Once they arrived, however, I was quoted a price that was roughly twice what I expected. The technician referenced a price/specification list, which makes me question why they couldn't have provided at least a general estimate over the phone, with the usual disclaimer that the final price could vary depending on the actual situation. I take responsibility for agreeing to the work instead of declining and getting another quote, but I was uncomfortable with the way the pricing was handled. It left me feeling that I wasn't given enough information to make an informed decision before the technician arrived. The actual job took less than two hours, and I felt the final price was extremely high for the work performed. I would not use Prodigy again for two reasons: Lack of pricing transparency and what I consider a poor business practice. He and his team did a full main line replacement that could not be replaced by traditional digging due to hard to cut pine roots. They instead did a trenchless replacement of the main. All of the team was very professional and worked as fast as possible to have it all done in just a few days. They did not have to break any concrete and there was zero damage to any landscaping etc. Brian and his team truly value clients as they've done several trips at no costs or obligation at a different home of of mine. He spent an hour talking about how great their new systems are, but after he left, I realized the water fill line for the salt tank wasn't even attached, which might explain why the unit isn't working properly. I would expect a water filtration technician performing a maintenance check to notice that a critical water line was disconnected, but everyone makes mistakes. So I called them back and scheduled a 2-4 PM window for someone to come out and hopefully fix the issue. I even received a call at 8:00 AM confirming the appointment. Then, at 3:00 PM--an hour into the arrival window--the owner of the company called me, confused about the issue, and said they don't fix units like mine. He told me I need a new unit because of an error code, and that NO ONE was actually scheduled to come out. The only reason they came out for an estaminet was to convince me to buy a new unit classic bate and switch BS. They had no intent to help me fix my unit at all. I planned my whole day around this appointment. The owner seemed confused why I did not just want to buy a new unit. Call me crazy, but I don't want to spend thousands of dollars if all I have to do is replace a 3-dollar plastic water line. It is like getting a flat tire, and the mechanic is trying to sell you a new car. just slimie as all hell.
