Chunks of long hair that was missed all over. This is just one spot as an example
    Kelsey Tyler K.

My pup really needed a groom and I couldn't get into my regular spot for several weeks so I thought I would try something new. Bad decision! When I first dropped him off he was terrified and skittish, which he never normally is! At the groomer or the vet, he's always happy to be in new places and meet new people. Normally his appointments take anywhere from 2-3 hours; so when they called after an hour saying he was ready I was shocked! When I got there to pick him up he wanted to leave as quickly as he could. I did a quick look over and found his entire belly had been missed. They basically threw him back up onto the table and speedily clipped it. When I got home I noticed how red and irritated the area on his belly and testicle area was. He wouldn't stop licking it and was clearly having lots of discomfort. As the day when on and I took a closer look at it all, I saw how truly uneven the entire thing was, so many spots of long hairs left behind, and now a week later he's still uncomfortable on his bottom. Will never come back here and hope you know what a poor job they do before trusting them with your fur baby! They did a rushed job and it was completely awful. Could have done better in the back yard with my shears.

Oscar the day I picked him up.

Last August, after a two week trip to Cali, went to pick up my 15 year old dog Oscar from PP and found him like this - lethargic, dehydrated, skin and bones. During the trip, I called several times to make sure he was ok. They always told me he was fine, that he was eating and sleeping. But when I arrived, the receptionist mentioned he had been having diarrhea for days. I took him to the vet, He was 5 pounds when he was normally 8! His stool was bloody. He died a week later. It took a while to post this, because it wasn't clear who was to blame (his age or lack of care). But what I still can't accept is the fact that PP looked at him and thought he was doing ok, despite all my calls. The owner even tried to argue with me about it when I refused to pay. Losing my dog cause me to tailspin. https://medium.com/@WriteinBK/losing-oscar-6f080f4520fa

My dog is pictured in the top left. I asked them to trim and cut his hair/fur to look like the the dog on the top right.

I really want to give this place more stars, but I simply cannot. Pros- They are extremely friendly and from what I can assume is gentle with my pup and gives a report of his behavior(good always) when i come back to retrieve him. They are usually quick with services ranging from a hr to hr and half. Cons- They never actually give me what I want. On the occasions that I brought my dog Leo there to be groomed they would cut his hair very low and would shave his face -_-. I'm not a fan of that as it makes my puppy look very old and sick looking. I thought maybe they did this because they may have misinterpreted what I wanted. I brought him back to give them another try, but brought a pic with me this time because I assumed maybe my communication of what I wanted was off originally. As I said this time around I brought in a picture of a dog that looked like my dog to show them exactly what I wanted. This time was worse as they shaved him completely down and he has hardly any hair on him and looks extremely skinny and malnourished. I ended up having to put a hoodie on him because he look just ridiculous. To put the icing on the cake they left his face very full so he looks like a bobble head and did not make it proportioned with the shaved down cut they gave him :(. I'm just confused at how they missed the mark when I showed them a pic of exactly what I wanted. This is the second or third time I've been here and have been dissatisfied each time and will no longer be returning. I wish I had waited patiently for his primary groomer to have an open spot available. In the picture I've attached you will see what he normally looks like (top left), what I wanted (top right) and unfortunately what they gave him (bottom pics). I'm very upset to say the least because if they could not produce this I wish they would have been very upfront and I would have waited. For $70 bucks a grooming I can no longer waste my money on something I never receive. Sigh... he no longer looks like my 8mo old pup Edit: I originally marked them down to 1 Stars due to the quality of the cut, but I've since moved them up to 3 stars due to the apology and clarification of why/how the cut may have went wrong again. I appreciate them following up! While I might not be a customer again, I do appreciate the customer service they have shown! Thank you!

    Her skin is visible!

The worst grooming my dog has ever received! Very nice people, but they had no idea what they were doing. Shaved/ Chopped unevenly and her belly was all scraped up. I will not return.

I was nervous about taking our dogs there after reading some of the reviews, but was pleased with the results! Both of my dogs were treated well, the cuts are super cute, and the staff was friendly. I'll definitely be returning!

    So happy!

I was very specific with my instructions. No clippers, full hand strip, trim only as needed. I provided reference photos of what I wanted and even offered to send a website link that had a detailed description of how to groom this breed (since it's not one many people have ever seen, let alone worked on) along with diagrams but the person I spoke to said it wouldn't be needed. Wearily, I took her word. What I got back was not what I was expecting and frankly, it doesn't look the best. My dog is not a schnauzer, but they seemed to have given him a schnauzer skirt for some reason. He's overtrimmed when the breed is meant to look rough and natural. Besides that, the handstrip job itself looks decent with very minimal balding so that's one of the positives. I'm just disappointed that my instructions and references weren't followed as closely, especially for the price I paid.

Despite specifically asking that my deceased dog not be mentioned, this boundary was disregarded. That alone was upsetting and unacceptable. In addition, over the past four years I have spent hundreds of dollars at your establishment, yet I have repeatedly experienced incomplete grooming services while still being charged the full amount each time. I also do not understand why it consistently takes four hours to groom a five-pound dog, particularly when details are routinely missed. Beyond the services themselves, there has been a persistent lack of acknowledgment and basic client consideration, which is disappointing given the length of time I've been coming to you (since 2019). I am generally a very easygoing person, but between the repeated boundary violations, the inconsistency in services provided, and the lack of accountability, I have lost all confidence in your business. I will not be returning.

The team is incredibly warm, thorough, and genuinely invested in the well-being of every dog who walks through their door. What I love most is that their philosophy of dog care mirrors high-quality child care -- attentive, structured, and deeply compassionate. It aligns perfectly with the kind of love and care that I give Tucci at home, which makes it easy to trust them and feel safe sending him there. One of my favorite parts of the day is receiving the photos and videos they send. It's clear from every update that Tucci is happy, engaged, and in great hands. He loves it there! Hello! I wanted to kindly remind this business that it is illegal to perform "working interviews"…read morewithout compensation. Working interviews are legally considered trial employment, which requires at least minimum wage. When asked by a prospective employee if this will be a paid trial, the owner responded to them saying that if that matters to them, the job probably won't work out. Aside from legally, that's pretty morally gross. Especially in the current job market. Nobody should be expected to work for free, even if that job involves hanging out with dogs! Dogs are great. We love our dog. We love him so much, we even feed him! Which is hard to do when being denied pay for labor. Just something for this business to consider changing moving forward, and maybe something prospective employees and clientele should be aware of.

Our dog Millie, has been going to hi-bk for over two years and has loved it since day one. Her tag starts wagging the second we mention she's going to daycare, and scratches the door to get in if the door isn't opened fast enough. She loves the staff, always takes a moment to say goodbye before heading home after greeting us, especially if it's Richmond at the desk. They have strong guidelines about vaccines, dog's health, temperament tests, crate testing for boarding, and more which always made me feel very confortable and assured that they're putting these procedures in place to keep HI-BK safe for all staff and dogs.
