Cucumbers in Sour Cream

My grandpa used to love to eat here, it's traditional Polish food close to home! He loved the duck blood soup, I prefer the cabbage! The cucumber salad is so delicious, I eat so much! My favorites are the kluski, the potato pancakes, the pierogis, and the crepes! You can get something called the Polish Feast, it has a little bit of everything! It's low frills and super authentic. Everyone is super nice and makes you feel like family!

The service was fast and friendly. Salads arrived first in short order. Soon after two perch dinners arrived. Very tasty and tender with good dumplings overflowing the plate. Six to eight pieces of perch deep fried to perfection. Large beer and wine choices as well. Polish themed food that's rib sticking good.

This place is authentic and delicious! They played contemporary Polish music which really set the vibe. Along with all of the Polish decor all over the place. The food was tasty, home cooking. Lots of choices and large portions for the price. Only one lady working the front of house and she was busy! Impressive family style atmosphere. Looking forward to being regulars!

We tried the fried kielbasa and pirogies. Portions of meat was small but very tasty. We also tried the pickle soup which was very good. Homemade bread with fresh butter was also a plus. Batters fries and don't forget to ask for the sour cream!. Service by Katie was excellent. Extremely clean restaurant. Ample off street parking . Ok meal of soup, two dinners fir $34 and change.

This place is known their pierogi and we probobly should have stuck to those. The pierogi and potato pancakes (polish latkas) were fantastic. The duck soup as my twelve year old said was "interesting but too ambitious ". The wienerschnitzel was too dry, the kielbasa and sauerkraut too bland. The cabbage rolls are too sweet... The place is very cute inside and has a lot of Polish memorabilia. If you like sweet wine, their cherry and honey wine is delicious. The staff is very friendly and accomodating but the place could use a good cleaning.

Polonus is one of the last remaining authentic Polish restaurants in Metro Detroit. At a time there were scores of them especially in Hamtramck and around Warrendale on the west side. Not anymore. There's a few on the west side, a few in Oakland County. I'm not sure about east side. The pierogi are good but small. They feature a platter dish, stuffed cabbage and city chicken. Dill pickel soup is not bad. Nalesniki was very good (jelly filled blintz dessert). Opened early 80's, close to downtown Wyandotte. Very festive inside. Lots of windows. Safe neighborhood. Lots of parking. Credit and cash. Overall the experience was good. I would absolutely go back. This is my number 3 in the area, Polish village in Hamtramck is my #2, Polish Cultural center (Wawel) in Troy is #1.

I've never had real polish food and my cousin dragged me here. She said it was the best that she's had even though she left Mi for the big Apple 20 years ago.

Happiness be National Pierogi Day 2022 a six pack of Bacon Taters w Onion's and Sour Cream Wowed. I added a link of Smoked Polish Kielbasa chopped up to stuff pcs inside Pierogi. Yes it's a fun delicious treat you need to try. The grandkids took over just after Covid, grandson a very talented chef and his wife Katie a superstar runs the front of house. They added some exciting new items and special flavors of Pierogi. I crave several times per year the Polish Soup Czarnina gets its name from the Polish word for "black"--czarny--referring to the soup's dark color. It is typically made with duck blood, dried fruits, and vinegar which prevents the blood from clotting, giving it a sweet-sour flavor, much loved by Eastern Europeans. They add jumbo Raisins and thin Spatzle Noodles a whole bowl on the cheap very best ever eaten WOW. She had the Famous Hungry Pole Plate a little of everything with Polish Creamy Cucumber outstanding. Ms Katie has added fancy cocktails for the young crowd in Wyandotte. Truly excited to see what the next couple decades bring. Grandma and two son's constructed the place from ground up back in the 80's, so Happy keeping in the family. #polonusrestaurant @polonus_restaurant #polishfood #nationalpierogiday #polishcombo #czarnina #pierogi #downriverclassic #downriverfriendseat

Always a good bet for Polish food. Pierogis and potato pancakes are always good. We will be back when that craving hits.

The service is outstanding but the food leaves a lot to be desired. Did enjoy the Dill Pickle soup but the Potato Pancakes, not so much.

I was sleeping in rather than eating breakfast at the hotel--it was a Saturday!--so after my dad…read moreand brother finished eating there, they stopped by Liberati's to pick up food for lunch later since we wouldn't have time to go out for lunch between watching the Notre Dame football game on TV and attending the Notre Dame women's basketball game in person. I didn't even see the place (although I did choose it), but my dad really liked it. It reminded him of one of the Claro's Italian Markets in Southern California. I was looking forward to my slices of cheese pizza, but my brother called from the deli to inform me that they only had pepperoni by the slice. Look, I get it. Most people want pepperoni, and when you're serving by the slice, you can't try all these random combos that people might not eat. But no cheese? As in the most basic pizza option? That feels wrong. When I had my veggie sandwich a little later, it was very good. My brother had persuaded the guy to throw in some additional mushrooms. The bread was top notch, and I enjoyed the sandwich. For the price, it should have either been larger or included more vegetables, cheese, all of the above, anything. My dad really enjoyed his sandwich, but my brother was left wanting by his meatball sub. The local-brand potato chips were a nice touch. They use way too much plastic wrap.

Wow, what a great find today! Local area Italian bakery/grocer/deli that offers a lot of great…read moretasting food for quick carryout along with a large deli and bakery. We tried several items and would easily get all of them again: Pizza slices - generously sized square slices $2.69/slice; crunchy crust, small cup pepperonis, not too greasy and all together a great tasting slice but could use a few more pepperonis per slice Meatball sub- GREAT sauce and meatballs, and I am picky about eating anyone else's meatballs other than my own Off the Boat Hoagie: spicy capicola and other spicy coldcuts and cheese (couldn't remember them all) baked inside an extra large soft roll, served warm. It was VERY GOOD. At first seemed like a lot of bread in proportion to deli cuts, but it was a perfect ratio given the spiciness of the coldcuts inside. Cannoli - light shell and filling, not overly sweet. Really liked that they used a dusting of chocolate powder (not bitter cocoa) on the ends vs hard chocolate chips. This has become my new favorite bakery for cannolis! Definitely coming back here to try more of their hot and cold subs and dishes like lasagna, pasties, soups and pasta. Other than those fantastic cannolis they have other delectable pastries, breads, cookies and desserts to try. They also carry specialty Italian grocery items, a large deli with a good selection of meats and cheeses and cold takeout fridges with pastas, whole pizzas and lasagna to bake at home. Very friendly staff, consistent stream of customers picking up subs, pizza slices, breads, and 3 small tables with chairs in the store to sit and enjoy the food if you can't wait until you get home.
