I rarely leave negative reviews, but the service we experienced was unacceptable. From the moment our order was taken, our waitress seemed completely uninterested in our table. Our drinks were never brought out, and after waiting over 40 minutes we had to ask for them ourselves. After waiting an hour for our food, we asked about the delay because multiple tables that arrived after us were already eating. We were simply told it would be coming soon, and that was the last interaction we had with our waitress. Another employee eventually brought our food. Throughout the entire meal, no one checked to see if we needed refills, condiments, or if everything was satisfactory. When we finished, our waitress never returned with the check, forcing us to find another staff member to help us. Meanwhile, she had plenty of time to socialize with other tables and even chat with friends outside the restaurant. I've eaten at many restaurants and can honestly say this was some of the worst service I've ever experienced. Good food can sometimes make up for a delay, but complete neglect and arrogance from the wait staff cannot. Unfortunately, this experience left us with no desire to return. read more

This place is awful. There food may be good, but its not worth all the hassle. Ypu need to make reservations far in advance, which is fine, but when making a to-go order there is misinformation. First you have to do it online. Then the website states it will take 1 hrs and 45 min after you order and pay! You cannot cancel once its made, so I immediately called. Then I had to call four times to get someone to answer the phone. Then the girl on the phone said its almost done and will be ready in 10 minutes. I show up 20 minutes later and its not done. Love this spot in Bristol. It's very small and reservations via OpenTable are the only real way to get in during prime times. Food has been consistently outstanding on numerosos occasions. Outdoor patio with enclosure has greatly increased availability. Very cozy and charming spot suitable for date night as well as family dinning. Pastas were amazing. We heard about this Italian pizza place and restaurant from our friends Paul and MaryAnn, so we met them for dinner. They take reservations and we got a table outside under the canopy. Christina was our waitress and she was friendly and very efficient. We got thee things and all of them were excellent. For food, we got the Caesar salad, Pomodoro pizza, chicken piccata and a pasta dish with sausage and broccolini rabe. Loved everything, everything came out pretty quick. Caesar salad was very good and had minimal dressing. The sauce on the pizza had a slight sweetness to it which was interesting. Piccata was amazing, loved the sauce. There was a time when I wanted to go out for Italian food, only Pomodoro's would do, Now, my last 2 visits were terrible, my wife had Lasagne that was so dry, it needed sauce, especially on the bottom, but more overall, and I had Veal Marsala, which is normally exceptional, now the sauce in my plate looked like brown water, with no taste at all, what happened to the Marsala, mashed potatoes were runny, sent it back, left hungry again! What I came to realize is I usually go on Weds. or Thurs. and I came to find out that Mark the Owner, and fantastic cook, doesn't usually work on those days! Well however is cooking the meals we had, needs some training, cause it was pathetic! I guess the attention is all put towards weekend buss. Cause it never was the case, Wow how times have changed! I haven't been back in months, when I visited a few times a month, now I don't want to go thru that experience again, and I'm not Happy, cause this Was my FAV, ITALIAN Rest. Out there, now I opt for somewhere else, I hope going forward that things change, but I guess you just have to go when Mark is there, but I don't like the Rush and and crowds the weekend brings, I rather cook for myself and my wife at home! Heard great things so made an effort to arrive at the restaurant on time, walking 15 minutes in the pouring rain. So first off, I don't know how I have never reviewed Pomodoro before, as we have been coming here for years. They are byob, but with limited seating, it is far easier to just get takeout and enjoy a meal somewhere by the water. They call themselves a pizzeria; however I have never even thought of trying their pizza (even though I hear it is very good) with so many delicious Italian dishes on the menu. Our favorite is probably their chicken parm. Their "gravy" is homemade and beyond delicious! Their portions are very generous as well and they are extremely affordable! This trip I tried the veal parm, to compare with the chicken. It comes with pene pasta and their house gravy. I did enjoy it, and it had absolutely no faults, but the fork tender chicken was the winner of the two (eggplant is awesome as well). We love Bristol and love the food scene in this area. Why haven't I come here sooner!! I had been wanting to try this place for some time - we ended up ordering takeout last week and I was completely impressed! Nestled in a residential neighborhood in Bristol - it's a small but quaint spot. From what I know, reservations are very necessary. Took me about 5 times to get through to ordering via phone but finally got through. You can order online, however there's no option on the online ordering site for special requests. When I did get through, service was very friendly and accommodating. Order was ready in the 30 mins I was promised and they even call or text you when it's ready! We ordered the chicken parm, veal parm with pink sauce (requested to make it spicy) and a large pomodoro pizza. Everything was delicious! Prob some of better Italian I've had and the pink vodka sauce is among one of the best I've had. Now let's talk about the pizza - the crust is something else! It's as if Detroit style, NY style and RI party pizza had a baby and this is what came out of it. I'm probably completely wrong but that's what was going through my head as I was eating it lol. Pomodoro pizzeria is by far my favorite Italian restaurant, and easily the best Italian food I've eaten except for in Italy itself. We have eaten here maybe 25 times(!) over the course of a couple of years. Pomodoro is practically as big of a staple in Bristol as the parade is. We realized during pandemic that from Pomodoro, we now tend to prefer takeout as the restaurant was always so crowded, very hot, EXTREMELY noisy before. The food kind of made up for all of that but it was literally exhausting to not be able to hear yourself talk sometimes. It was always difficult to hear the server too. You could sometimes sit shoulder to shoulder to others with the tables so close together. We did do outdoor dining once which was awesome because there was no noise. Their Bolognese is incomparable to anything I've ever eaten before. Rich, creamy, decadent, it just screams comfort food. The portions here at Pomodoro are very generous and prices are reasonable for the quality. The service has always been great. Pomodoro previously did not take reservations but started doing this within the last year or so, which is MUCH better than the old format of needing to put yourself on a wait list and then waiting 30-60 mins for a table to open. The only barrier to us ordering from here more often is that when getting takeout we need to dial (no joke or exaggeration) literally at least 50 times to get through, otherwise you get a busy signal. It has sometimes deterred us from ordering since on a Friday or Saturday night it can take a good 20-30 minutes to get through just to place an order. But well worth it. It's clear Pomorodo is enjoying huge success and demand for their food, and I always wonder what it would be like if they expanded to a bigger place or opened a second location. read more

I am reaffirming my previous rating and review of this excellent tiny joint in Bristol. Today, we stopped in for lunch for some Cesar salad and Parma sandwich. That's all we had but simple and freshly made salads and sandwiches always trump complicated dishes for me. When you see the menu, there are no complicated dishes. These folks know how to make the simple, yet classic dishes by using the freshest ingredients. I never get bored with their dishes because anything that is prepared fresh, honoring the ingredients, pleases my palate. Simple is often the best way to prepare and serve the food. In the summer time, they turn their little driveway into a cozy al fresco dining area.
