Super thrilled with the entire experience, the cleaning was thorough but gentle - highly recommend this practice! So many other dentists out there are just out to make a quick buck and recommend (or even mandate) procedures that are NOT necessary. I had gone to another dentist in the area that told me they wouldn't even do a simple cleaning unless I paid over $1000 (out of pocket!) for all kinds of nonsense. This was super odd since I had been going to the dentist regularly in Michigan and never had an issue. Luckily Dr. Guedes is an honest guy and said my teeth and gums "look great" - which aligns with what my former MI dentist said. I'm so glad to have finally found a great dentist in the PVB area!!

I went through two 6 month cycles and set an appointment for my next exam. When i went for my next exam, i received what i thought was an unreasonable amount of money that i owed. When i asked at the desk on the way out, i was informed that they still accepted my insurance but they were no longer in network. Feeling a little deceived i asked why i wasn't informed that they were no longer in network they proceeded to tell me that my wife and I were emailed about the change. I asked when the email was sent and when i checked i had received no such email on that date. Whenever they communicated with us before it was always by text message. So why claim to send an email that we might miss and actually never in fact was sent. My purpose here is not to denigrate their care but to advise people with insurance to make sure if they are in your network, they stay in your network when you go for care. The charge was more than double what my insurance would pay. I further think that they should post at the desk that they may no longer be in my insurance network. Them telling me that they will still accept my insurance is not a valid response to being out of network. Buyer beware of this underhanded ploy.

I was experiencing…read moresome intense pain from an old root canal/crown and am terrified of going to the dentist in general, but this place has given me hope for my dental future (aka keeping up my appointments). Dr. Mavec is a professional; nationally recognized and published. He served and has the title of Lt. as well, which is impressive in itself. The staff members are all friendly, honest and show a sense of compassion and genuine interest in you as a person. I did not feel like a "patient", but rather a friend coming to see some friends who are going to do a root canal haha. As a nurse, this is a cool feeling. The place is clean, high-tech and fully equipped for the ultimate patient satisfaction experience while in the chair. Dr. Mavec is knowledgeable, thorough and calming. He promotes relaxation in every way he can, and offers different ways to make the procedure less stressful. For example, there is a t.v on the ceiling to watch Netflix during your procedure if you so choose, you'll get headphones for sound so the drilling isn't AS bad as it usually is. Shades to keep the blinding light from intensifying the sensations and promoting a calm environment. My favorite? The warm blanket and the fact that the dentist chair warms up!! This releases the tension already present because you're at the Endodontist's and allows you to relax further. Dare I say I actually dozed off a little during my root canal: Yes I dare and I say!
