i went in to get my certification for adult/pediatric cpr and first aid today. it was super quick, simple, and informative. we had to initially watch these modules before attending class so everything was pretty much a review, we just rewatched the videos from prior. my instructor was named kaitlin (I believe that's the spelling), she was so helpful making sure every student knew what they were doing and corrected those that were missing key details. i hope everyone gets her as their instructor because not only was she a good teacher and demonstrated the techniques well, but she seemed like she loved what she was doing and was super sweet! i loved her energy and always had a smile on her face.

Adult & Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED - Red Cross
Darrell P.

CPR was recently added as a requirement to one of the teaching programs I'm involved in. I needed the Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED certification. The training is broken down into two parts: Part 1 - Online learning that contains 31 modules; takes approximately 2 1/2 hours to complete. (Red Cross portal) Part 2 - One hour in-person training/demo with adult & pediatric CPR dummies. Certification cost: $69 *Certificate valid for two years. Overall, it was a lot less painful than I'd anticipated. The most tedious part was the online training but the character designs and animation did make it somewhat entertaining. Too many lines and poor shadow placement on the face of an infant or child will add 20 year on the face; true story. (See screen grabs) LOL - Like I said, it was entertaining. The 31 online learning modules will take you approximately 2 1/2 hours; they vary in length. You will not be able to fast forward through a video, even if there's only 10 - 15 seconds remaining. Trust me, I tried... 'And tried... 'And tried. Yep, 2 1/2 hours. It wouldn't be so bad if the narrator spoke slightly more quickly or if participants were given an option to speed up the video rate by 25-50% percent. Can we speed it up? - https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=n-eRVNes-36qbWaQR6T0Wg&userid=O6EBodP3Fgu_n67efSKnBQ First off, very informative and the repetition of training was great learning tool. The modules or "missions," which they are referred to on the Red Cross learning site are relatively thorough and present you with a variety of scenarios in which you may be called into action. However, I have to say that I was a little surprised to not see a swimming pool/drowning mission in the online training. The site's wash, rinse, & repeat method has its benefits in hopes of helping participants retain the information. "Check-Call-Care" (The three C's) The modules are somewhat set up like Nintendo's "Zelda," with the option to interact with various *characters within the scene as well as action items to choose. (When I say "characters," I'm not kidding because the character designs/animation is at the very least entertaining but more on that later.) As you complete the various missions, there is a progress bar located at the top center of the screen that moves forward allowing you to see your progress in that particular module. At the end of the module, you will either receive a "Completed," or a "Retry," in which you will have to reattempt the mission. So, 31 missions and 2 1/2 hours later; clickety-click, click! Hit print and you're done! Next step; in-person training with an instructor. (Don't forget to bring a print out or digital file of completion forthe online training portion. It is a prerequisite in being able to participate in the the onsite training.) Our instructor, Kimia, was great. Photo - https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=ayGO4DEO4jgPdiQwciB0LA&userid=O6EBodP3Fgu_n67efSKnBQ The training was quick, to the point, and covered what was learned via the online missions. Kimia peppered in a bit of humor which was appreciated. My first words were, "Awesome a baby! (Holding the infant CPR dummy) "I haven't been this close to a baby sine the restraining order!" I think I heard a gasp or two, my friends whom I was taking the course with looked @ me with shocked expressions. (sigh) 'And I'm just getting started! I'm kidding... 'But would it be wrong to say I found the open mouth of the adult CPR dummy somewhat arousing? Still kidding!! Photo - https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=tyWFpAmq0XEHiytxjw9VDA&userid=O6EBodP3Fgu_n67efSKnBQ There were 14 attendees; two of whom only needed the CPR certification less the first aid training. The latter two were dismissed from class earlier than the rest of the group. The adult/baby CPR dummies had built in electronic sensors which informed you: A) Compressions are too fast B) Compressions are too slow Note: Most people have a tendency to apply compressions on the "too fast" side" of the spectrum. You DO NOT want your patient to feel like they ran a marathon! HA! If you applied enough pressure to the chest of the CPR dummy; you'd hear a click. If not, you need to push harder. (2" for adult; 1 1/2" for infant) After each CPR training with the adult & baby dummy, we then proceeded with AED training for each as well. We reviewed the proper guidelines in using the equipment; process of correct pad placement, precautions, different possible challenges that we may face, etc. Overall, great training; online & in-person. Okay, now let me tell you about the characters and animation; entertaining to say the least! HA! It provided some relief to the tedious 2 1/2 hours that I was held hostage to the screen. I completed CPR training in February 2026 in Colorado and initially, the process itself was smooth…read more I can certainly acknowledge that. However, there were significant issues with the training setup that ultimately led to an injury. Due to the room configuration, I was unable to properly reach the mannequins and had to perform CPR on my tiptoes. The table was not adjustable, and no stool or accommodation was available. As a result of these poor ergonomics and lack of proper setup, I sustained a neck and trapezius injury mid-cycle. Ended up having to literally crawl on to the table . At the time, I reached out simply to provide feedback in hopes of preventing a similar experience for others especially individuals under 5 feet tall. The initial response I received was apologetic, and I appreciated that. However, after enduring five weeks of significant pain, I followed up to ask about the appropriate process before seeking medical care, as providers often ask for details about how an injury occurred. Unfortunately, the response I received at that point was defensive and dismissive, referencing a signed waiver rather than addressing the concern. The response was unfortunate. I fully understand that CPR training can be physically demanding. However, participants should be provided with a safe and properly adjusted environment to perform these skills. In this case, the setup did not allow for that and contributed directly to my injury. As a side note, I happened to have the session recorded (originally intended for social media), and it clearly shows the moment the injury occurred. Overall, I'm very disappointed in both the lack of appropriate setup and the company's response. I am still dealing with daily neck pain without resolution.

I've renewed my BLS many times with other companies, but this guy really teaches to save lives. The only issue I have is that I asked for CEU's and was never given them. Super important if you need them for a job. They never got back to me after I asked if I could get them. I also got an email stating that I'd probably pay more money, when on the website, it states they give CEU's when taking this class. Overall, class was great with a great instructor.
