Their hours always make it easy to find something that works. THEY START APPT ON TIME. This is huge for me having had issues with other nail salons. SERVICE They always offer you a bevvy - seltzers, water, etc. Techs are all very friendly and knowledgeable (colors, product/service recs). I have dip done and it lasts 3-4 weeks. I typically see Kia or MaiMai - both are excellent and go above and beyond to make sure I'm happy with my service. LOCATION Centrally located in Midtown near some good shopping options. Like any salon, your results may depend on the tech's expertise and what you request. Polished has a lot of techs with years of experience and varying areas of expertise. I tried out a few different nail techs there before honing in on 1 that is my go-to and 2 who I can count on if my go-to is out. The location is perfectly situated in Midtown. Mary was absolutely fantastic and took such time and care with each step, more than I've had in the past. I've never been a fan of wasting money. With that said, make POSITIVELY SURE you can make your appointment at Polished. I heard nothing but good reviews about their services. Although, they have a deposit policy (20%) down of whatever services you're getting, (at the time your appointment is made) with ABSOLUTELY NO REFUND, NOT even if you sick with food poisoning...like I was. NO MOVING YOUR APPOINTMENT to a different date. It's considered a CANCELLATION, and the 20% must be paid again. With no room for consideration if you are sick, this salon is a no for me. My opinion. But it maybe a yes for you. Poor customer service. No regard for me being sick. The manager apologized and said that is their policy. Do not go here. I went here for a shellac manicure with cat eye polish. All of my nails were my natural long nails I had grown out for a month or so prior to getting done. Not only did my nails consistently all break within a week, they also had filed down my nails way too much. I finally was able to get my nails fixed today and the tech drills off the shellac I had on, and it would not come off. My nails looked disgusting I had gotten brown polish at Polished Lounge and my natural looks looked like they had brown fungus. I have never had fungus in my nails before. Not only did all my nails break and are now short, it was $55 for a shellac mani. Most places are only $45. Save yourself the time and DO NOT GO HERE. read more

I've been coming here regularly and was always treated well -- until recently. My last visit was unprofessional and embarrassing. I was spoken to rudely in front of others for taking a drink that was always offered in the past. Maimai took the drink off the table that she usually offers to open for me and put it back in the fridge. Shouting are those yours you only take one next time. I left feeling disrespected and uncomfortable. I won't be returning. There will be no next time. You lost a loyal customer over a can of LaCroix and your hostile rudeness and giving me a color I did not choose for the second time and I was polite and just went with it to be considerate of your time. However you are not considerate or respectful of my time or business. I hope a can of LaCroix was worth losing business and all the referrals I've given this business. I will be filing a complaint with LARA. Absolutely unacceptable. read more

Polished is a hidden gem in midtown, and by hidden I just mean you need to walk down from the sidewalk into the best nail salon in Detroit! The owner, Ia, is the kindest soul and makes your experience amazing, as you are offered something to drink and a variety of pallets to choose your color from! And if you are looking for another color, just ask because they might have some in the back and really try their best to color match to what you want. But everyone at Polished is super kind and extremely talented. They take great care of my cuticles and if I ever want a design they easily get it done. Walk-in's are welcome, but if you want to guarantee book an appointment online. You will have to make a deposit but that money is deducted from your final cost. They have one girl that does designs. She good , but the products or application is horrible. I have naturally strong nails and I get S&S (dip powder) to maintain the length. After the first visit my nails started breaking after one week which NEVER happens. I went back hoping they would fix it or do better... I now have 6 broken nails and three cracking. This place is fine. And if you adjust your expectations to it being fine. Not amazing, not great, but just fine, you'll walk out pleased. The deluxe pedicure I got was super mid. Didn't use cuticle softener at all. Didn't buff my nails. Didn't clean under nails. Didn't really get the callouses off, skipped scrubbing whole sections of my foot. Barely cut, barely shaped. Just enough that I wouldn't complain because it was a $45 pedicure and not a $70 pedicure- which btw I have had and would happily pay for to make sure I get the service I want. Staff are nice but the quality of the techs are inconsistent. I'll be back at some point because this place is generally easy to book and the options in Detroit are super limited, but I will continue to look for a new nail salon. read more

They do accept walk-ins but I was make an appointment just in case. You can typically find an appointment same-day. Decided today I will not be back. While I love my specific nail tech, the management has no concept of customer service. After two days, my gel was chipped and discolored. I called right when they opened to see if someone could correct the polish job and was told their was nothing they could do. Really? The young lady said the manager would be in touch later in the week. I explained I was going on vacation the next day and really wanted my nails fixed before my vacation. The manager called back at closing to tell me again they were sorry, but they wouldn't be able to see me until later in the week. You couldn't fit in a polish job within 6 hours????? Especially after I've waiting 20+ min after having an appointment. The just lost a repeat customer and unfortunately this isn't the first issue I have with their customer service. Wanted to return to Polished Lounge while in Detroit for work after my first experience last April. This time decided to book online. After several failed attempts, was able to book for September 3rd. When work schedule changed decided to call to see if possible to make an earlier appointment. Person who answered phone was rude, saying I made my appointment wrong and that the way I'd booked it would take too much time (2 hours). Afterwards I explained I needed to book earlier, for the next day (9/1). I was given a new appointment time and was looking forward to returning. An hour later while looking through emails I found a confirmation for the appointment but for 9/4. I couldn't keep that appointment as I am working that day, so called to say there must have been a misunderstanding, that I'd asked for an earlier appointment on 9/1. The woman told me I'd asked for 9/4, and when I said that wasn't possible because I'm working that day she insisted that this was the day I asked for. I finally asked point blank if they had an appointment available for 9/1 AGAIN and she told me no, and that she'd given my original appointment away. She then hung up on me. She was most rude, and lost what could have been a returning customer. So disappointed and so unnecessary. Terrible customer service!! I won't return. read more

I wanted to love this place SO bad but unfortunately a series of less than stellar experiences led me to a 3 star review. The pros of this spot are it's convenience, cleanliness, and decor. However, the services are just "mediocre" and extremely dependent on the tech. I received gel here twice and dip once. The gel/shellac was sub par the first time and AMAZING the second. However, the dip completely came off my nails and caused a series of events I will not disclose. Additionally, I went in on two other occasions for pedicures and out of the 6 times My appointment time was pushed back for 10 + minutes at least three times ... unfortunately, I'm actually writing this from my car as I was told I had a 12:30 appointment but had waited over 25 minutes without being seen! Totally understand we are in tough times and labor shortages but the lack of communication and transparency on wait time was super discouraging. Disappointed I can not recommend any longer - especially as a Detroit resident and worker! read more
