Also, the carrots were dry and the avocado was old. i usually eat the whole bowl, but it wasn't pleasant this time. Nothing on the bar looked fresh. My wife and I stopped by to try this out the other day as we went through Lexington. I have been reading the reviews on here so my expectations were kind of high. When I ordered I just ordered the Duke because the menu is sort of overwhelming, my wife went out on a limb and tried her own with spicy salmon and some other stuff. I found my bowl to be pretty darn good and my wife's was marginal but that might have been her fault because she chose the ingredients. I can't even begin to describe my excitement, when I found out we were getting a poke bowl place in Lexington. I had to wait a few months to try it out because I was on a strict diet with my pregnancy. So, by the time I was able to go, I had high expectations because I had heard so many good reviews. Unfortunately, my first impression of this place wasn't a good one because when I walked in, I waited a long time before anyone even noticed I was there to order my food. Now, granted I walked in after the lunch rush hour around 2:00pm and I was the only person in line, but still... Someone should always be around the ordering counter or keep an eye on it at all times. All of the employees were in the back room and there wasn't anything I could do to get their attention... Not even a bell I could ring. Finally, I was able to order and ended up getting the spicy tuna over white rice, with avocado, nori (seaweed), masago, green onions and edamame, topped with tempura flakes, ponzu and og sauces. It came out to $14.00 and I was kind of surprised because I didn't expect the price to be so high. I didn't see the prices on the big menu board, so I just assumed it would be around $8.00- $10.00. When I looked at how much they upcharge for many of their ingredient items on their to-go menu, it all made sense. The food itself was very fresh and delicious and the lady who helped me was friendly, quick and precise with my order as I told her what I wanted in my poke bowl. So, really the only thing that is keeping me from coming back to this place often is the pricing of their menu. They have good food and you get what you pay for because of it's freshness, but I think that their corporate office should find a way to work with those prices, if they want to stay in business. read more

My sister in law is from Japan & talks about fresh pokè all the time. I built my own bowl with the help of one of the workers/artists & dove right in. I must say, I'm a huge fan of fresh sushi, a huge fan of uncommon presentations, & a huge fan of beautiful presentations. I got all 3 qualities in a friggin bowl! Hallelujah! This place finally rescues the restaurant scene in Lexington. Hawaiian poké is a healthier alternative to this landscape of chicken fingers, burgers, wings and hot dogs. The set up is similar to Chipotle and Subway. You get in line and start off with white or brown rice, salad or chips and add exotic and fun toppings like edamame, avocado, seaweed, masago and ginger. Next you can add protein like salmon, shrimp, tuna, chicken, octopus, and dress it all up with flavorful sauces such as sweet soy, coconut ginger, ponzu, and their OG sauce. Sprinkle some extra magic with sesame seeds, tempura flakes or crunchy onions and you just made Heaven in a bowl. Say "Whale Oil Beef Hooked" out loud and you'll sound like an Irishman who just discovered a better way to eat in Lexington this whole friggin' time. When I walked in both employees were masked and they had plexiglass from the counter all of the way up to the ceiling w/ an intercom system to communicate thru. I am driving through and wanted something good and healthy. Found this place right off the main road. There is a parking lot. I walked in and there was a long line. The person making the food was lightning fast and got through a huge line in no time to while being super polite and friendly. Food is perfect. Fresh and tasty. I want to give this place a good review but I can't. Overall the quality of the foods is decent. However the main issue is that they over sauce consistently. No matter what you order the will drench it in sauce. I've ordered 5 times from here. 3 were delivery and twice was in person. The 3 times we had delivery the bowls were filled to the top in sauce. The first time I ordered in person I specifically stated light sauce and not too much. She drowned it. The 2nd time I went I was hoping it wasn't the same lady but it was. This time however I had to stop her completely and basically yell only 2 lines on top of sauce to have her her it right. The subway-esque line of better food with a hipster modern feel to the place. At least for me. First timers and picky eaters, for your first visit DO NOT try to create your own. I've seen my kid do this every time we've been so far, because of being so picky and I love mine and hate theirs when I try it. They hate it too and now they don't want to go back. Pick the closest thing on the pre-made selections that you can find that sound good to you and have them remove anything you find offensive. We took a huge fish hater and they had a Hawaiian bbq option (or something like it) that made them a huge fan in spite of the fact its mostly seafood. For sashimi fans, there is a lot to love, the flavors are harmony, the price is good, and portions are great and it makes for a great quick lunch during work hours. read more

I eat at this location and the five points location way more than my budget actually suggests, and I love it so much. Every bowl there is great, and I especially love customizing my own, and adding extra proteins. Everything is light, delicious, yet somehow incredibly flavorful and filling. I think I might need to go for dinner tonight.... Anyhow, I prefer this Lexington location as parking is a snap, and the decor and lighting are fabulous, everything is fast and clean and I can sit right there and eat, instead of only getting it to go. Poke Bros is awesome! I am fortunate enough to work by this location and live by the Columbia location. Double win! I think that the Columbia location is more generous with the toppings though. My rice to toppings/protein ratio was a little off but it was still super tasty and fresh. This location is much larger and actually has tables, so it's not strictly a take-away place like the Columbia location. The service was good, friendly and quick! I still think the value of this place is great. Some have mentioned its too pricey but I disagree. The bowls are large and last me two meals. It depends what all you get in your bowl of course but mine usually comes to around $12. That's $6 a meal for me, which is a good deal! I will continue to visit this location and the Columbia location on a regular basis! I am so happy they opened this new location right near my work place! read more

You start with a rice base (brown for me) and pile on top of it the freshest ingredients such as edamame, masago, seaweed salad, ginger, salmon, marinated tuna, tempura flakes, sesame, etc....plus there's an assortment of awesome sauces to choose from. This is 1 of 2 locations in the Columbia area that I tried out with a few friends. It is similar to all the other poke spots as you can either build your own bowl or select a pre-existing combination. For Poke Bros, you can select sushi rice as your base along with the usual white rice, brown rice, or salad. They only have one size as opposed to the other spots that have various sizes which allow more or less protein. As you get to the protein part of the process, each protein actually has a different price and you have to pay $3 extra for any extra protein. They also have some of the usual sauces but not as wide of a selection, same with the toppings. Seaweed salad/crab both are $1 additional each as well so my usual bowl that I get at other spots ended up being almost $15 which is about $5 more than I usually pay. The portion sizes here were fair and taste was great but not worth the higher price. Solid spot if you really want your poke fix in the area as there really aren't any other decent options but prepare to pay more than usual if you are from out of town! read more

Great addition to the Lexington restaurant scene. It seems to be a chain, but unique to this area. Located in the old bruegger bagels, this place has limited seating. The food is fresh and crisp tasting. Perfect for hot day meals. It can get pricey with add ons. Wish the bowls came in small and large because I would get a large every time!
