I made the terrible mistake of placing an online order on a Sunday during lunch time. At least, that's what I'm going to say is the reason for my experience. Upon placing my order it said the food will be ready for pickup in 15 minutes. I arrived at the restaurant 15 minutes later and there was a long line to order but I went to the other side where people were picking up their orders as their names were called. After about 5 minutes I went up and asked if my name had already been called, it hadn't. I waited another 15 minutes and everyone in line had their names called and orders given to them. After another 10 minutes I went back up and asked if my order was ready. After going to the back, I was told by the worker that it should be another 5 minutes. After another 15 minutes and there being no line to pick up food I went up again and asked another worker for the status. After 5 more minutes I was finally given my food. At this point I could have just ordered at the restaurant and left 30 minutes prior since I was only getting a chicken sandwich meal for one and multiple families had order 20 piece chicken meals and were long gone. The food itself was ok. The fries remind me of McDonalds fries but with a little less salt and pretty soggy. The box of fries were also barely filled so it wasn't that many in there. The spicy chicken sandwich was ok as well but most of the flavor comes from the spicy sauce on it. Also, I requested lettuce but there wasn't any on there. Maybe I just had a bad first experience. This place is amazing!! It doesn't look like much from the outside honestly, it looked like a random lowkey fast food spot on the east side of Charlotte. However, we had already found this place on yelp and it looked good so we knew we had to try it. To start off, the food is so cheap and affordable. For the amount of the food they give and the quality and taste of it, I think this place deserves to raise its prices. The grilled and fried chicken is sooo juicy and flavorful, and the yuca fries are now my favorite of the ones I've had from other restaurants. My personal favorite side was the corn salad, which was corn, peppers, tomatoes, and feta cheese mixed with a delicious dressing. The rice and plantains were great too. I've heard many good things about this place so I was excited to try it. I had a group of 4 young ladies withe and we were all hungry! We offered 3 orders of the 3-piece empanadas, a 4-peice meal, and sides included salad, fries, rice, plantains, tortillas, rice and beans, and corn salad. The food was absolutely delicious. It was full of flavor very filling, and well priced. My ONLY issue was that it took so long. I thought it was because I was Hungry, but no i looked at my reciept and it took 24 minutes for me to get my food. No Bueno. But the food was good and I would eat there again. I've been meaning to visit a Pollo Campero since they arrived in Charlotte a year or two ago. I hate that I waited so long because they are cranking out some amazing Latin food! On my first visit, we went a little crazy. I had the empanada trio and am still dreaming about those delicious dough pockets of goodness. I got one of each of the chicken fillings offered -- buffalo, verde, and chipotle. They were all amazing but verde was my favorite, hands down. Full of flavor and fresh herbs. Yum!! As if that wasn't enough food, the empanadas come with a side. I went with yucca because, well, I love yucca. Insider tip... skip the red campero sauce it comes with and ask for the green sauce (cilantro lime) instead. Ted ordered the 4-piece chicken meal that came with two sides. We got a mix of fried and citrus grilled chicken. As good as the fried was (and that's what they're known for) I actually liked the grilled better. Ted picked fries and plantains for his sides. The fries weren't anything special. But, I loved, loved, loved the plantains! I ate most of them, truth be told. I still haven't heard back from this location regarding my feedback. This is the second time i place a order and the accuracy of my order was incorrect. My first visit I ordered a family size order and was missing 3 pieces of chicken and I paid extra for all white meat and I did not get that. I did not get my family size sides and when they attempted to correct the order I was still missing 1 piece of meat. On this visit I ordered two, two piece white meat friend and got all dark meat. When i showed the gentleman what I ordered compared to what I got he said i was only missing a wing he would gladly give it to me but i had to remind him it was a thigh and a leg that i received and it was suppose to be a breast and a wing. He brought out the correct pieces but I wasnt the only one with errors in their orders. When I previously visited the general manager offered to give me a family meal complementary for the many inconveniences, but it seems like this is an ongoing issue. The communication to guests about the wait on fresh food was not there. Telling customers this would have been helpful in their case as I watched many other customers express their irritation on how long they had to wait and the employees brushed them off. Communication on them not having items available after placing orders would have nice too. Ambiance was ok; the facility just lacked cleanliness at the time of my visit. I always enjoy my food at Pollo Campero. Great Latin American flavors at a reasonable price. Their grilled (or roasted??) chicken is every bit as good as their fried, maybe a little better. If you dine in the restaurant, after ordering at the register they bring the food out to your table. I've observed that the dining area is always very clean. I haven't ever seen food all over the floor or on the tables like in some restaurants. If you want good Spanish food at a reasonable price you'll enjoy Pollo Campero. read more

My husband ordered a 4 Piece Fried chicken meal and a chicken breast salad from here using their app and when doordash showed up, they just handed us the 4 Piece Fried Meal. The driver said this was all he was given when I asked about it. My husband called the store and they wouldn't refund our money for the salad but instead said we could come down and pick it up. I tried Pollo Campero for the first time today. I never noticed them when I visit Compare across the street, I'm thrilled I found them today. I ordered the 8 piece Camperitos meal with Campero rice and fried yuca. Camperitos are boneless white meat crispy bites, a little larger than nuggets. They weren't dry, which was a concern for me when I ordered them. They were crispy as advertised, but not oily or greasy. The rice was delish, a healthy portion with cilantro, roasted corn and onions. The yuca was perfectly fried, again not greasy. I'm looking forward to returning to try the fried chicken that most people ordered. Totally yummy. I took 1 star of for the condition of the restroom. Totally gross. Considering the constant cleaning of the tables and floor I saw the staff doing, someone should venture into the restrooms once in a while. read more

Wow! I am not sure I can enough good things about this place. A parent from our school treated the employees for Teacher Appreciation Week. It was amazing. My husband and I decided to visit the location. This review is mostly about their empanada's. I ordered two flavors, the buffalo chicken and the verde chicken one. After having tried empanadas for the first time by a caterer who was Dominican, I must have been spoiled because these tasted nothing like the fresh ones I had before. I actually ended up throwing them away because I could not eat them. It may just be my palate, but I did not like the flavor of the ingredients they included and the dipping sauce did not compliment the flavors at all. I did give them two stars, because I got one piece of free fried chicken and that was pretty good. If I came back to this place, it would only be for their chicken. I was overwhelmed with the menu because I simply couldn't try everything. I also ordered one empanada which comes with shredded chicken and your choice of sauce... I picked the Guava BBQ which was delicious.
