She went back and got the gel version of the original color I chose and then charged me extra for gel when I never asked for it- I literally grabbed the regular polish of the wall. Went last night around 630p knowing they close in an hour I asked Ana what she had time for just a pedicure or pedi and full set. She said she can do both. I ALWAYS get long sets but I haven't eaten and wasn't sure she would do the long set being it's so late plus I didn't want to pay an arm and a leg for long set so I got them short. She's very heavy on the hands.. my feet where burning from her scrubbing. They use a buffer tool for the dead skin but ask you can see it didn't get everything and she used a pumice stone. She never cut my cuticles on my hands, didn't put primer on my nails I had to remind her she said sorry she's tired..Fast forward to her asking can I pay before she polished..didn't have me wash them btw she tells me $80!!!!! $35 for feet (I got regular top coat no sugar scrub or massage) $45 for these little niblets!!! I said are you serious!? That's why I got them short so I wouldn't pay so much for them and the set is terrible! I didn't even want the polish anymore what was the point! But it was my fault not reading their price list that's on the LOWER left side of the desk and not the wall! Today I decided to treat my boyfriend to his first pedicure. I'm aware that some shops don't offer service for men so I made sure to call before heading over. I asked their hours and prices for both men and women. The woman on the phone informed me the pedicures would be $25/30 and that they would be closing at 7:30. At the time it was around 4pm so we figured this would be the perfect place to go. Eager with excitement we arrived about 20 minutes later only to be turned away! Worker: May I help you ? Me: Yes please, we both would like to get a pedicure Worker: No we cannot do it right now That's it-"no we cannot do it" and then they turned away and continued working. No wait time offered or anything, and this is 3 hours before closing time. With no explanation as to why we could not be serviced, we could only wonder why that information wasn't revealed over the phone. There were 3 people in the pedicure chairs and 2 getting their nails done, no other clients in the waiting chairs, and we would have been happy to wait. What was the reason? Was it our appearance? Was it because they didn't want to work on a man's feet? I don't know and I never will because I definitely won't be returning. read more

Went here for a pedicure and it was horrible... very painful and unlike any pedicure I've had before. The person doing my manicure was digging into my cuticles and poking and prodding at my nail beds like crazy. I told her multiple times that it was painful. I've had pedicures before, and none of them were painful. Shortly thereafter, I developed toenail fungus for the first and only time in my life. I went to the doctor and the first thing he asked is if I had a pedicure recently. He said I likely contracted the fungus from improper sterilization technique. It took me six months and daily doses of medicine (as well as regular liver enzyme checks due to the potential side effects of the medicine) in order to get rid of the fungus. read more

I got gel nail polish i got a mani and a pedi French tips on pedi look good from afar but up close the white tips on a few toes do go all the way to the edge of my nail. The hot towel was a bit to hot and the water temp in foot spa was a bit to hot I got used to it tho. As for my nails he asked how long and what shape i said same length and my natural shape (Charlie the owner did all of my services) he then cut my nails down to about nothing so like a quarter inch now I have nubs and I was getting gel polish with tips and it didn't leave more than a hair line for my tips. And my polish isn't great he did 2 coats but still not fully covered with color he didn't apply it thick enough in spots so it's barely there. And it went from $35 for a mani pedi to $70 for that. Short story: experienced horrible customer service in the favor of the client and my nails looked awful and $68 later for acrylic nails still aren't 100% what I asked for after the redo and ones crooked. I won't be returning. Only reason I gave the 2 stars is because of Christina (she didn't perform my service but was who I talked to when I went in) and during the redo she wasn't aggressive with my nails Long story: I came in on a Tuesday at 11:30 asked if they had an appointment. I was told to come back at 1. I was there at 12:45. I asked for almond shape with a design (which I know drives up cost) I told the technician I wasn't picky with the design I wanted something fun. The technician (who I won't name) told me she has done nails for 18 years so I thought I was in good hands. When I left my nails were very lumpy, crooked, and oval. Not almond. The technician was clearly rushing because there was 3 people who had appointments at 1:15 and I believe they realized they overbooked themselves. Then 3 more people came in 2 with appointments 1 was an add on so a total of 6 people. I reached out to them via Facebook who I believe Christina answers. They agreed that the nails were awful and yes offered to redo them but I was nervous they were going to be aggressive with my nails and asked for a refund. They said they don't give refunds but told me that because I wanted almond and a design and didn't tell them when I made the appointment that I wanted that that causes them to run over. I've never had to tell previous nail technicians I wanted that ahead of time. I told them I'd come in within the hour but couldn't do the redo because I had a friend from out of town here. When I came in the gentleman asked if I had an appointment and when I said no I came to talk about my redo. When I said redo he sat down and flipped open his iPad and proceeded to ignore me. I said I just wanted a refund and want to go somewhere else and could have my nails removed or they could clip them so they don't look good (even though they didn't look good to begin with). Was told again they don't give refunds. I told them I'd hate to leave a bad review. His response: do what you have to do.... that blew my mind. Christina then came up and tried resolving the issue and booked me a redo. Thanks Christina. I came in today for my redo. I was nervous because yeah they could jack up my nails. The technician showed me the shape and I just went with it. Which yes I could have told her it still isn't what I wanted but again I was scared she'd become aggressive. They're better. One is still a little wonky but I'll fix it... overall I wouldn't recommend this place and wasn't gonna leave a review but I felt compelled to because of the horrible experience I had and I still don't technically have what I want. I will say the redo was drama free and I did tip her for fixing her mistake because she took the time out of her day. read more

This business was recommended by a friend who goes all the time. The owner which I believe her name is Anna was the one doing my pedicure. She seem very uninterested when providing her service, she didn't finish filling my nails and when asked she told me "you have very thick skin". A white woman walks in and leaves my station and rushes over to her. She quickly asked me if I liked it and walks away before I could answer. Got manicure and pedicure sets. Super nice people and did an amazing job. Did not rush at all. Really impressed and definitely our new place in Lansing especially for natural nails and cuticle care. Right now there is a COVID-19 fee during this time of $5, FYI. They are doing social distancing by limiting the amount of costumers they take at a time, there are safety shields up for manicures, all staff has masks and gloves on, and customers are frequently given hand sanitizer. We had a horrible experience at Polished. Three of us went and each had a different stylist. Two of us had bleeding cuticles -- and mine did not heal for days and were painful--I feared infection. I really enjoyed the hot stone massage during my pedicure. Best part about it is that the hot stone isn't an extra service you need to ask for...they are part of the basic pedicure package! I wish nail salons in MD would do that because it felt soooo gooood. My nail technician even asked if I wanted something to drink, which is something I've only encountered at hair salons in Korea. She took her time and did a fantastic job. I just wish she added more pressure during the massage, but I guess I could have just asked her instead. This place was recommended to me by a friend. The staff is friendly, asked if I wanted anything to drink. At my first visit, which was a walk-in, I waited under 10min. I was told that 90% of time they work with appointments. So the second time I scheduled one. Probably a mistake because I ended up waiting 45min even though I had an appointment (should have left). The second time I got the gel manicure it started chipping within few days so I went back to have it fixed. They took $5 off the regular price for gel manicures...for fixing what was not done well in the first place. Not cool! I shouldn't have paid anything since it was not my fault. Third visit I got a pedicure. They do a nice job. They give you a foot massage and hot stones are no extra charge. I was waiting for the polish to dry and the lady said I should be ok to put my shoes back on, it will be OK. Well I got home and it was not ok. The polish was ruined. I removed and reapplied it myself at home because I didn't want to take the chance of being charged again for the fix. DO NOT GO HERE! They are extremely unsanitary and use nail brushes as long as possible. I watched someone pick hard chunks of dried acrylic from a brush that was so worn the handle was missing paint. I asked three times for my nails to be evened out and showed the specific nails I was unhappy with. He barely fixed them and just painted them. I asked if he could fix them and he didn't. I asked, who I thought was the manager, if anyone else could fix them and she said I would have to wait an hour and a half. I asked if I could just have a refund and they cut all of my nails as short as possible and gave me my refund. All the while there were three employees arguing amongst themselves. It doesn't smell like a nail salon. I think it throws me off when I go there. It doesn't have that acetone smell. The pedicure are great, very relaxing. They use hot stones while massaging your legs. Also a salt or sugar scrub is used too However I felt like the girl rushed to paint my nails. I had polish all over my fingers. I had to tell her to clean my fingers up. I do really like this place. This salon was recommended to me by a friend & I have not been disappointed! My first experience was because I was getting a mani/pedi for my son's wedding. I have VERY ticklish feet, & was dreading the pedicure, but was willing to do it at the request of my future daughter-in-law. The technician was great! She listened to me, & was very sensitive to what I could tolerate. She helped me match the nail color to my dress. With the pedi, she really took her time, checked with me at every step, & modified the pedi so she didn't tickle my feet. I had a great gel mani/pedi, & my DIL was very happy with the results. Also, I have asthma. I am very sensitive to airborne particles & fragrances. I have had difficulty at all of the other nail salons I have gone to in the past, due to fragrances and odors of the products they use to do nails, resulting in an uncontrollable cough, & sometimes I have had to walk out as soon as I got there. This salon uses fans & venting ducts to keep it well ventilated, & I have never had any breathing issues at all. My first technician has since left this salon, but I have had great service from the other 2 techs I have had since. Appointments are highly recommended. I have been going here regularly for about a year and a half, & I have not had to wait more than 5 minutes for my appointment. They do accept walk ins. While you can try any time, walk-ins are more easily accommodated earlier in the week, (M-W) due to fewer scheduled appointments. read more

Review in one sentence: great family-owned nail salon with student-affordable prices! I love that this place is just around the corner from me, but I love even more than you can get a basic, regular manicure for $12! I usually do my own nails, but every now and then I want to have someone else do them and not be pestered about upgrading to gel nails or something. $25 will get you a full set of basic acrylics, and gel nails start at $30. A manipedi is also $35, and pink-and-white starts at $45. They even have children's rates (for kids under 12), and they offer SNS and gelish nails, too. I usually feel like I'm being pushed to upgrade, but not once did I feel that way by the beauticians at Polished! Tuesdays and Wednesdays are their slowest days, so if you're planning on going Thurs-Saturday, make sure you call ahead to make an appointment. You can even call ahead to see if they're busy and put yourself on their sign-in list. Like I said, I was a walk-in for a basic manicure. I waited maybe 5 minutes, but it's a good thing I came in when I did because there was a rush of clients right after me, all coming in for spa pedicures. As far as equipment goes, they have a really nice collection of OPI and China Glaze colors :) There's 4 spa chairs, complete with a built-in massage device, which you can control. I watched out of the corner of my eye as people got their pedicures done, and each of the pedicurists took their time and didn't rush, even when another client walked in. Instead of rushing, they set up her up in the last open spa chair and turned on the spa water jets so she could wait comfortably. The most interesting thing I saw, probably because I had never encountered it before, was that they had an electric buffing device for callous removal. They still manually removed callouses, though. There's also about 8-10 manicure stations, each one has a built-in fan to speed up the drying process. All equipment came from sealed, sterilized bags, and my manicurist even made sure to swipe my nail bed and cuticles with what seemed like rubbing alcohol to sanitize them before starting to paint my nails I'd also never seen this before, but I thought it was pretty smart, considering if we're concerned the sanitation of the tools, we should be concerned about the sanitation of the polish, too. The whole session took just over half an hour, which is just another indication of the "no rushing" policy they seem to have. I didn't catch any names, unfortunately, but I'll definitely be going back. It didn't seem like anyone beautician was less capable or skilled than any other, so I think it'll take some time before I become someone's "regular." Overall, I really liked my experience, so this has definitely become my "regular" nail salon :) Can't wait to go back when the weather gets warmer and get a manipedi! :) read more

My girlfriend has been coming here for a while now and has been on my case about going with her to get a pedicure. I've never had one before so I wasn't sure what I was getting myself into but I finally gave in and went. It wasn't as girly as I thought it was going to be. Excellent service every time and I never feel judgment for showing up with unkempt winter feet. Everyone who works here is so friendly, and does excellent high- quality work.
