10/10 recommend Pro-Tech EMT School! They offer both accelerated courses and an evening course. The accelerated course is 8 hours a day, 3 days a week for 6 weeks. The evening course, which I took, is 2 nights a week for 4 hours, for 10 weeks. My advice would be, if you don't already have a good chunk of knowledge in pathophysiology, anatomy, and physiology, w/ some understanding of pharmacology/medical diseases, take the evening course. It's a slower pace (not super slow though), but it's only 4 weeks more than the accelerated course and you'll be a lot less stressed. I had Jerry as my main instructor and Raj for anatomy/pathophysiology and they were both phenomenal teachers. Jerry taught us in a way that really spoke to my way of learning through lots of real world examples & Raj really broke down the pathophysiology of the body in a way that just clicked in my brain! Not only was the course great and so informational, I passed my NREMT on the first try! Their goal really is to help you succeed on your journey from beginning to end, but you gotta put in the work too. They also work with you to help you get hired on to Faulk/CARE if you wanna work as an EMT straight out of your course. That's what they did for me and I'll be starting next week. 11/10 would recommend this school for anyone I know taking EMT classes (accelerated or evening class), POST (Peace Officer Safety Training) or CPR/AED Training. Taking an EMT class is different than any other schooling you will go through, right now I am a college student taking 15 units at Cal State Fullerton. I decided to take the M/W class 6pm-10pm. I didn't know if it was possible for me to do both schools, but I realized you just have to put in the work. Teachers: Brad who was my main teacher gives you the tools and knowledge to pass the class and pass the NREMT if you buy in and have a good attitude about it. You also have a couple of different teachers so they can teach you their viewpoint so you can hear different stories and different techniques for the class or the real world. The teachers will also allow you to stay late ask questions on things you are confused about or even help you map out a future plan to succeed in this career. Pro-Techs main goal: Pro-Tech cares about you passing the NREMT like every school, but they are one of the only schools who care about you being the best EMT you can be. They teach you to not be a wallflower (someone standing around while other people do the work), but they teach you to take initiative and to feel comfortable taking initiative. How to pass the class: I do recommend you putting in a good 3-4 hrs outside of the class studying every week if you take the evening class that I took. I put about 4 hrs every Monday into studying and I average about a 90-95% on every quiz. Pro-Tech vs other companies: Other schools care about their pass rate but they don't state their class retention rate if they fail you before the final of the class. They want you to just brag about how they have a high passing rate while from what I heard the students from other schools go into places like CARE not knowing basic skills. Opportunities to get jobs: Due to Pro-Techs close relation with CARE you have great networking opportunities with CARE ambulance company, and they put investment into making you the best EMT possible. All these other schools care about their pass rate but they don't care about giving you the knowledge and skills to be a successful EMT. What my friends have said at other companies: I have friends who have taken classes from West Coast EMT and they are jealous of what I am learning, how I am learning, and how the teachers care about you. They are also jealous of the overall pricing of the class. Pricing: Pro-tech has no hidden costs, everything you pay for upfront covers everything throughout the class, for example, the book and your uniform. The book also gives you study tools that you can use to study online instead of just reading. Things they can improve: At some points, the class did get a little unorganized and confusing, but they got it right back on track. Sometimes you would have a substitute teacher and you would have to tell them what you were learning but other than that it was an amazing class. Just a heads up: I did show up to the school before my class started, and it is taught at a church, so they are not always there. I just gave Brad a call and he was so nice and helpful, I realized that I picked the right school right then after having bad experiences communicating with other schools in the area. read more

I graduated from the course in December and I had the greatest time taking it! Brad and Daniel were both great instructors that not only knew the material extremely well, but were also able to help us apply the concepts we learned to real-life situations. For skills, we were able to train at CARE Ambulance with their current training officers. They taught and tested us exactly like they would for new employees. If you do well on these skills days, then they might offer you a job! If you are looking to become an EMT, you need to come to Pro Tech. Brad and Daniel are the greatest guys. They are willing to work with students schedules, if they can. I did the Accelerated Course M-W 9am to 5pm. They let me leave 20 minutes early some days so I could go to my class at Cypress College, which started at 5. If you are willing to put in the work, you can pass this class. Accelerated is a fast class, as we covered 3/4 chapters a day. For those who think that is too fast, they offer a night course! With the textbook, there is an online version available. I recommend doing the tests on there for each chapter (not counted towards your grade) as it helped me learn the concepts and prepare for quizzes. Teaching Methods: Brad, Daniel, and Glenn are excellent teachers. Very passionate and knowledgeable about the field and they took the time to make sure everyone understood the material covered. Unlike other emt schools that just use Powerpoints everyday, Pro-Tech had us do presentations, extra skills practice, and gave real life examples of what EMTs have seen in the field so we would truly know what to expect. They were approachable and willing to stay late or come in early for students that needed extra help. Skills Training: Skills was done at Care Ambulance and where we were given feedback and tips from current EMTs and their superiors. I felt so comfortable with each skill by the end of the course and passed the exam no problem because of the repetition and precision techniques they used while teaching. We were trained the same way Care trains their own employees. Doing well in front of Care employees makes it more likely that they will hire you after competing and passing the course. Room For Improvement: The only (very small) negative about this school for me was that sometimes the syllabus was not followed exactly as written. For most students this wasn't a problem, I just have a busy schedule and prefer to have all dates for class, skills days, quizzes, chapters to read, etc. on a set in stone calendar beforehand that we stick to. Seeing as Pro-Tech is a newer EMT school, its normal for this to be a work in progress and I am sure it will improve over time! NREMT: I had no problem passing this exam after taking the Pro-Tech course. If you put in the effort, study consistently, stay on top of course material, practice your skills over and over, and pay attention in class you will succeed in this class! Brad, Daniel, and Glen are all amazing teachers with awesome backgrounds in fire, police, and paramedicine. In the short 6 weeks that I spent in class, there was never a dull moment with these guys. Great stories of past and current events always kept the class interesting and Brad always had enough jokes to go around. My medical experience was barebones high school biology going into this class, and I'm happy to say that with a little bit of effort and some common sense, anyone can pass this class and come out as a competent EMT. After countless hours spent researching local EMT schools in my area (Riverside), I was extremely unimpressed. I decided to broaden my search results and came across Pro-Tech EMT in Anaheim. Sure it was a bit out of the way for me, but signing up for their 6 week accelerated course over the summer was one of the best decisions I have ever made. Daniel, Brad, Jerry, and Raj were the absolute best people to instruct the course because of all of their past and current experience in the EMS field. They were all extremely knowledgable and will go out of their way to make sure you understand the material if anything is unclear. They will answer any questions you have with respect since they know most of the information will be new to you. Their goal is to make sure you leave each class session feeling comfortable and confident in what you have learned. If you plan on signing up, my advice to you is to get involved and to NOT be a wallflower. You are there to learn what it takes to be successful in the field, so whatever you put into the course will be exactly what you get out. In terms of the learning experience, it definitely isn't like formal education because everything you learn can and will be applied to your line of work. Not only are you learning in a classroom setting, you will also take part in "Skills Training Days" at CARE Ambulance's headquarters to practice and physically put your knowledge to the test. If I'm being honest, I've taken 2 other EMT courses elsewhere and haven't succeed with them. Not to say anything bad about the prior classes I've taken but with Daniel and Brad (Pro-Tech Emt) things were different. These guys really invest in their students and do all that they can so you can pass. I took the National exam last week, and passed my first try. I'd be lying to say it's anything but the type of instructors Daniel and Brad are, I wouldn't have been able to do it without them.
