Surprised there's only one review so far. This is on a busy corner, and should be getting a fair amount of business. I've been to other locations and liked them, and today wanted something cool and light, and this fit. Not busy at just after 11am, opening time. They were still setting up. Super friendly staff, two Japanese ladies who barely spoke English, and who made the experience even better. Super sweet and helpful. I got the Da Kine bowl, tuna with veggies etc. So fresh, so good. So flavorful. Generous portions, good balance, cool and refreshing. I also tried their free miso. Good, super hot, not quite the thing for a hot day, but would be nice when it gets cooler. And I got the kani (crab) salad. It was almost as big as my entree, and I only took a few bites before taking the rest home. Just as tasty and fresh as the other bowl. Half the price, so I assumed it would be small. And there was less stuff, sure, but plenty for a light lunch on its own. That plus some soup, and a drink, and you're out of there for less than $10. Just a really pleasant experience all around, and great food. Easy access and parking. Decent prices for what you get. I came hungry and left stuffed and with leftovers. Wish I'd come sooner.

4. The Duke Poke Bowl but with no gochujang sauce, subbed the wasabi sauce on side. Still had the other two sauces on the bowl.

Come here all the time! It's really good, portions are pretty big and I love the gluten free sauce options.

Delicious, fresh, Hawaiian poke. Super friendly service. Miso soup included, and they have mochi ice cream dessert. Such a great find!

We also had a couple bottles of wine at the table, which were good as well. For appetizers, we shared oysters, meatballs, and shrimp cocktail. All of them were good, but the meatballs were my favorite. For my entrée, I ordered the prime rib. It was a bit saltier than I would have liked, but the sides helped balance it out. I really enjoyed the corn and mashed potatoes, and I also added mushrooms and onions, which helped offset the saltiness. In hindsight, I kind of wish I had ordered the filet mignon, as I suspect it wouldn't have been as salty. The bread at the beginning of the meal was also really good. Dessert was a standout--I got the turtle cake, and it was huge. It's definitely the best value on the menu. Three of us shared it and still couldn't finish it, though that may have also been due to the amount of food and drinks we had throughout the night. The food did take a while to come out, but the service remained good the entire time. We expected dinner to wrap up around 7:00, but we started at 5:30 and didn't finish until about 8:30--there were 16 of us, so it was understandable. Overall, a solid experience, especially for a group event.

I make my apologies when I say the hype is not worth the visit…read more There is usually a correlation between the price, service and the food. Unfortunately, on my visit, there was absolutely no relation between these three things. Premium price, for OK service and OK Food I'll save myself the disappointment going forward!

Although plenty of beef, it was definitely chewy. Not very enjoyable. The strip steak was fine. Not the best, but far from the worst. A choice of sides came with it. The bread served was interesting. It was flat cornbread looking. Really good. We were very happy with our drinks. When we walked in the hostess told us, it would be a two hour wait. Yes I expect delays on a Saturday evening, but when I asked if the bar was open seating, she told me yes. I walked around the bar and noticed that the bar was full, but there were the small tables around the bar. I asked the hostess are those tables part of the open bar seating and she said yes. There were a couple available and of course we sat down, but my wife and I were both surprised that the hostess would not have encouraged us and informed us right upfront that those tables were available rather than running the risk that we would leave due to a two hour wait. We then ordered a drink before dinner and I asked for a Corona. The waiter said we're out of corona and I said that is too bad on a Saturday evening at 6:30 PM -- how is an upscale restaurant out of one of the few bottled beers that they offer? We noticed also on the drinks menu that wine is served and poured at 5 and 8 ounces, but it is priced rather high and certainly as high as a 6 and 9 ounce pours, which is more customary at those price points The meal was ok, but the chicken breast was a little bit overcooked and the seasoned sauce was stronger than our pallets can handle. We also ordered dessert and decided to have coffee. My wife asked for a decaffeinated coffee. The waiter said to us "we don't carry decaf coffee only regular." I said you've got to be kidding, really? He said yes. I said well it's not your fault at all. You are just doing your job, but please have your manager come over, so I can speak with him. He never came by, so I asked another waitress walking by to have the manager come by. He finally came to our table and he opens by saying "It's a busy night." Clearly conveying that he was annoyed that he was called to our table. I explained to him that a restaurant like Firebirds that's on the higher end of the price scale in the area should definitely have Corona beer in stock and certainly decaffeinated coffee should be on the menu on a Saturday night, in frankly every night of the week. And all he could say to me is.. " I'm sorry we'll work on that." and then he walked away. Bottom line, Fire Bird's, you lost a good customer in us. Somebody needs to council the manager on how to communicate with customers and to express genuine concern for their interest, wishes, and any inconvenience that they might encounter. For this reason, two stars is probably a generous rating, and I will give credit to our waiter who did his best and behaved far more professionally than his manager.

My husband got the Korean BBQ Scotch Egg (so different but very tasty), BBQ glazed meatloaf with garlic mashed potatoes, lemon chilli green beans (he normally doesn't like his vegetables, but he said these were so fresh and tasty), and Espresso Martini Pot De Crème. I had the Italian Wedding Soup (very good but did not have the meatballs), Pasta Bolognese (pasta was cooked perfectly and drained properly, so it did not water down the sauce!), and Apple Pie Mousse. I also got one of their mocktails called Brambleberry Tea. I could have easily drunk a couple of those! I forgot mention that they pour some nicely chilled water from a bottle that they leave on the table when you sit down. That is a nice touch for us since that is our choice of beverage when we eat. We were treated so warmly by everyone from the time we walked in until we left. Our server, Tyler, asked if we had been before (and this was our first time), so he welcomed us and asked if we had any questions. He was attentive during our time and even asked my husband if he needed any more sauce for his meatloaf. Marvin, the manager, stopped by to see how our first experience went and wanted to invite us back by gifting us coupons for an appetizer on our next visit. Thank you! The atmosphere was rustic and casual. I loved the picture frames hanging (used like walls) and lots of exposed bricks. The bathrooms were clean, well-stocked, and warm. We are looking forward to coming back to try the regular menu!

Started with the tots, which were really good, but they weren't loaded, just cheesy and a little sauce on time. We asked for the pork on the side and didn't get it at all. My dad and I ordered brunch- avocado toast for me and the skillet pancake for my dad- and they were both cold. Not warm, mine didn't have any warmth at all. My mom's mac and cheese looked awesome, very warm, and her grilled cheese dip plate was too, and she loved them. I knew I didn't want to eat my meal as-is, and was going to ask them to at least warm it up, but my waitress never came back to check on us for so long that my parents were almost done eating (my dad ate his cold, but ice cold egg was a no-go for me). He had to wave her down to come back to us, and I just decided to not bother and they took it off the bill. She also forgot to refill my coffee, but the manager came over I asked for it from him. He explained that the toppings on the avocado toast make it cold, so I guess be warned. Disappointing visit for sure.

There were a lot of bodies waiting in the small area near the host desk and it was a little chaotic. Our server kept trying to bring us the wrong bottle of wine (we ordered a bottle of French bubbly and she kept coming back with a Riesling) so I am not sure if it was a disconnect or what. Eventually we received the correct bottle after taking the toast tab and pointing to the appropriate one on the POS. Our group enjoyed some small plates; the ceviche and the beet salad and hummus were all lovely. However, I ordered the kind of already overpriced lobster scramble. The portion was CRAZY. What I received was a 1.5" piece of lobster meat on top of what seemed to be less than one eggs' worth of pre blended egg. There was still liquid egg that hadn't been cooked in the pan and it was accompanied by three wedges of a Roma tomato with a handful of dressed arugula. For $29. I would hope at that price point, I would at least get 2 eggs worth. WILD. All in all, enjoyable experience but Cameron Mitchell should probably revise some of the portion sizes/menu items. And please, please, nobody order the lobster scramble and experience the same fate that I did.
