I commute for work so I eat out daily I try to pick "healthy " options as this is one of them and use to frequent these locations often as I would get the sauce on top of the tropichops. Staff have always had a hard time putting th sauce on top but I think recently it's become policy for them to only put it in ramekins (sauce containers) only giving two & they only have a drop of sauce inside. This is not a one off occurrence as anytime I get the sauce on the side they are not even filled half way. Lucky to get 1/3 of sauce. read more

This location has gone down. Inside is filthy. I ordered on the app and when I went to pick up at the time the app originally told me, they said it would be an hour even though they weren't busy. The food isn't even that great. The large portions aren't much bigger than the regular portions. Mac n cheese container wasn't even filled. Ordered a large plantains and got a small. Tropichop wasn't full either. I won't be back. Too many other options around to keep getting disappointed with this one. read more

Was very hungry and stopped by after a long day of work in Uber, I stop by and ordered ordered chicken platter to dine in and Ricky was awesome with explaining the dish the health factors. I went to use the restroom and came back to order was ready but I noticed that my chicken was a little smaller than I thought for the order that I placed so I told Ricky, "I'm a big guy" Ricky immediately ran to the back and got me a bigger size chicken for my order and I enjoyed every moment of it. Josh is a great manager. This place has really turned around. Super clean inside. Very tasty food!

No cuban sandwiches ?? It's a Hispanic restaurant!!! I went there specifically for a cuban because they made great cuban sandwiches

WORST FOOD EVER!!! Ordered Ropa Vieja. The rice was like glue. The pork, onions, peppers had no juice to cure the problem. The black beans were so dry they did not resolve the dry issue either. The $15 bowl looked NOTHING like the billboard just up Dale Mabry from this store. I will NEVER be back to this store and probably not to any other Pollo Tropical if this is an example of what to expect. If I had my receipt (it was not in the bag nor was it offered), I would be able to pinpoint the exact order for you. My Visa was charged $30.72 at 7:49pm on 11/22/25. read more

Just leaving Moffitt in Tampa, stopped at Pollo Tropical for a bite. Had pulled pork sandwich and 1/4 chicken w yellow rice and black beans. Very very tasty and satisfying. Thank you. Pollo tropical is my go to when they're around me. Two chicken breasts, rice and beans $8.49 - for the healthy conscious people. You can also go crazy and get a Cuban sandwich or tostones dressed like pizza. $10 and up. It's definitely not gourmet food but it's fast and convenient, also a healthier alternative. read more

I have only been to this Pollo Tropical location twice in my life (once in 2017 and once in 2024) and it has changed drastically between those two visits. Back when Pollo Tropical wasn't super popular, this was one of few locations in South/Central Florida. It was a unique gem my family and I discovered to have some authentic Cuban and Puerto Rican inspired foods such as arroz con pollo and sweet plantains. Back then, it was a clean establishment with nice seating options, quick service, and large portions. While portions are still a great bang for your buck, the rest has gone severely downhill. I did not see any people cleaning the store while customers ate when I went earlier this year. There was rice and beans all over the ground, seats, and tables, and the service was slower than before due to an influx of popularity for this chain. I would like to emphasize the Americanization and urbanization of this restaurant that is deteriorating the quality of the food and the authenticity of the overall experience. Pollo Tropical's 'About Us' section on their website states "Miami roots and a recipe for fresh 24-hour citrus-marinated chicken, Pollo Tropical® began offering guests across Florida a creative take on traditional Cuban dishes, as well as foods from other parts of Latin America, over 35 years ago." This is just no longer the case! In 2024, the vibes and interior decoration of Pollo Tropical are drastically different from 2017. I remember the old Pollo Tropical layout having more of a play on Latin American design: patchwork seat fabric, yellow lighting, Latin wall art, etc. Now, it just looks like a minimalist generalization of 'tropical' environments. Though there is a large Hispanic population there, it is so oversimplified with beiges, teals, and greens that it alters the entire experience, thus diminishing Latin culture and design. Given that the popularity of this chain has grown dramatically, I hoped they would have improved their quality and menu accordingly. However, when I looked at the menu in 2017 versus 2024, I was shocked at how many previous options were done away with. My theory is there are more American and Cuban dishes in order to bring in a larger crowd, but that reduces the options for those of us who came for an authentic taste for cheap prices. What I miss most are the palette-cleansing guava bars that came with each meal. Now, there are only large desserts and no small treats. My grandfather from Puerto Rico himself is particularly disappointed with how Pollo Tropical has valued quantity over quality in recent years. Particularly at this establishment the dishes feel slapped together. We come here with a craving for that authentic original taste, but there are too many changes to the menu for that to happen. read more

Alas....sorry to see the demise of the fun tasty Tropichop---as the Pollo Tropical on Dale Mabry and Bearrs is rapidly disintegrating! WEnt in the other Tuesday, for a $5 TRopichop (advertised on their FB page) .....however.....the "manager on duty" was completely perplexed; then almost called me a liar--even though I showed her PT webpage! And this was 6 pm and there was only ONE CUSTOMER in dining room! Not only are prices now up to $7.99 .... ******but my last Tropichop had chicken bones I almost choked on (see pics). ******* So I get choked...called a liar....and basically booted out of an empty restaurant? I was never even able to get "manager" to even write her name and restaurant number and give me corporate's phone number. EXTREMELY UNDERTRAINED this "manager." So go here IF you like choking on chicken bones....and being told company FaceBook posts are not real! **********All for a $5.00 Tropichop!************ read more

I ordered the Avocado Grilled Chicken TropiChop for lunch. I liked that the bowl wasn't extra saucy. My ordered came with more sauce on the side though so that's a plus!! I hate when my food is drenched and soggy from too much sauce. Because I ordered from UberEats, I wish I could have ordered my bowl with no beans because it made the bowl mushy. I ordered a side of plantains which were very delicious, but a bit too oily for me. I'd definitely order this again, but next time I'll have to go into the restaurant and customize my order. The TropiChop itself was very tasty. read more

Pollo Tropical - Avocado Cilantro TropiChop - Grilled - Latin American Near Me - Tampa, Florida

Pollo Tropical is a chain restaurant that specializes in grilled chicken and Latin/Caribbean inspired food. I've eaten at this branch a handful of times, mostly after Transformers hunting in the adjacent Target. The interior is generally clean, though sometimes a few wrappers/receipts are lying around. The ordering is similar to most fast food restaurants(order at the front and go when receipt number is called). The employees are efficient , but not the most effervescent. They offer chicken sandwiches, tropichops (rice/meat/veggie bowls), sides like sweet plaintains, and desserts like flan or cheesecake slices. What's cool is that they have 5-6 distinct sauces you can apply to your food at a sauce station nearby. This also carries jalapenos and onions that are diced. One of these is Cilantro Garlic. This is basically my raison d'etre for coming here. I usually get the yellow rice/chicken/veggie bowl and load up on the Cilantro garlic sauce. Its one of the few condiments/sauces that fits into "CRACK" status. The chicken pieces are juicy and well cooked but there are few pieces just like Chipotle/Moes' et al. The rice and veggies are serviceable imo. Flan and cheesecake were solid and are priced well ($2.50). This branch is generally filled older hispanic people and families and is busy at lunch but not really in the evenings. There is a drive thru but sometimes they forget the sauces. I recommend dine in if possible. Most people would probably rate this 3/5 but the chicken/CG sauce bumps it up to 4/5 for me. read more

This was my first time here ever . The customer service was horrible I was in the drive thru and the employee was rushing me to order and they were rude and they charged me for avocado and did not inform of the extra charge. Also I was the only one in the drive thru. When I had received my food I asked for sauce and they threw my sauce so violently in to the bag that it burst open. When I had opened my food the race tasted old and it was mushy . IF I COULD RATE ZERO STARS I WOULD!!! read more

workers who work the drive through are rude, orders are constantly wrong, and portions are wayy smaller than other pollo tropicals in tampa

First, I like Pollo Tropical. I'm reviewing the chicken wings since they are new. This was my second time ordering them. My first experience, the wings seemed smaller and cooked to perfection. This order of wings was larger, and seemed to be more wet but done. I dont like wet chicken. The wings are fried naked and cooked to order, so that means fresh. I didnt request for them to be cooked longer because it took about 15 minutes to get them and I was starving. The wings have a similar citrusy taste as the regular chicken. They can be ordered as traditional or BBQ. Overall the wings are good. I will order the wings again and make a special request for smaller wings if possible and to cook longer. read more

Just finished our meal from Pollo Tropical store #10122 on N. Dale Mabry. It was our first time here but won't be our last. We got a TropiChop bowl, plantains and a cuban sandwich. The big plus is the food was much tastier, healthier and cheaper than any fast food chains I know of! read more

What a horrible experience at this Pollo Tropical. Place is dirty, garbage overflowing and no utensils!!! I asked an employee about why is this place so dirty and he apologized but he said he walked into this that is not his fault. Danny the manager is supposedly on the grill. I'm really sure they are short staff but clientele should not feel that we are eating in a dirty place. The manager came out to apologize at the end, which I thought it was a nice gesture- apparently 3 people called out and one trainee on the cashier. That made me feel better at the end, but i don't think my wife would like to come back here because it was really dirty. read more

I have been to this place twice. The food here is good. There is good grilled master behind the kitchen make the grilled chicken great. We have the two dishes for $10.99 with our coupon in the mail. It make the food very economical. We have quarter grilled chicken and one tropical chop. For the chop, we selected the mojo pork. Both dishes are delicious. The chicken grilled perfectly with good marinate. We also have the fried yuca. The yuca is cut into cube. I like the cube better because the batter cover more area. We did not try their drive through but the inside order is quick. There are plenty of parking spot at the facility. After eating, they pickup the dishes. What a service for the fast food. I can see I will be back. I always love their mojo base grilled chicken. read more

We've only dined here once despite it being relatively close to home. I really wanted to like this place but just couldn't. My daughter's Mac and cheese was literally boiled noodles with shredded cheese on top....not even mixed together, very dry and gross. She didn't even eat it. Definitely didn't look like the picture. My hubs and I had the tropichop bowl with the rice and chicken w/a side of plantains. The food was just ok....nothing to rave about and clearly it's not brought us back in. read more

Masks are required but not all employees are wearing masks! The manager himself is not setting an example! His mask is under his nose! I complained about an employee who refused to pull his mask up! The employee was wearing his mask on his chin! Claimed he could not wear a mask cause he could not breathe! Well none of us can breathe well in masks! The manager did not make him pull up his mask instead told him to go to the back room until we left! I can promise, I won't be back! Two stars for the rice and beans. Skip everything else. I am not picky at all, and I recognize this is fast food quality food, but come on now. The chicken was so dry I couldn't swallow it without water. The fried yuca was so incredibly hard, I choose to believe it was sitting out since last week and somehow accidentally got put in my order. Went after a long day of running errands and was starving. The wait wasn't too long, which was nice, but the food was another story when getting back home. The food seemed to lack seasonings and just all-around dull. Some food was hard to chew while others just looked & tasted dull. More onions than pork in my meal. My son's food looked miserable. Walked in 50 mins before closing and the cashier was rude saying she did not expect so many people to order food right before closing. (3 people ordered). Then Constantly mentioned how we came so late to her team, while we were right there. People playing in the back, not working.. I had to check my watch to make sure I wasn't wrong with the time. I blame customer service for this one. Before I went to write my review, I read other comments, and each time "customer service" responds (Victor and Sebastian) with lip service. Months and months of bad reviews and nothing but apologies and saying it was unacceptable. CLEARLY IT IS ACCEPTABLE. You have done NOTHING to clean up this location or your employees attitudes and work ethic. Every single time I go they're out of something. EVERY TIME. Additionally, my order is wrong EVERY TIME. Tonight was the last straw. 8 pm on a Friday. No yellow rice. No macaroni. No corn. No peppers. No onions. What a joke. The place was an absolute mess and when they ONCE AGAIN messed up my order (I paid for cheese on the tropichop bowl - they forgot it, happens every time) and they made it seem like it was my fault. I'm going to corporate on this one. District manager should be ashamed. read more
