The smoked roast chicken is great, some of the best I have had and the price is very good too. For $14 you get a whole chicken with sauces and rice and beans. Oh also corn tortillas are included in the deal. Its a small portion of the rice and beans but still a great deal. Just driving by you can smell the chicken and it tastes as good as it smells. I have also had the Mexican Hamburgesa (hamburger). It was good a little different as it had a piece of ham on it. This burger is huge and more than one person and eat. I could not finish it. I LOVE El Pollo Regio! The chicken is soooo flavorful. Or if I were to say it in Spanish, que rico pollo. They cook the chicken on a grill, which you can smell as soon as you drive up or walk in. In addition to chicken, they have burgers, loaded baked potatoes, and more traditional Mexican food. Even the chicken comes with rice and beans. This location is busy day and night because the chicken is so good. While I like to go in and eat sometimes, this location is great for grabbing food to go. My expert tip? Try the spicy green avocado sauce. It will burn your lips off but it's sooo good and soooo worth it. Just make sure to drink lots of water. read more

I think it was the location but I was disappointed in this one. They messed up the order, and the mole was not bueno at all. They literally took roasted whole chicken pieces and covered them with mole sauce which was grainy. That's it. Hard to eat. And they were out of churros! That sucked big time. How do you run out, it's one of the staples you should always have. Maybe that put a downer on my experience to. My poor churros....we did not have our time together. Wow. The drive-thru line gets ridiculously long during peak hours, but it's all worth it when you smell the mouth-watering aroma of roasted chicken. After trying it once, my boyfriend and I came to get it a second time in the same week. Yes, it was that good, and yes, the long line and average prices are so worth the amount of food. Highly recommend #1, which is a whole roasted chicken and two sides: beans and rice. They also throw in a few tortillas and salsa/green cream sauce, which all totals to about $17. It's easily enough to feed 3 people. During both visits, the chicken came heavily seasoned with a nice char along the edges. The meat is more on the dry side, but the sauces made up for that. My boyfriend usually downs the Mexican rice in 3 bites and leaves me, maybe, 5 grains. It's a very moist rice that has a slight tomato-like flavor with some spice. I'm a huge fan of the crack beans, which is a watery (almost soup-like) consistency. I don't usually eat beans, but when you throw in pieces of bacon and pork rinds, which they do, then I'm all for it. We're pretty huge on quesadillas, and the ones here are great. We always go for the beef, which gives us some variety from the chicken. If you ever order quesadillas in the drive-thru, it's going to be at least a 7 minute wait. They most likely make/heat them when you order, so it takes a while. I would say the meat is similar to the chicken, in the sense that it also has a tender bite with a crisp char. Pair it with the green cream sauce/guac/sour cream and you'll be set for a good meal. I believe quesadillas are #11 on the menu (don't quote me). Well worth the visit. Be weary of the area and the line during peak hours. I'll be back to try more menu items! read more

Awful service and I ordered a soup for $10 and asked if I could pay for a small side of broth because I wasn't feeling well. The person that took my order said they couldn't do that. When I got to the window I asked for a manager and she said they would charge me $5.95 for a small side of ONLY broth. I asked her to take some of the vegetables out of the soup to make more room for a little extra broth in the soup I paid for. She said no, she couldn't do it and her system wouldn't allow her too. I responded "You can do it and figure something out like charge me for rice and put broth in there instead." She sad no it would be $5.95. I do understand that there are times when requests are made and you cannot nudge. However, aren't managers supposed to be resourceful? During this time, I would think businesses would appreciate their customers and would want to make every experience a good one. Apparently this location still has a lot to work on. First off, Keren who was working the drive thru was rude. I had to say 3 times that I wanted a #13 and a #15(and that I wanted 3 #15s)and she kept saying a #14. When she asked if I wanted anything else, she didn't even let me say I wanted a drink. I was tempted to just drive away, but my husband was hungry. The reviews on this location should be alarming to the Pollo Regio chain. The new manager on site (Javier) and employees are short of useless and rude. They simply have no idea what customer service really means. Todays visit will be my last. First of all they run out of rice, and when you ask them, they respond to being out like its whatever, like they have no plan or even care to being out. I ordered 2 whole chickens and I asked him to deduct the over all cost for not having rice and he simply said no. He even had the nerve to tell me that if I want a fast food restaurant, that I should go somewhere else. Bad location. I'm going to have to drop a star, because I love the food there, but their service is terrible. Last night, I'd ordered a lunch special, and they'd given me the wrong order, but I didn't notice until I was already back at work. I ate one of the sides, not realizing that it wasn't my food, until I opened up the main box for the entree, in which case I drove all the way back there to ask for MY food, that I'd already paid for, and they said that because I already ate one of the sides (the main entree was still untouched), that I would have to pay for it. Why would I have to pay for THEM messing up my order and me having to drive back there? They should've just given it all to me for free for messing it up and making me drive back. I asked twice if their taco salad came with a tortilla shell and both times I was told I could order the five tacos with corn or flour tordillas. The system went down when it was time to pay and was told I had to pay cash. I got a jarrito and they took five minutes to find a bottle opener. You ask for something and it's handed to you without eye contact or so much as a "here you go" The cabbage salad had a fly in it. Employees were interrupting orders to sign in for their shift. Place is complete chaos. Floors are dirty The man in front of me had been waiting five minutes for tea. I'd give zero stars but that's not an option. So I'll say the one star is for the music. This isn't the most pretentious place, in fact it is very humble. But that being said the food that comes out of here tastes great. The 1/2 chicken with 2 sides, plus a whole cooked onion and a jalapeño and a drink is a steal at under $10.00, I love the juiciness of the chicken with that slight charred flavor. The charro beans are well seasoned and the rice is fluffy with a delicious flavor. We will come to this location even though. The one on Cooper is closer, much easier to get in and out of. I have been working in Arlington for close to ten months now, and have just recently tried this place out. I have consistently passed this place up on my way to and from work, but have never gone in for lunch due to the distance of the location from my office. However, my temptation has recently grown in the past couple of weeks. There is a gas station located across the street that I frequent, and the glorious smell of chicken is powerful enough to overpower the smell of gasoline. Today I could no longer resist and decided to drive all the way over across town to this location to test out the chicken. At first I was a little overwhelmed due to the fact that the lady who came on the drive through speaker greeted and started speaking to me in Spanish!!! EEP. As soon as I said hold on please, she switched over to English which had me relieved. The menu has only about 12-15 options to choose from, all of which are platters. There are very few things you can get a la carte. None of the platters come with a beverage, which I did not realize until after I received my order and was driving away. The options inlcude pastor platters, burrito platters, tacos of all varieties, a half charbroiled chicken etc. This is not a typical fast food Mexican joint...rather its more like a Taqueria with a drive through. I ordered the chicken quesadilla (although now I wish I had ordered the half chicken because it looked soooo delectable) and wondered why it was taking so long to come out. I soon realized that every order is cooked then and there...you don't get something which has been precooked and is roasting under heat lamps. I was unbelievably surprised when I got back to my office by the sheer size of the portions. I spent only $6 and got the most ginormous quesadilla I have ever seen. They definitely did not skimp on the chicken at all. This thing was so fat I had to eat it with a fork and knife because every time I lifted it to my mouth chicken started falling out all over the place. Along with it came a small salad of ice berg lettuce, an ample portion of sour cream, perfect picadillo with fresh jalapenos, what had to have been a half of an avacado or more worth of guacamole, and this amazingly spicy and delicious avacado based salsa. My only complaint s were that the cheese all seemed to be located on the crease of the quesadilla rather than distributed throughout (so some bites were just chicken and tortilla); which resulted in some of the chicken on the opposite end being a little dry. However, with all the fixins added on, it tasted AMAZING. The best part of all...this meal totally filled me up and I still have more than enough to take home and eat for dinner tonight or have a prepared lunch for tomorrow!!!! I will definitely be back to try the charbroiled chicken before I leave Arlington :) read more
