This is definitely one of the better diners in the area. It is usually pretty busy but there is a large parking lot so parking usually isn't a problem. Inside the diner it always very clean and the service is always great. I've tried a few different things from here and each one tasted great. The prices are also very fair for the serving sizes of the food. The nachos from here are a great deal! They are cheap, but taste delicious and make for a great appetizer to share for the table. NJ has tons of diners - and Pompton Queen is the best of them all. During this summer, I first discovered Pompton Queen after visiting the Subaru dealer nearby. Their COVID-friendly outdoor tent was great, with ample spacing between tables and friendly quick service. I've never had anything I didn't like from here. As with any diner, there are tons of options. But Pompton Queen has both the typical diner food and some different options. Personally, my favorite is their steak sandwiches. Their desserts are to die for. Specifically, the Baklava Cheesecake. This cheesecake takes two amazing desserts and combine them to give you a delicious combination. The slices are huge (typical diner fashion!) so just order one and share, or take home half to eat later. Just writing this review has me craving me some PQ!! read more

Our table of 5 was seated right away in a large comfortable booth that could have fit all of King Henry's wives. Coffee was served right out of the gate, but the espresso machine was on the fritz. So no extra boost for us. However, everything else was excellent. What we snagged: -The #1 (2 eggs, toast, hash brown, side of fruit) & a side of bacon to-boot. -Huevos Rancheros quesadilla. This thing could feed an army! And it came with a side of hashbrowns! You really Gt your $10 worth. As family lives right around the corner, we will 100% be visiting more often. This place was a close 5 stars! The food was really hot and fresh, perfectly balanced. We actually split a flatbread sandwich and onion rings so we could get dessert, but we were too stuffed! The case was ridiculously stocked with cakes, pies, cannolis...and on, and on! It will take me awhile to forget about it. Seriously. The wait staff was on top of everything and courteous. The thing that pulled the Diner back from 5 stars was the ladies' bathroom; it was a disaster of mostly used toilet paper cores everywhere. read more

Chatting briefly with him made me realize why I've been a patron for those thirty years. Old school values, down home menu, great atmosphere and fantastic service. Not easy being in the restaurant business now-a-days..a lot to put up with. Living in PA now, it is difficult to cross the river into NJ. Can I get an AMEN? 4 stars and 2 thumbs up for this diner. Visiting mom and we stopped here at 9:00 pm and there was a wait for a table so we grabbed the last two counter stools. Our server was amazing! Friendly, quick and efficient. Food was very good and prices fair. Potato soup could have been hotter, but matzah ball soup was hot and excellent. My BLT was good, but could have had more bacon and fresher tomatoes - but again it was still good. Mom's grilled cheese was very good . We didn't have desert but they looked amazing and tried their hardest to convince us to get some. It was a good meal and fun visit sitting at the counter with my elderly mom. read more

I always have a positive thing to say about this diner as I always recommend it to my friends but, today we waited an hour sitting at a table to be asked what we want to drink. After we waited 45 minutes for our food, a drink spilled and it sat neglected on the table for half an hour after we asked for it to be cleaned up with the dirty napkins we had to place on it in the mean time. I would usually think reviews like this are fake but I'm greatly disappointed in the great service we were denied to receive this evening. read more

Stopped in here yesterday for a late breakfast. Service was prompt and friendly. I got the egg-white omelette with turkey and spinach and hash browns. The omelette was cooked very nice but the hash browns looked like they were frozen out of a bag and thrown on the flat too. They didn't taste bad but i was hoping for better. Just ordered a Cheese & Bell Pepper Omlette tonight for takeout from the diner . I was absolutely stuffed after eating it! The portion was about three times the size of most diners and it tasted incredible. Their hash browns are the best and definitely fresh cut and made to order . They are even temporarily delivering now , due to the state stay-at-home orders in-place. Checked on us multiple times and anticipated our needs before we even needed to ask. We definitely ordered way more than we could eat, she so graciously packed up all our leftovers for us! I can't Believe The PQ closes at midnight !!!!!I I as well as many others used to go there at 2,3, or 4am after the Bars closed. Now if I am up at Midnight or 1am and want a delicious Hamburger or a Turkey Club Sandwich I can't go to the PQ because they're Closed!!! This Diner gets packed on weekends. I had dinner here on a Saturday night with a party of 5 and it took us at least 25 minutes to get seated. The staff were really hustling and moving. They seemed a little rude, but they were just doing their job of serving people as fast as they could. The food here is pretty good and there is a lot of variety. I had an Omelette and it was pretty filling. The sampler platter was large enough for us to all share. They also come with ranch, honey mustard, and sour cream. It all tasted fresh. Unfortunately, today's experience was quite sad. We were a table of 4; the diner was not over crowded when we were seated, in fact, there was no wait when we arrived. The hash browns, which we asked for well done, were barely cooked and tasted strange and cold like they made with rotten potatoes. We had ordered Belgian waffles asking for no whipped cream - they arrived with whipped cream. We weren't offered more coffee until our plates were cleared. The state of the diner is quite sad too. Has been under renovations for a few months now, seeing what looks like spackling happening after hours above the glasses leaves a bad taste in your mouth. I hope this diner just had an off day cause it has always been one of my faves but sadly it appears to be going the way of so many other diners... down hill. read more

Since I live nearby, my family and I have been coming here for over 20 years. We've been here through Bobby's cancer to two remodeling jobs. The food is always top notch. They use the freshest ingredients and their chefs are very knowledgeable. The atmosphere is electric and their new drink selection, where you can get just about anything, is awesome.
