It's huge, with a big pond, two playgrounds, tennis courts, pool, basketball court, picnic tables, table tennis table, and more. I think people sled at this park in the winter, too! The pavilion was really nice, with attached bathrooms, a prep area, fridge, tables, and chairs. The space was a good size for the party of 30 people or so. The parking lot is a short walk from the pavilion. I liked the patio area overlooking the pond, and all the kids at the party loved the playgrounds! There was a grassy area outside where we set up cornhole. It's $45 per hour to rent the pavilion, with a minimum of 2 hours. Not bad! I'm so glad we got to experience this park and would definitely come back to relax and go for a walk!

Since it's a public park I knew it would be open, so my boyfriend and I hopped in the car and drove over. There were a few people doing some football drills on the field and some kids playing with bubbles. There's plenty of street parking nearby. There are restroom facilities but I didn't check to see if they were open. I left my sweatshirt and water bottle on the bleachers and felt comfortable doing that since there weren't many people around. The track was nicely maintained with only two small areas that needed to be patched. This park also has a playground and a pool! I've never been to the pool but would like to check it out someday - I've always wanted to go down the water slide. They have a fun inflatable course that bigger kids or adults can go on, but my only complaint is that room and water in that pool is collllld! My kids much prefer the heated pool side equipped with a small slide, set depth entrance, lazy river (no tubes), and small pool to play or shoot hoops. There are benches build into the pool so parents can sit in the warm water while kiddos splash and play around.

There's a lap pool, and if this is your thing, check the times for lap swims. Sometimes it is crowded and you have to share a lane, and sometimes it isn't. Find your time! There is a play area that is wonderful - separate from the large pool. It has a slide for littles, a gradual walk in with splash fountains, and then you round the corner and can walk in a waist-deep pool (or do very short laps) - there can be a basketball hoop there. There's also a sort of lazy river with benches that you can walk around. This, too, has open hours that you can pay a small fee to use. The Aquatic Center is a fantastic community resource!

We used to absolutely love this place but since COVID it has gone downhill. 5 stars for facilities…read moreand the improvements they have made . 2 stars for the level of management of bad behavior in the pool and on the deck. 3 years ago, the lifeguards didn't put up with any unsafe or inappropriate behavior. If you didn't listen- you got kicked out. I felt safe with my young kids there that they were being watched by effective guards and other people weren't putting them in uncomfortable positions. We went yesterday and today and there was so much rough horseplay, terrible language and unsafe behavior and no one did anything about it. At one point a lifeguard asked the manager to kick people out and he didn't follow through with it. Today there was a huge intact Mastiff dog on the pool deck- what? I want to love this Kalamazoo institution, but someone in charge needs to not worry about being everyone's friend and start taking action on poor behavior.
