I'm a gold member and yet this will likely be the last time I rent with Hertz. At initial check in…read morethey were friendly, but when I got in the car, I noticed it smelled severely of air freshener. I assumed this was just related to the cleaning and was exhausted after a long day, so took the car into the city where I was staying. Didn't end up driving at the next day, but the day after I got in and noticed a severe cigarette sent and a cigarette burn on the driver side seat. In addition, the cigarette or small storage area in the console was sticky and dirty, and the cover for the back storage area was obviously from a different vehicle, did not fit, and took up a large portion of the rearview mirror space. None of this had been noted prior to renting the Car. I stopped at three Hertz locations and was told they did not have any cars that I could trade out for. RJ with reservations told me these locations would have cars, but said he couldn't reserve any for me and couldn't make any promises. Elijah at the State Street Chicago location walked away from me, after telling me there were no cars and did not offer any type of support or even a phone number to call for assistance. Larry at Midway location (again, where I was told cars were available on the phone) told me there was nothing for me and would hardly even make eye contact. He also mentioned that it was Saturday so I shouldn't really expect anything and that there wasn't really any customer service or manager available. When I asked about options, he just handed me the customer service booklet and again ignored any further questions that I had. Overall, I spent half a day trying to figure this out and still got nowhere. I spent over an hour on hold with no one even picking up the phone just calling and dialing multiple locations without getting any assistance. Extremely disappointed with the customer service experience even with gold status!

Stuck here at the Chicago airport with no car. Made our reservation over a week ago. So…read moredisappointed. Pay more for better service and here we stuck with no car.... Shame on you Hertz...

Atrociously slow and under staffed at the check in desk......took us 50 minutes in line before we…read morefinally saw one of the two agents they had staffed on a Friday afternoon (there were at least 4 other computer terminals available for workers) - meanwhile, we watched EVERY OTHER car rental provider (including jointly owned Budget) power thru their customer service lines quickly and efficiently.......once we got to our car, we self scanned out with TWO workers sitting in the exit booth watching - of course the device to let us out broke, so the TWO workers had to call another worker who had the key to reset the machine - which the two workers told us breaks frequently - absolute cluster fuck - moving forward I'll pay more to avoid Avis - also, one of the two workers at the check in allowed a customer to go outside to get better cell service and did NOT have the next person in line step forward - horrifically inefficient and reflective of how front line staff at this location feels about waiting customers (picture below).......two other notes of interest.....as a regular car renter, I've NEVER been asked "Where are you going?" In an "I need to know so I can approve it" way......I have had workers ask in a fun, I hope you enjoy it way......this was rude, intrusive, and none of her business......the car was rented to be picked up and dropped off at the same location......the worker also TOLD me after I declined the gas's option "you'll need to bring a receipt from a gas station within 5 miles of the airport when you drop it off".......Two words.....Fuck & You!!! But guess what, we did it and we were NOT asked for it......F&Y!!!!

They called the manager, Lamar, who took care of the details in a timely fashion and was also very kind and professional. I was in line for over an hour to be seen. I rented an intermediate SUV, but they only had large pickup trucks. I took the offer. The check- in staff was professional and friendly given the circumstances. They provided a fuel credit due to the inconvenience. The pickup was too big for my needs. Difficult to maneuver. Many of the features that should be available on a large vehicle were not equipped or programmed, especially the parking technology. My car lacked wrap- around cameras to assist parking, proximity warnings when close to objects, or back up warnings. The back- up camera was imprecise. I had no functional trunk. My drop-off experience was poor. It was Easy to drop off. One agent was friendly and helpful. The other public- facing agents were uncaring or rude. My agent barely spoke to me and didn't ask basic questions about returning the vehicle. Offered no assistance. I also had bad experience with staff in preferred member area. Five minutes after returning car, I realized that I had missing items. The friendly return agent directed me to the desk agent. The desk agent was openly dismissive and rude to me . Suggested that that my reason for checking the car was not important. She was dismissive and didn't want to offer help. This is not an exaggeration. This experience makes me less likely to rent a vehicle from this vendor at that location.

The body work looks okay (There are little imperfections but I am not tripping on that. ) HOWEVER…read morethey didn't put my tire on right at all and shorty after I left the establishment , I heard a wobbly noise coming from the BACK of my car. I called them to let them know I was experiencing wobbles from my steering wheel and a noise. They tried to tell me they heard it as well and it was coming from the FRONT of my car. I told them it was not coming from the front. Brought it back and they kept it over the weekend & I received it on my original pickup date. ( They finished early) Now it's been 2 weeks passed and my entertainment system has completely shut off and I KNOW there's a correlation between the two! ( I have to pay 7k to get it fixed by Kia dealership, that's a down payment on a car.) There was two times I turned my car on and it glitched prio, I thought nothing of it at first but I should've went with my gut.That they messed something up! If you have a Kia K5 DO NOT BRING IT HERE for REPAIR. They don't know what they're doing with these models and you'll end up screwed in the end. Please, get them trained for these models.

I had a fender-bender with damage to the left rear bumper and frame of our car (less than a year…read moreold). Bennett Auto rebuilders gave me an accurate estimate for price, amount of time for repair, and the car honestly looks better than new! Al, Michael, and Jean are certainly Pros and provided excellent communication and customer service. A coworker was just recently in an accident and recommending Bennett Auto Rebuilders to her.
