AHA Violations? The website lists only a one-hour Zoom lecture for ACLS with no date, time, or schedule for hands-on training or testing. As a medical student, I try to research and understand, and the AHA site required a mandatory hands-on skills test. I texted and asked about enrolling. I explained that I was confused by what the website showed and asked, "May I call?" Instead of answering my question about the schedule for the remaining hours and hands-on portion of the ACLS course, I was redirected back to the same booking link I had questioned. I followed up with a screenshot showing the one-hour Zoom and asked if that was really all there was. The reply: "Yes, correct." I was deferred to the FAQ page this time. I already said I was very confused, and the FAQs didn't answer my questions. I asked WHEN the hands-on skills test was scheduled, since this is required for ACLS. Again, instead of answering, she continued to deflect and defer. If there is something that can be explained to help me understand new rules, etc., then please do, right? The rep then said the course was "just conveniently via Zoom for lecture". I asked, "So, the course is not AHA approved?" Response: The site "says AHA all over the place." None of this addressed the actual requirement for a skills test or further instruction to meet AHA. I inquired further, pointing out that ACLS cannot be done in one hour or without skills testing. "Our ACLS classes are accredited through the AHA and meet all AHA guidelines. Many students appreciate our efficient format, but if you prefer taking it with another training site, you're welcome to book with another provider -- and this is Ella." At that moment, I was stunned. Up until then, her communication was so evasive and dismissive that I truly believed I was texting an answering service. That made it even worse. This wasn't an assistant having a bad day; it was the face of the company refusing to answer a simple yet critical question about scheduling and compliance. I had a group of study partners ready to enroll, and I was just trying to confirm the schedule so I could make it work. Instead of providing critical information and professionalism, I was met with attitude and a brick wall. Ella ended the conversation with: "Sounds good -- best of luck to you!" This is not good business practice - especially when talking about a certification that literally impacts patient survival. Bottom line: This business lost six students that day because Ella was rude, dismissive, and completely unable (or unwilling) to answer the most basic question about her own course. ACLS cannot be condensed into a one-hour Zoom lecture. If a provider tells you otherwise, they are either misrepresenting themselves or running a dangerous shortcut operation. I will be filing a formal complaint with the American Heart Association and providing them with screenshots of this exchange. ACLS certification is a life-and-death credential -- not a money grab for someone offering "efficient formats" that violate AHA standards. If you care about your career, your license, or your patients, avoid this company at all costs. read more
