I ain't afraid of no ghost! Having ridden Kings Island's 'Flight of Fear' (back when it still had "The Outer Limits" attached to its title), I have to say that the experience just doesn't compare. They share an identical track layout, but 'indoor plus theming' versus 'outdoor minus theming' is like comparing apples to.....celery. One of them keeps the doctor away, and the other isn't good unless it's loaded up with peanut butter and raisins. [editor's note: how did I go from roller coasters to picnic food? me so crazy] Point is, only in the outdoor version can you actually see the spaghetti bowl that is Premier Rides' quadruple-inversion coaster track. I say 'spaghetti bowl' because it operates on a very compact footprint and the abundance of track gives a convoluted appearance that works indoor (as it's hidden amidst darkness) but sitting in the light of day just looks messy. The sad attempt at theming the station to look like a haunted mansion (hence the ride's name) is totally half-assed and out-of-place, although to be fair, thorough ride theming was never Six Flags' strength. For whatever reason, this coaster was sponsored/presented by göt2b Styling Glue, and with the pervasive amount of hanging banners, ads plastered on the walls--and even the train itself--this coaster might as well be called Extreme HairGel: The Ride. It was stupid. Ride experience wise, a little rough on the body, but not too bad. The initial launch is lots of fun, and like most rides, front row is the way to go. Dispatching was quick and the wait times were short on my visit. Cars are rather cramped and NOT at all comfortable for guests with long legs (like yours truly). ~Special ride elements~ *LIM launch (0-60mph in 3.5 seconds) *Cobra roll *Sidewinder *Corkscrew Worth a ride or two. But do it twice in the front, and once in the rear! Giggity. reviewed by the ©ôa§†è® Júñk¡ë

Six Flags Fiesta Texas - Boomerang

Six Flags Fiesta Texas

(1.1k reviews)

Six Flags Over Texas is easily one of the more visually unique parks in the chain …read more The setting really stands out - it's built against a quarry wall, which gives it a cool backdrop you don't see at most theme parks. I also loved the consistent Hispanic/fiesta-style theming throughout the park. It adds a fun, vibrant energy that makes the whole place feel lively and different. Getting into the park was surprisingly smooth and fast, which is always a great way to start the day. Once inside, the atmosphere is super energetic with lots going on, but be ready for crowds - especially on busy days. A couple things to plan for: parking is pretty expensive ($39 for general and $55 for premier), so keep that in mind when budgeting your trip. Also, the Texas heat is no joke, so definitely come prepared with water, sunscreen, and maybe a game plan to stay cool. Overall, it's a fun, high-energy park with a unique look and vibe. If you can handle the heat and crowds, it's a great place to spend the day.

I don't know why the low ratings. The membership to get in free here (and the water park here) any…read moreday the parks are open is only $8 a month. $8 a month! Maybe it's just me, a single mom of 3 who just moved here from California, but that is a darn good price! Not to mention- my little family of 4 gets into a whole bunch of other parks for free too- including Schlitterbahn! Yes, Texas gets HOT, but there are plenty of places to sit inside with some ac. There are two things I would do to improve the park- better food for the meal plan and more shaded areas outside. But still...$8 a month means I'm giving this park a 5. Lastly, there's rides for all ages. So that is awesome too.

Batman: The Ride - Batman the Ride

Batman: The Ride

This was one of the first 4D coaster at the park and is a clone across all of the other Six Flags…read morepark. The ride entrance can be confusing as it blends within the shops. The theme inside is cool and operations do run pretty fast. The ride experience is different and I ended up flipping around 3 times here. Overall, it is a good ride.

New and exciting? Yes. Cutting-edge, '4D', and "first of…read moreits kind"? Hardly. Six Flags touted their most recent installation of a Batman themed roller coaster as being unlike anything else anywhere on the planet [more on that later]. What makes this ride unique is that you're situated on either side of the track, not above or below it. At certain points along the (short) course, magnetic kickers induce rotation which provides riders with 6 or more flips per go. Each 2-person car is free to rotate on its axis, completely independent of the other car's motion, so in a sense every ride is different. But because I'm a roller coaster enthusiast, I know that nothing at all makes this coaster '4D', like the promotional materials state. The track layout is planar and the cars only have uniaxial rotation........so where do the other 'D's' come into play? Also, this isn't the first of its kind, since coaster manufacturer Intamin has 3 of these 'freespin' models scattered around the world and 1 in California. There's essentially nothing new or ground-breaking with this variant of Batman: The Ride, even though Six Flags marketing states otherwise. Don't buy into their nonsense propaganda!! That being said, it's a fairly intense ride, great for teens and adrenaline junkies like yours truly. Riding this was one of the ONLY times I've ever had to remove my sunglasses, for fear of having them knocked off my head from the jarring motions. The elevator-style lift was enjoyable, and the randomness of the rotations keeps you on your toes. As luck would have it, I wound up oriented noggin-first during the coaster's biggest drop, so all the blood rushed straight to my head. That was pretty wild. Few people will notice, but early on in the queue line is an indoor area with various Batman stuff, among them a legit hologram of the coaster car. It was one of the only times I saw ride theming at SFFT, and the refined hologram was a very sleek touch. The Batmobile was nice and shiny, too. Definitely worth a ride on your trip to Fiesta Texas. Just don't go into it thinking that it's the only one of its kind in the world, cuz, well......it's not.
