with them has been spectacular and we appreciate their courtesy, competence and professionalism! After considerable research we decided to purchase a Caldera spa from Pool World. A written quote was given, including $4.00/mile mileage to our home 85 miles away (it's free delivery within 60 miles, and we were ok with paying the extra). The service mgr squelched the deal, saying they couldn't support if we needed warranty repair (even with us paying travel/mileage). Service Mgr refused to allow the purchase, even though Caldera says Pool World is the dealer for our zip code. Bottom line, unless you're local, don't bother shopping here. We ended up buying a jacuzzi brand from another reputable Spokane Valley Spa and Pool business and they were happy to deal, free delivery/install within a 100 mile distance, and great service. read more

Avoid this company at all costs. They have enjoyed a monopoly in the area for too long and that is reflected in their excessive fees, poor service, and lack of technical competence. We paid over $3000 for them to replace a pool cover that only worked for one season before it started having major issues. When we called PoolWorld about the cover not working correctly we were told it was past the 1 year warranty and that it would cost $500 for them to come and make adjustments to the clutch and pulley system and they didn't know how long it would work before it needed another adjustment. We have since learned that instead of replacing the entire cover system with the same brand product, they mixed and matched product lines that are not compatible! The motor and vinyl they used are the Coverstar, a product they sell, but instead of replacing the cover mechanism that holds the vinyl and where it rolls up, they used the original mechanism from a different manufacturer (Coverpool) which is not compatible for use with the Coverstar vinyl. When a Coverstar vinyl is used in the Coverpool mechanism the thicker edges rub on the ropes and pulleys and create an issue when opening and closing the cover so the "sheer" pins break and the cover won't move. Further when Pool World replaced the motor (also a Coverstar product) they installed it crooked and incorrectly onto the CoverPool mechanism which created additional problems. We had to pay another company another $3000 for an entirely new cover that was compatible with the system and mechanism that was already in place and for them to fix the way the motor was installed. Pool World appears to not want to invest in their employees continuing education to stay up on current systems and products and prefer their clients keep old equipment that requires the same repair repeatedly. (We had inquired several times about replacing our heater and were completely discouraged to do so with PoolWorld telling us the newer heaters were too costly and would cause certain problems with our system. In the meantime they had to come and repair the same issue with the old system on several occasions. And when we did switch companies the new company was able to replace our heater, pump AND filter for significantly less than what PoolWorld told me it would cost for just the heater to be replaced). Under PoolWorld our filter and pump needed to stay on 24 hours a day for the entire season. The new company was shocked that we weren't on a timer until he discovered that the filter that PoolWorld had installed was not adequate for the size of the pool and needed to stay on 24 hours to provide minimal filtration. The last season we used PoolWorld for pool maintenance they were not able to regulate the chemicals adequately and most days we noticed an horrific chemical smell. The Poolworld technician told us that the next year they would have to drain most of the pool and put in fresh water to attempt to get the correct balance. The company we used the next season had no issue with restoring the balance in the pool without having to drain the pool. When we started with PoolWorld I had inquired about switching to a salt water pool. PoolWorld strongly discouraged me. They told me that salt water pools were not a good option in Northern Idaho and would create all kinds of issues with the pool equipment. With the new company there was no issue in making the transition and we have been much happier. Thankfully there are more pool companies and services in the area and PoolWorld is not the only company anymore. I highly recommend that you find one of the other companies! read more

The staff at Pool World would have received '5' star rating but I believe you can always do something to improve your service & performance - furthermore, Dan, the North Store Manager must feel the same - his example through-out the process of purchase, set-up and delivery of our new hot tub and sauna was clearly aimed at our customer satisfaction. From the moment we walked into the store to the delivery and set-up at home. Dan and his staff made us feel as if we were their only customer, certainly we were made to feel we were a top priority. From start to finish, the North Store team performed with-out exception. I also greatly appreciate the patients showed with my many follow though questions, every time I come into store they are their to greet me and help me with my every inquiry. Thank You Pool World for making our spa and hot tub one of the most enjoyable parts of our lives. We certainly are enjoying being home!!! read more

Customer service is very poor. They do not return calls and if you don't get a call or pick up there calls they think your avoiding them. They expect you to pay them even though they don't give you answers and have a disagreement with the services that were done. They had just installed a new liner which I payed them over 4500.00 for up front. which with the closing and putting cover on the pool and remain potion of the bill was under 700.00. Which I had a family crisis come up and they would not work with me on. I had them put a cover over my pool last fall the day it was put on it was windy when I got home from work it was blown in my pool. I called them and I was just ignored. I even sent pictures I had to redo the pool cover my self. It never did blow off or in to the pool after I redid it and placed the tubes in the right spots. Also they had my key to my back fence for over a month before I could get it returned to me.I could not get a returned phone call to get questions answers. Because of non returned phone calls and I was also dealing with a family crisis..I did not get my final bill until almost 2 months after work was done.I called and let them know I was dealing with a family crsis and would get it taken care of when I came back home (I was out of state). In the mean time they put a lean on my home. I have paid them in full. But was treated like a thief and spoke to very rudely by the owner when I did call to take care of the bill. since then I thought I would put all that aside and have them open my pool. But again getting treated like a thief they want payment all up front more then what it would cost to open the pool and they will only take cash not even a credit card. They think about nothing but money and are not cheap. What ever happened to listening to a customer and working things out. read more

Tub under warranty. Crack formed in tub next to controls. Pool World checked it out, informed us it would be covered under warranty. This was about 2 1/2 months ago. They have had our tub in their facility for 2 1/2 months, for a warranty repair and are just now starting to work on it. This is totally unacceptable. Excuse after excuse, promise after promise is all we get. And now, winter has set in so transporting it the two hours home and setting it up may not be able to happen until next spring. Very nice. Purchase a $10,000 hot tub from these folks and this is the service you'll get. I'm so pissed off at them I think my next step is to our lawyer. Customer service and/or service after the sale are just not very strong points with Pool World. Even calling the Manufacture got us no where. They say, "contact the dealer." My next tub will not be from Hot Springs or especially Pool World. read more
