Slop Sandwich
Candie S.

This is the garbage, the slop you get at Pollo Tropical, the manager should be fired as well as staff. The franchisor should lose his/her franchise. How does Pollo Tropical corporate ignore the multiple bad reviews and allow this slop to be served. I wouldnt feed this to a dog! Gave them a second shot, the order was wrong had to go back. No english no service no quality checks in place. Very dumb people working there but they want $15 an hour. No thanks.

Burnt edges on crispy chicken, bottom was worse

This is the worst Pollo I've ever been to, hands down. I've gone multiple times and every time I've had bad experiences, so this will be the last time. When we got there the line was so long that I felt like something was going on, but we were pretty hungry so we decided to wait rather than drive around looking for somewhere else. Pretty much everyone in front of us was told to park or left, the line was super slow and it about 30 minutes to get our food, which I could have understood if they weren't also screwing up every order they were making. There were three people at the front door with their orders getting them fixed, and at least one person who had to also go with the receipt because they charged them incorrectly. My partner parked and after waiting for a while, had to go up to the front door to even get our food. The chicken was close enough to burnt that it tasted like it, on top of the fact that the cheesy yuca bites were fried in the oddest way I've ever seen. I don't like leaving bad reviews especially because it's a fast food place, food service gets crazy and people work hard. It's been enough times though that something like this has happened that it's worth it to leave the review to deter people from going to this location and experiencing this. I can 100% say every time we've gone here it's been like this. If you like Pollo, go to another one. This one isn't worth the hassle. I hope it doesn't stay that way but I'm not gonna take the chance to see if it improves.

Pollo is the healthier version of fast food I always do drive thru when I come to this locAtion. the food is always fresh and they aren't cheap with their sauces. I am obsessed with their curry mustard sauce. The associates are also nice and accommodating. Pollo never disappoints. I always get the chicken with rice and beans and corn. Now whenever I go they never have the mac and cheese which I have been dying to try.

I had always pictured it as a fast food setting but it's not. Everything we ordered was delicious. Their chicken recipe is fantastic. The Coconut Lemonade was spectacular. Ambiance was modern and cozy. The service was first class. She explained the menu to us along with pictures of every dish. Who does that?? We felt so relaxed and satisfied. Can't wait to go again. Our server Crissel was an angel. She's a natural! Ask for the half off cocktails. Not sure of the times. Go and enjoy!

I had a chance to check out their Miami Lakes location Saturday to "balance out" after a cocktail tasting event at nearby venue. Their rotisserie chicken - even the half chicken portion - is pretty sizeable and well flavored with a tasty citrusy, tangy flavor, and the tequenos are my favorite side, right up there with the sweet plantains that came with the chicken. My server was really pleasant and attentive, and they even saved my souvenir bag from the cocktail event. The restaurant itself was clean, well maintained, and with plenty of windows to look out over the Miami Lakes street scene. One thing I would improve is with the extra fee for the nata (butter) sauce to dip the tequenos. It comes with a green sauce (cilantro?) that I am just not a fan off. I did ask my server to take it off and substitute it with the, and found out that it is a bit extra. I mean, it is a substitution. It's not like I'm asking an extra sauce.

P.T.'s lounge.... I…read moreremember back in the 90's when I was a young freshman at "The U" there used to be one of these on 27th Avenue and US 1 near the metrorail station. I would indulge in the BBQ sauce and soda. So one would think that being focused on fitness this might not be the first stop to eat at. But when working out nearby with my friend, this was one of the few places in Miami Lakes that was a) open later, b) less indulgent than a full service restaurant and c) I could come in sweaty after running. I ordered & enjoyed their small tropichop with brown rice, extra grilled chicken, black beans & sweet peppers. The ingredients tasted pretty fresh, and hit the spot. Compared to the other "paint by the numbers" kind of places, they didn't have pita bread so yeah less carbs. Why the lounge reference at the beginning? Well at least this Pollo Tropical in Miami Lakes had a TV in the corner showing a basketball game.

Instead of simply clarifying the order, the manager accused me of confusing the staff. I clearly explained that I wanted, I was so frustrated that I ended with two number 9 meals and one family meal totaling $40.97, but the manager continued with a rude attitude at the window. The order was not complicated, yet the interaction became unnecessarily difficult. Unfortunately, the customer service at this location has really gone downhill. To top it off the chickens were burned.

Our server was attentive; he provided additional ranch, made suggestions, and passed by the table frequently to make sure our experience was positive. My go-to every time I visit Sports Grill is pretty simple: an order of fries, some special grilled wings, and plenty of celery and ranch. This, accompanied by a Yuengling or two, and you've got a fantastic meal while enjoying the game. The special grilled wings have this underlying spice and charred flavor that's unlike any other wing. They had that crunch on the outside, and the chicken was tender but moist with every bite. My only issue is that the name implies it's grilled and the name could be a bit misleading. A lot of people prefer food be grilled and not fried. While the wing is still enjoyable, the server explained to me that they fry the wings first and then grill them. For the health conscious, this may be a bit of an issue. The fries were fresh and crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. The ambience is welcoming for your typical family, sports fans, or anyone looking to grab a drink. Obviously, it's a sports bar, so don't expect it to be quiet in here, especially now that football season is right around the corner. That said, with a plethora of plasma televisions, sports decor, a well-stocked bar, and a decent menu, you're sure to enjoy your visit.

When we walked in, it immediately reminded me of the build-your-own style concept (similar to Chipotle but for pizza), which I actually love because you can fully customize everything. The setup is simple: pick your crust, sauce, cheese, and toppings, and they make it right in front of you. The customer service was really good. The staff were friendly, patient, and generous with the toppings. They also had a deal going on if you buy three pizzas, you get two free sides (I believe garlic bread was one of the options), which is a nice bonus if you're dining with a group. I ordered the buffalo barbecue pizza, and my mom went with a veggie pizza. Both came out amazing. The crust was perfectly baked, the flavors were bold, and everything tasted fresh. While they do charge extra for additional toppings, they don't skimp when adding them, which I appreciated. Overall, it was a really delicious and satisfying meal. Great service, customizable options, and solid quality. We'll definitely be back.

Fortunately, a coworker pointed me toward Latin American Grill in Miami Lakes, just a few minutes from our hotel. It turned out to be exactly the sendoff I was hoping for. We started with the Sopa de Pollo, a bowl that made it immediately clear this kitchen isn't interested in shortcuts. Large chunks of chicken, tender vegetables, and noodles floated in a broth with remarkable depth. It wasn't simply chicken soup, it was the kind of soup that makes you wonder why every other version tastes so timid. A squeeze of fresh lime added just enough brightness to wake up every spoonful without distracting from the richness of the broth. Then came the reason for the visit. The Medianoche. I've always preferred the sweeter cousin of the traditional Cuban sandwich, and Latin American Grill makes a terrific one. Thick slices of ham and juicy mojo pork were layered with Swiss cheese, mustard, and pickles before being pressed between soft, sweet bread until the outside turned beautifully crisp. Every ingredient had a purpose. The pork brought richness, the ham added salt, the mustard and pickles cut through the fat with welcome acidity, and the sweet bread tied everything together. It's one of those sandwiches that reminds you how satisfying simplicity can be when every component is done well. Sometimes the best restaurant recommendations don't come from guidebooks or social media. They come from someone who simply says, "You should eat here." In this case, they were absolutely right. A great Cuban sandwich doesn't need reinvention. It just needs great ingredients, careful execution, and a hot press. Latin American Grill delivers all three.
