I wanted to donate my hair, so I checked online for salons and called and made a very last minute appointment - same day and only 3 hours after I called. When I walked in and sat down, we discussed what I wanted to do and whether or not it was feasible. It turned out that in order for me to donate we'd almost have to shave the back of my head. Well, I was committed so I said that was OK with me. I pulled up some pictures on Pinterest, and away we went! It was a dry cut at first to get the donation done and get the general shape ready. Then there was the shampoo and the rest of the cut. It was a great experience and I walked out with a very edgy, short bob that suits me to a T. When I went to settle the check, I was amazed to find that because I donated my hair, the cut was free!!! Can't beat that, so I left a tip and went on my way. I couldn't have had a better experience!

I think I found that place and the hair stylist! Looking on the internet, I was interested in finding a hair salon fairly close to my home in West Ashley. It's on Ashley River Rd, a route I drive frequently . So I decided to stop in yesterday, feeling the need for a trim. The shop was quiet and Kristen was able to fit me in right away. I had been reading other reviews of this place and they were all good. Apparently it's been there for awhile and they have a loyal clientele! Kristin was able to assess my hair and gave me a great hair cut that involved much shaping and texturizing. She did a good style for me as well. Today I was able to shampoo and blow dry my hair quickly and maintain a nice shape to my hair! I will definitely be back!

I do not recommend this salon…read more Melissa at CHS was very nice at first. I'm a redhead, and I know it can be complicated. She and the owner took an hour to mix the base color. Red flag. Why is the owner involved? Why is this taking so long? I've never had a colorist take an hour to mix my color. At one point the owner was pointing out different colors and suggested that we go with one color that was fairly dark red. I'm wondering if they need a colorist course. Getting nervous. I pointed to two other colors that were lighter and said I do not like this color and if I leave with my hair this color I'll be very disappointed. Well, two hours later, sure enough the base color was this reddish brown color that I had pointed out that I do not want. I told them, it looks very dark. Then they took pictures of the highlights on top of my head in bright sunlight to show me how light. They only took pics of my highlights. Why are they trying to prove it's ok? I said I'd look in my light at home and call. I called the salon back next day and asked for a redo. They said that they would try to fit me in and give me some copper highlights to pull through so it wouldn't seem so dark. I agreed. Meanwhile though, they can't seem to fit me in. It's been almost 3 weeks since the color problem. I find my hair very unattractive and don't want to wait any longer. At this point I'm upset. I paid $240.00 + tip for the color and a trim, blew my own hair dry and have ugly hair. I just texted. To please refund half - what she quoted for custom color base. 120.00 - and I'll have it fixed elsewhere. No response. I'll update this review if I get a response. I'm hoping to get the credit and move on. I texted the salon owner to call me. No response.

When I called the make the appointment, someone answered quickly, suggested the best time in relation to the start of my event, and even told me the names of the students that would be working with me and gave me the prices. Obviously, the pricing is much better than your traditional services. The students were very nice, talked through everything that you wanted, helped with suggestions, and asked their instructors for additional advice, if needed. I recently called and booked another appointment for another even I have next month and booking process was easy. They didn't tell me who I would be with this time, but I think the students that worked with me last time have both graduated. Hoping my next appointment is as good as the last was. Be prepared for it to take a little while, as they might work through a little slower than you'd expect at a typical salon, but you know they are students - that should be expected. The location is a bit confusing, as it is in Citadel Mall, but not specifics to where in the mall. Just FYI, it's right outside of Belk. I appreciated the chill environment without extra pressure, and of course, saving some money in the process.
