First Class Roofing Inc was experience in replacing steep roofs, they were the most reasonably priced and they are a Better Business Bureau A+ accredited business. Their website, www.1stclassroofingincfl.com, contains a lot of information on the company with a blog for different types of roofing inquiries. The project began on the date and time promised The roofing crew was obviously experienced and confident in their skills for dealing with a steep roof. It was done in a systematic and precise manner. At the end of each work day, the crew cleaned the yard of debris and left only the materials needed to work the next day. On the final day, they were meticulous with the final clean up and true to their statement on their website, they left my yard cleaner than it was when they arrived. The Lead Residential Superentendant, Rickey Ellison, kept me informed regarding issues they encountered and the extra cost, if any, to correct the situation. The dark gray shingles on my yellow house look beautiful. It is above and beyond what I expected for a roof replacement. I would like to recognize the following roofing crew for a job well done: Lead Residential Superintendent Rickey Ellison Supervisor Salvador Foreman Daniel Crew members: Maricello Jullio Rola Adair Rosalina

(I was present during phones calls where leadership shopped for the lowest priced labor by the square). Before hiring this company, ask whose crews are actually performing the labor portion of the work. Having one high school buddy as a "project manager" to supervise a Home Depot labor crew doesn't make them "in-house" any more than lending them a "1st Class" t-shirt for the day does. From a sales perspective, I am going on 6 months of delays receiving my agreed-upon 1099 commissions for completed and fully funded projects. It's become a revolving cycle of "next week," "next month," "after Christmas," "after this next commercial check comes in," or "when we get back from traveling out of the country." While leadership still seems to have plenty of time for vacations, sales reps with families are over here chasing money they've already earned. Before accepting a sales position, go over every compensation agreement point by point, and ensure the commission verbiage, formula and payment timelines are all documented clearly in writing. They state not having to payout 1099 commission because I was given a company gas card while using my own vehicle to drive to roof inspections, and that I could have used one of their old iPads as justification for withholding pay). What was presented as a "percentage of GROSS revenue" was later recalculated after labor, overhead, and profit were removed from the numbers -- effectively turning it into a "percentage of NET" rather than "GROSS." Unfortunately, I'm not the only independent/ sub contractor on here with bills and a family who's had to deal with severe delays on pay. Like another contractor wrote, I tried the persistent respectful approach for 6 months hoping this could be resolved, and yet here I am with unanswered calls, texts, and voicemails.

In September of 2020, one of my bedroom windows started leaking brown colored water on the inside from the top. The window had never leaked since the home was built even after going through multiple hurricanes. On three separate occasions from 9/20 to 10/21, I had to contact the owner twice each time it leaked before he would finally send someone out to "reseal" the roof area above window. In November of 2021, I had to once again contact the owner twice and for a fourth separate time at that point, to let him know the leak was still not fixed. His response was they were "out of commission for a few days". I said "ok, but don't forget about me" to which he replied "ok". I never heard back from him. I filed a Better Business Bureau complaint in February of this year due to the non-response and the fact the leak still had not been fixed while it was under the workmanship warranty. The owner's sole response to the complaint was to blame the leak on the window itself, not the roof, knowing that one of his employees, at the owner's direction, had previously ran water directly on all areas of the window for about fifteen minutes and no leak occurred. I recently had an experienced licensed roofer inspect the roof for the leak who found numerous shingles that were not glued down in the "valley" closest to the window. This would allow water to leak in at that point and run down to the window after a prolonged rain. He also found the ends of every one of the trusses located in-between the "valley" and the leaking window has rotted wood due to water damage that must now be repaired. This rotting wood confirmed where the leak is originating from and it is not the window. Also, all the trusses on the other side of the window and valley are fine. Due to the poor workmanship and lack of integrity overall from Gilco roofing, I have a 5 1/2 year old roof that must be repaired at my expense. From my experience with them, if you want a roofing job done right by a company that stands firmly behind their work, communicates effectively, cares about and does the right thing for their customers, Gilco roofing is NOT the company you want to hire.

There was a quick response as to when they can come out and inspect. I had a gut feeling when the female rep over the phone had asked how old my roof was that they were planning on trying to sell me a whole roof repair quote. But I gave them a chance and have them inspect and take a look. 2 men pulled up on the driveway and introduced themselves. I allowed them to go ahead and inspect. The inspection took awhile so I knew then they were inspecting the whole roof and not only the problem area I addressed only. When they were done with the inspection the sales manager I believe gave me a folder pamphlet with papers and quotas of 2 price point. He gave me a FULL ROOF REPAIR quote. And not a SPOT REPAIR that I anticipated. He mentioned having the insurance come up to cover costs and also perhaps deal with legal action if insurance do not want to cover. He then mentioned he knows a "legal" person to contact if I needed it. That part of the volunteered info in my opinion I knew I need to find another company to deal with my issue. When I asked him - If he can just fix the issue I need to have fixed he blew it off and had no answer. I knew then this company only deal and want FULL ROOF REPAIRS from customers if not they feel its a waste of time I guess. He stated to me he will email the pictures they took of my whole roof so I can show the insurance company. I NEVER received those photos up to this day. They probably perhaps do good roof work via reviews on here however I think they only deal with FULL ROOF REPAIRS and not partial or spot repairs. I got my roof repaired elsewhere.
