Best EMT school in socal. The teachers are funny and have a unique teaching style that works. Highly recommend this course for anyone who wants to become an emt.

11/10 would recommend this school for anyone I know taking EMT classes (accelerated or evening class), POST (Peace Officer Safety Training) or CPR/AED Training. Taking an EMT class is different than any other schooling you will go through, right now I am a college student taking 15 units at Cal State Fullerton. I decided to take the M/W class 6pm-10pm. I didn't know if it was possible for me to do both schools, but I realized you just have to put in the work. Teachers: Brad who was my main teacher gives you the tools and knowledge to pass the class and pass the NREMT if you buy in and have a good attitude about it. You also have a couple of different teachers so they can teach you their viewpoint so you can hear different stories and different techniques for the class or the real world. The teachers will also allow you to stay late ask questions on things you are confused about or even help you map out a future plan to succeed in this career. Pro-Techs main goal: Pro-Tech cares about you passing the NREMT like every school, but they are one of the only schools who care about you being the best EMT you can be. They teach you to not be a wallflower (someone standing around while other people do the work), but they teach you to take initiative and to feel comfortable taking initiative. How to pass the class: I do recommend you putting in a good 3-4 hrs outside of the class studying every week if you take the evening class that I took. I put about 4 hrs every Monday into studying and I average about a 90-95% on every quiz. Pro-Tech vs other companies: Other schools care about their pass rate but they don't state their class retention rate if they fail you before the final of the class. They want you to just brag about how they have a high passing rate while from what I heard the students from other schools go into places like CARE not knowing basic skills. Opportunities to get jobs: Due to Pro-Techs close relation with CARE you have great networking opportunities with CARE ambulance company, and they put investment into making you the best EMT possible. All these other schools care about their pass rate but they don't care about giving you the knowledge and skills to be a successful EMT. What my friends have said at other companies: I have friends who have taken classes from West Coast EMT and they are jealous of what I am learning, how I am learning, and how the teachers care about you. They are also jealous of the overall pricing of the class. Pricing: Pro-tech has no hidden costs, everything you pay for upfront covers everything throughout the class, for example, the book and your uniform. The book also gives you study tools that you can use to study online instead of just reading. Things they can improve: At some points, the class did get a little unorganized and confusing, but they got it right back on track. Sometimes you would have a substitute teacher and you would have to tell them what you were learning but other than that it was an amazing class. Just a heads up: I did show up to the school before my class started, and it is taught at a church, so they are not always there. I just gave Brad a call and he was so nice and helpful, I realized that I picked the right school right then after having bad experiences communicating with other schools in the area.

Best way to learn is to hands on training.

If I could give 10 stars I totally would! Jerry and Raj were my instructor and I absolutely loved taking this course with them as my instructors. They were the absolute best and very good at teaching. I could not recommend Pro-Tect EMT enough. They want to see you success as an EMT, and willing to do anything in their power to guide you to the right direction. I passed my National Registry the 1st attempt because of them and their teaching style. Pro-tect also partnering with Care Ambulance and their FTO will give you the best training experience ever. I'm sad that the course ended but I am MORE than happy to recommend it to anyone who is interested!

The team at Pro-Tech is incredible. I come from a background with no medical or STEM experience, and I took the accelerated course over the summer. The instructors (Brad, Daniel, and Dawn) each brought unique skills and experiences to the course, and they never thought there was a dumb question. At times there seemed to be a slight disconnect between instructors, but together they more than prepared me for the national registry and for the job. Everyday I was excited to go to class. They have several hands-on activities from day to day that will keep you engaged and learning. They also give you several cheat sheets and helpful handouts (in addition to the textbook and regular worksheets) to fully grasp the concept. Even slower powerpoint lessons were brought alive with their stories and colorful illustration. Moreover, their partnership with Care Ambulance Service is invaluable for your skills training and exposure to the industry. Perhaps it was unique to my specific class, but I got the opportunity to meet and work alongside equally dedicated peers. Everyone in the class knew why they were there and possessed great initiative, pushing me to do my best. Overall, it was an amazing experience for a price no one can beat. The combination of a welcoming but driven atmosphere, fantastic instructors, and structured curriculum was something I'd recommend to anyone.

Last day of class. Miss them!

I completed CPR training in February 2026 in Colorado and initially, the process itself was smooth…read more I can certainly acknowledge that. However, there were significant issues with the training setup that ultimately led to an injury. Due to the room configuration, I was unable to properly reach the mannequins and had to perform CPR on my tiptoes. The table was not adjustable, and no stool or accommodation was available. As a result of these poor ergonomics and lack of proper setup, I sustained a neck and trapezius injury mid-cycle. Ended up having to literally crawl on to the table . At the time, I reached out simply to provide feedback in hopes of preventing a similar experience for others especially individuals under 5 feet tall. The initial response I received was apologetic, and I appreciated that. However, after enduring five weeks of significant pain, I followed up to ask about the appropriate process before seeking medical care, as providers often ask for details about how an injury occurred. Unfortunately, the response I received at that point was defensive and dismissive, referencing a signed waiver rather than addressing the concern. The response was unfortunate. I fully understand that CPR training can be physically demanding. However, participants should be provided with a safe and properly adjusted environment to perform these skills. In this case, the setup did not allow for that and contributed directly to my injury. As a side note, I happened to have the session recorded (originally intended for social media), and it clearly shows the moment the injury occurred. Overall, I'm very disappointed in both the lack of appropriate setup and the company's response. I am still dealing with daily neck pain without resolution.

I'm back again to write a review...2 years later!…read more I retook this class AGAIN with Anabey with no hesitation. I was SO glad to see her as my instructor 2 years down the road and she hasn't changed a bit. She was funny and quirky and even another elderly student was laughing out loud. One major change to address: American Heart Association has updated their rules and regulations around April of 2016 so although some of the material was new, most of it was from what I could remember. Okay back to taking this course, Anabey was the great instructor she was as per usual (Read my review from 2 years ago), I forgot to note how she gives so many tips on becoming a great nurse so those of you who are going to do Nursing I recommend her, you will get some good tips! Another thing I noticed was that they give a certificate to verify that you passed this course immediately, which was helpful in so many ways (especially those of you who like to procrastinate aka me). I hope 2 years down the road I can come her again! It's worth every damn penny for an instructor to be skillful, knowledgeable, and funny at the same time. Thank you Anabey!

On the day of the course, I came in not really knowing what to expect. Dallas Shelly was my instructor, and honestly, he was amazing. By the end of it, I felt very satisfied and just wanted to come on here and say how easy the whole process was. In my experience, students were often told to purchase materials with little notice, sometimes the night before or even the same day they were needed, and some of those materials were never used at all. The quality of instruction also did not match the cost of the program. A large portion of the coursework was labeled as "self-study," with instructors frequently telling students to "read it on your own" rather than actually teaching the material during class. As a student, it felt frustrating to pay for instruction and support while being expected to teach myself much of the material. Students were also assigned handwritten "Signs and Symptoms" homework assignments that took a significant amount of time to complete but were never actually reviewed or gone over in class. With the large amount of material already being assigned, this often took away from valuable study time without providing much educational benefit. On quiz days, instructors would often quickly go over one or two chapters right before the quiz and then expect students to fully remember and understand all of the material immediately afterward. Personally, I felt there was not enough actual teaching, review, or preparation before being tested. During skills days, much of the equipment was broken or unusable, which made it difficult to practice properly. With around 60 students per class all paying nearly $1,500, I believe there should have been enough functioning equipment available for students. Another concern was the Block 2 exam. A new exam format was introduced, and the class average was reportedly around 60%, which made many students, including myself, feel that we were not properly prepared or set up for success. There were also multiple questions covering a topic that had never been discussed during lectures, which made the exam feel unfair and confusing for many students. I also spoke with many students throughout the class about their experiences with the program. A large handful mentioned that this was their second time taking the course because they had failed it the first time, which was honestly concerning to hear so often. The program also charges a $50 fee to reschedule ride-alongs regardless of the reason, including family emergencies or serious illness, and this policy was not clearly communicated beforehand. I also felt that students were often not clearly told why they failed certain tests or skills evaluations or what specific areas they needed to improve on. Because of this, I often felt unable to properly learn from my mistakes or understand what needed to be corrected moving forward. Overall, based on my personal experience, I would not recommend this program. It often felt more focused on collecting money than supporting students and helping them succeed.
