The tonkatsu ramen was okay; it was a tad salty, and the meat slice was primarily full of fat. There should have been better balance. The extra corn was of low quantity; the bamboo was nice, and the flavoring on the broth was decent. The gyoza were deep-fried, and had a decent texture on the outside. I've been to Poke Station near Northeastern a few times, but today really upset me. I picked mango, kimchi, and wonton chips--and they gave me literally one piece of each. I went back just hoping for a quick apology and the right amount of food. But the young woman with long hair who added my toppings just stared at me and said, "So do you want more?" No apology at all. Then an older lady nearby said I was making a big deal out of nothing, and a man even told me to just get a refund. I have been coming to this place for 3 years. I used to go more often but I still visit if I am in the area. The portion sizes are fair and for the most part are consistent unless you go at night around closing. They have ran out of sushi rice before. The workers are quick and efficient. What's odd is that the fish portion is above average, and yet somehow it is still ends up being deeply unsatisfying and borderline disgusting. The recipes are truly atrocious, like someone who doesn't understand sushi, nor Japanese food in general threw some random vaguely Asian ingredients into a seeweed wrap. Firstly I ordered the symphony sushi burrito and the flavors were all over the place with only one prevailing through them all - onion. Yes, there were so many onions in my 'sushi burrito' that I literally couldn't taste anything else. Ok second thought, there was this licorice - star Anise after taste which took me completely by surprise and was just bizarre. There also was no salting agent - no soy sauce - so the fish taste was completely lost, even after picking out all the onions. And worst of all they heat your burrito for you. Yes, they slap your SUSHI into the microwave. Why? I wish I could tell you but I can't because unlike the recipe developers at this place, I actually understand food. Felt like I got ripped off. Tried the poke and taiwanese pork over rice. The poke was just decent but felt really mushy and not as fresh. The raw fish just didnt shine (before it got sauced up) and I felt it was too late to decline that order. Didnt want to be a scum bag. The taste didnt feel right but luckily I didnt get sick. Taiwanese pork was however a huge let down. I missed visiting Taiwan and was surprised to see this dish here in Boston. Opening the box, I was surprised to see tofu. It's not typically in the dish. For sure they added that as a filler and the pork was pretty lean and chewy when it should be fatty and tender. Not only that, the sauce was so bland. Huge no for me. The best deal for poke in the area. They give heaping portions of rice and large scoops of fish. Currently a poke bowl with 2 scoops of fish is $11 and 3 scoops of fish is $14. You can get plain white rice or sushi rice as a base. They also have brown rice and a spring mix. When I asked for half-half on rice and salad I think they gave me the regular serving for rice anyway with added salad on top. They offer both spicy salmon and spicy tuna as protein options. Unlike other places where the spicy tuna is practically ground into a paste, this place tosses their cut fish in spicy mayo. Like most other poke places, they have a wide variety of toppings and sauces to choose from. I like that this place has napa cabbage kimchi and cucumber kimchi in addition to standard toppings like edamame, masago, seaweed salad, etc. Despite the large portions, I can see why the prices are cheaper. The fish here isn't as fresh as other places in the area like Love Art Sushi or Pokeworks. Even their toppings could be in better shape-- the edamame wasn't as vividly green and crunchy as at other places. However, if you're craving poke, want to save some money, and are willing to take the risk on your stomach, then this is the place to go! read more

I've been trying a bunch of poke places through Uber eats lately and this place was pretty good. Definitely will hit the spot and fill you up if you love poke. The tuna tasted very fresh and I really liked the citrus yuzu dressing. Overall this is a solid poke place if you've got a craving for it but I will admit I've had better from local places in Boston. I've been here for couple times, and I think it is a nice addition to NEU area which lacks the East Asian cuisines. I tried their Korean chicken wings, Japanese curry rice, and pokes. Chicken wings tasted good but there weren't much meat to eat, their wings seem pretty small compared to the wings from other restaurants. Curry was alright, on the blend side. Their pokes are not as good as Pokeworks but I think it has pretty good taste. The unique thing about toppings for this restaurant is that they have kimchi(although they spelled it wrong in menu??) and kimchi pickles, which usual poke places don't have. I like they have more options like that, tho. I would recommend getting medium(two proteins) instead of large(three proteins) as the amount of protein you get is not that different and medium portion is still sufficient to get full. read more

If you like poke and being a little adventurous with your meals, this is a good place to go. I tried the sushiritto which was a fun dish. I always love the option of trying new trendy dishes. It was good but I probably wouldn't order it again. I got the fisherman's bowl and chose salmon and tuna for my fish. Poke bowl was definitely the star here. This is a decent Poke Bowl place, and for its location, it definitely is a better option than the sushi place around the corner. $12-15 for a poke bowl is standard, not cheap, but definitely cheaper than a few sushi rolls (with much more quantity and toppings than said rolls). unlimited toppings (but it comes with the caveat of it really being a limited amount of each available topping) for no additional charge. Fish quality can be suspect at times, but make sure you look and ask before ordering. You get what you pay for here. It's better than expected and worth a shot if you are in the area and craving some raw fish. read more

If you've ever read any of my other reviews for Poke places in the Boston / Greater Boston Area, you'll know I've been making my way to every single Poke Place in the area. I found out this place opened up and just had to try it! The place is on the smaller side with some seating. The menu is written on chalk and not the most organized so it was a bit hard to read / understand if you'd never ordered a Poke Bowl before. I will agree with other reviews in saying the ordering is a bit confusing and the people who work there weren't the friendliest / most helpful. The listed items on the menu also differed then what the actual protein and topping were. It was a bit disappointing that Crab Salad was considered a Protein here since pretty much every other Poke Place is considered a topping that is part of the price or maybe a $1 more. They do however have a few more options that typical Poke Places as far as Protein and Toppings and Sauces. I got the Tuna tossed in Poke Sauce (which he didn't actually ask me but just did it on his own, which is fine, but probably should have asked), and drizzled with Sriracha Mayo, then topped with Seaweed Salad, Sweet Onion, Tamago, Jalapeno and more. They don't give you a lot (tiny clamp worth) of toppings, but a decent scoop amount of Protein. Eating it was still delicious though and filling. This place is on the lower end of the spectrum of pricing of a Poke Bowl compared to others. It's a bit far from my office, but if I was in the area, I'd still come here. read more

TL;DR: Definitely would not recommend to a friend. Quality: The quality off the fish was dismal... everything tasted old... With fresh(er) fish, I'd expect the meat to be somewhat "springy" and firm. The fish I was served was the seafood equivalent of a wilted vegetable in your fridge that you probably should've eaten last week. Quantity: Sometimes you can overlook lower quality for larger quantity to justify your price point. Unfortunately this was not the case. My two "scoops" of protein put together was probably 3/4 of a full scoop. Toppings: The one redeeming factor about this place is they had a wider range of toppings than I'm used to seeing at a poke place, especially when it came to the tobiko/crunch options. Still the toppings were given out very sparingly... Conclusion: Listen... I get that the main market here is a bunch of college undergrads but unless you're catering to the 2am drunk crowd, the quality level needs to be raised if they're planning on sticking around. As I sat down to eat, I realized the chopsticks that I had grabbed from the utensil area was from Ichiban Yakitori Sushi House down the street... Didn't go back to check if the rest of them were also taken from Ichiban... but seriously? Overall the small bowl cost around $11-12. At that price point, do yourself a favor and get a pulled pork sandwich from Tattes down the road or a burrito bowl from Amelias next store. read more

Positives: -Location: close to Northeastern University, The Green Line, & The Orange Line -Convenience: Very fast, never a long line like Tatte down the street or Amelia's next door Negatives: -Poor Food Quality: Fish I got was old and grayish, the tuna was the color of old red meat that has been sitting in the fridge for weeks and portion sizes were extremely small. -High Base Price: The base price for a poke bowl was $12-13 including tax and you only get 1 protein option which they barely give you any. -Portion Sizes: More than half my bowl was filled with rice to make it look like more, which was disappointing since the add-ons are included -Poor Service: As someone who has working in the food industry and customer service, I always try to give folks the benefit of the doubt but the servers were generally unhelpful and confused as to why I was asking so many questions. When I told them it was my first time, they didn't even explain the ordering system or seem to care. Probably underpaid college students just trying to get by. -Confusing Menu: The posted menu in the location was very confusing and didn't explain how one should order or what was included. The folks working there didn't do a good job of explaining either. I was generally confused through the ordering process and had to continually ask questions about what was included or not. Opinion: In my opinion, this place has such fast service because most folks are waiting in line to eat at more popular restaurants on the street like Amelias & Tatte. However, as the only sushi/poke place in the NEU area I expected this place to be an instant hit like their Love, Art & Sushi counterpart about 15 minutes walk down Mass Ave. near Berklee School of Music. But the lack of service, food quality, and shit portions sizes wont bring me back. The fact that at Poke Station I paid $13 to get 3x as much rice and 3x less toppings than I could have gotten at the poke restaurant down the street was extremely disappointing. For the future, Love, Art, & Sushi is only a 15 minute walk away and has better prices, better food quality, more toppings/options, and better service. So if you are in the area and craving some sushi or a poke bowl you are better off taking a walk down the street to Berklee or getting a qdoba bowl. read more

I was not impressed with this poke place at all. I recognize that they just opened but since poke places have been around for quite some time I would have expected that they would have known how to do it. I ordered a make your own poke bowl and got the large, which means I got to choose 3 "meats". The regular size is one meat only, and is 10.95. I got 3 TINY scoops of fish on top of a huge bed of rice. All of the toppings I added were also dollop sized or smaller and I had to ask for more of everything. Being stingy about sesame seeds is beyond me. I got the classic sesame sauce but overall the whole bowl was rather tasteless and I ended up putting on several packets of soy sauce to give it some flavor. One of my favorite restaurants! I love the fisherman poké bowl (I recommend ordering it wish sushi rice!), and the tempura sushirrito. :) They're very prompt with their orders, the ingredients are always fresh and delicious- their portions in the poké bowls are also very generous, so you really get what you pay for in terms of portions! This is a new poke spot right next to northeastern university. The ordering can be a little confusing at first, but the staff was helpful in clearing up any confusion I had. The price was cheaper relative to other poke locations in Boston. You are allowed as many toppings (minus the premium ones such as avocado) as you'd like which is cool.
