Then all of a sudden they could come get!?! I Had to leave work to deal with it and then it took me all day and soo many phone calls to get it handled. They wouldn't move it!!! PODS Moving & Storage - A pod that was supposedly on the curb, practically in the yard! - Self Storage Near Me - East Point, Georgia

This is all following a cross-country move in which I am by myself and managing this communication with PODS and their insurance representative during evenings and weekends while starting a demanding new work position. I'd also note between speaking with their customer service reps. and drivers whatever they tell you they are noting for you on your account during these phone calls is not being documented or communicated to the next team member. Additionally, PODS upcharged me several hundred dollars upon confirming the final delivery address. I did not have a place lined up when I made the move and gave them a zip code as approximate delivery address and was verbally told during a phone call pre-move that there should be no changes to final cost so long as the delivery was within a certain boundary was destination address holding facility. The zip code I gave them and the zip code that wound up being correct delivery address are less than 5 miles apart so just another piece of frustration adding to this. Long of the short to the below, they prompt you with intended directions for delivery that they themselves will not follow and what I would think would be a fairly common sense thought to not drop off a container with the only opening facing a decline sloped on non-level pavement. My claimed damages were less than my actual damages since they have covered themselves with contract language and in my haste to get set up in my new residence I immediately disposed of broken plates/dishware and other non-compelling damages I just accepted. Use their services with caution. Chronology (so far): 2/26- Called PODS to report issue with delivery not being in correct orientation per my requested dropoff instructions through their website, and subsequently being unable to open door of container due to being stuck with apparent contents inside weighing against the door. Delivery orientation instructions was provided via a simple diagram option prompt on their website which showed a box with a door and the direction in which you would request for the door orientation to be facing. I selected the orientation with the door facing out towards the street side. This is not documented on any contract documents; my given written instructions are to provide delivery drop-off in empty parking spaces not marked reserved. 2/26- Resolved issue with opening door w/out assistance from PODS after being told the next available date for a driver was a week later. Upon being able to open the car after having to crawl inside with less than a two foot opening and removing enough small objects to create enough space to relieve the weight on the door, found immediate damages from contents shifting/toppling in direction of decline slope towards the container door opening due to the delivery orientation of container; container was dropped off with the door facing a decline slope on non-level pavement 2/27- Called PODS to inform of intent to file claim and requested information on what would be required with a claim. Customer service rep. had informed me to provide pictures of damaged belongings Customer service rep. did not provide me with contact information with which to provide photos to during this phone call as I told them I was unpacking and they informed me to prepare photos of damages for the claim. 3/7- Called PODS back for email contact information. They did not provide one during this phone call but gave me a ticket # for this claim and said I would be contacted in the following business days. #02629182 3/9- Received email from 3rd party insurance with claims form. I filled out and returned form the same day in the evening and provided photo attachments of obvious furniture damage and Google drive links for additional photos, including details on the incorrect delivery orientation and material packing protections used/in place during the delivery, as requested per the form instructions. 3/10- Contacted by 3rd party via email to inform me they could not review photos from Google drive links and I would have to resend. I resent and provided photos through multiple emails the same day. 3/11 Contacted again by 3rd party via email to request additional supplementary photos of container as packed at original pick up location and as delivered at final destination. I responded with the original photos provided and did not furnish any additional photos of the container packed conditions. 3/12 Third party contacted me again via email and included a statement misrepresenting my previous written communication and assuming blame on me for the delivery drop-off directions - I explicitly wrote what direction I requested for and how the delivery arrived and the confusing interpretation of what I communicated was restated back to me as "In that message, you mentioned that the container was placed correctly per your request to PODS and that the door had jammed". I responded to correct this statement and directly quoted my earlier email. read more

Dropped off Pods at 7:30 and we did same day pick up was picked up by 4:00 pm. Recommended if you are moving to another state and don't have your living arrangements finalized. They need a weeks notice to deliver your Pods and if you wants same day pick up it's an additional $199. read more

When I scheduled the pickup of my Pod, on the day of pickup I checked my account and noticed that they charged me $593.97 for 2 months rental of the Pod when I was originally quoted a fee of $204.65 per month. To get entice me to rent from them they quoted one price and then charged an enormous fee at the end. They originally gave a military discount and then took it away. But in light of the current climate, Veterans get screwed just like anybody else! I will never use Pods again and will discourage anyone else I know not to use them either. read more

Hidden fees. Watch out when reserving with Pods. You schedule online and think what a great price. But that initial price you see is only for delivery of the Pod and monthly storage. There is an additional fee to drop back off to your house. And don't believe what they say will fit into one Pod. I initially ordered two Pods, 2600 square ft house, should be plenty of space. Nope. I had to order an additional two Pods and my stuff was packed into those 4 containers. In the end it was way more money that I expected. read more

My experience while booking my POD was wonderful but this did not hold up. The day I go to access my container at the East Point location they were already closed and said it is not ready. The hours online show 8 am-11 pm. The person on site told me 8 am-3 pm and that they tell everyone this, but they never told me. The employee told me it would be ready the next day at 8 am, I call at 1 pm and it is still not ready and now their reservations are full for another 3 days. Not only did I get poor communication, I was lied to by an employee who never really cared to rectify my situation even though I have a sensitive time frame. I booked this almost a month in advance and really expected better. It is also impossible to talk to an employee on the phone at your location. The customer service rep on the phone only offered very little compensation and no real solutions other than rescheduling for a third time. read more

PODS is a terrible option. They are more expensive than most others, and what you get for that money is slower service, damage to your property, failure to follow instructions multiple times, and defective locks that you'll need a locksmith to open. PODS damaged our house and when we told them, they didn't say sorry and instead told us that we took that risk by contracting with then and so it was our fault. That's insane. On another delivery, they blocked the entire driveway making the driveway and garage unusable. The locks they provided (which we paid for) failed and required a locksmith to cut open. The locksmith offered to certify that they were defective, poor quality locks. The PODS website is also horrible, and when you make a change it takes like 5 minutes to even reload the page. We repeatedly had drivers who either hadn't read the instructions or the company never entered the instructions. And remember, there's a minimum week-long delay from when they pick up the container to when they can redeliver it, even if you are just one state away. Enjoy paying more in exchange for having no access to your stuff for longer than a traditional mover. We had a good experience the first time we used this company over a decade ago, but they have changed significantly since then. We strongly recommend you choose anyone else. Any company that tells you that you took the risk of contracting with them after they damaged your property is one that you should not take the risk to do business with at all. read more

This was a total debacle from the first day. I ordered a pod and had it delivered; tried to set up a day for them to pick it up but they didn't have days available to come move it to the new house. We called them multiple times to try and find a resolution. They simply did not have enough drivers to do the job they set out to do. Our things arrived at our new house 2 1/2 weeks after we closed, meaning our stuff sat on someone else's property for a long period of time. Because of the delay in picking up the pod, we were forced to pay a second months rent for the pod. I contracted with PODS to store my furniture when I sold my house in Jan, 2024. while I continued to look for a house in GA. I did not know at the time that I would be moving to FL in May, 2024. I contacted PODS in April, 2024 to find out how much it would cost for them to bring my POD to FL. After talking with them I received another bill even though I had already paid for April. This bill was for $271 and I had already paid the monthly fee of $343. I reached out to PODS to try to understand why I received this bill. After numerous phone calls and encountering rude customer service from several customer service employees, I was finally told that since my move was no longer local there would be an additional charge for each month (makes no sense to me). They were still storing my POD in the same location. One person I talked with was very rude John and not helpful at all. He claimed that I gave them the wrong address to deliver my POD. Then someone else from collections called and said that I had to pay them an additional $44.00 to get the POD delivered. And they required me to complete a credit card authorization form even though they had my credit card on file. This was inconvenient as I had already moved to FL. and did not have access to a printer so I had to find a Staples to print down the form and fax it back to them. This was all happening 2 days before my next monthly rate would go into effect. This was by far the worst experience I had trying to get my POD delivered to my home in GA so that I could transfer my furniture to a truck and bring it to FL. Bottom line the customer service was horrible and there was only one person who seemed to be adequately trained and that was Nina. After all this, POD did refund my $44.00 and apologized for the problem but I feel sure that I will not use them again. They were basically holding me hostage until I paid the $44.00 which I did not owe and after they accused me of giving the wrong address, all of a sudden they found the right house after I complained to the Manager or CEO. read more

Problem after problem, This company needs better communication and coordination. They have charged my cc 5 time and there are only two payments; deposit and final. They screwed up my order by delivering a size pod I did not ask for. They charged my CC for the initial payment over 1700 and then charged again at delivery of the empty container reversed the charges and the. called and wrote me to say I was past due. When I finally got ahold of them there were several email invoices I have no idea why!! The truck drivers are scary and overly nervous types. The whole experience has been a mess. I would not recommend them or ever use them again. Like many other reviewers here, I have been stuck in a battle with PODS for more than a month. When they confirmed they could not ship my POD for 2 weeks, I have them RECORDED saying they would push the "renewal for storage" date back, based on its arrival to my new state. Since the 2 week delay was of course not my fault. Low and behold, they tried to charge me for a month of storage, and did not push the date back. I called many, many times, have a opened case with them, and the best they could do was offer to refund me $25? They are trying to steal $900 from me. Now they are holding my account hostage, telling me they can't close it, unless I pay the month of storage they told me I would not have to pay! They admitted it was an error on their side, and are now trying to get me to pay a SECOND MONTH of storage by keeping my account open. I can't get any answers out of the customer service reps because the warehouse won't answer their calls. So far my experience with pods has been great. They delivered my two units on time and picked them both up on time. I opted to have my units store at their pods facility since my house won't be finished being built for a couple months. I needed to get some boxes out that were Christmas gifts for the kids so I called and scheduled an appointment to have the pod pulled down from storage so I can go through it and take out the items I needed. They guy that drives the fork lift was great and I really liked his energy. I would recommend using pods for your moving needs.. if you have a 4 bedroom house plan to use at least 2 of the largest pods they offer. Might need more but my wife doesn't like to throw things away so you might better off than I was lol. Let me be clear, this isn't something that's cheap or the most cost effect way to move. Once all said an done I'll probably be paying close to $2k but it's about convenience. With 2 kids I didn't have time to rent a uhaul load everything up then unload in storage then when time to move again rent another uhaul load the truck from storage and then unload in the house. I rather just unload and load once and be able to take my time while doing If looking for convenience I recommend using Pods read more

I bought a house, and the sellers pods are still on my driveway. The seller has no way of contact and the sellers agent is unresponsive. I have tried to call pods myself to have the pods removed but they say they cannot help me because I'm not the owner of the pods. This is unacceptable that I have to store someone's pods ON MY PROPERTY just because I don't have a PIN number. I have the property address, number on pods, and the name associated. I will never use pods! And I encourage anyone else who is considering pods to not use them. This is completely unacceptable! I've been storing these pods in my driveway for over 24 days! read more

The first POD delivery caused $300 in tree damage which in turn damaged the retaining wall between my property and my neighbors. We're still working on getting this resolved. The first POD was damaged in transit. It took me 4 different agents on the phone before I even knew that it was damaged and wasn't going to be delivered. Luckily there was no water damage, but our furniture have dust/heat stains now. The second POD couldn't be delivered for 2 weeks after I originally scheduled it. I was able to hire a crew to go unload the contents of the POD and have it moved to our house, but this was a nightmare dealing with PODs. They also told me a claim was opened for the POD damage and someone would be contacting me. No one has reached out yet. Please find alternatives if you are considering PODs. If I did it all over again, the extra cost of having a moving company taking care of everything from loading to storage/unloading would have made up for the awful experience dealing with PODs read more

If I could give a minus review of PODS, I would. The driver that delivered the POD and picked it up was very nice, but the "managers" at the 877 #, not so much. I had the POD on our property for a few months storing furniture that was inherited. The monthly fee was taken from my account on the 23rd of the month. On the 30th of the same month, we opened the POD to find it had leaked and water had run down the wall and there was mildew on the walls as well as the fabric and wood furniture. I immediately called POD at 877 # to pick up the POD. I was told it could not be picked until the 11th of the following month. The representative who processed my pickup told me that she would file a request for full refund as I called before the end of the month. I called repeatedly when no refund was applied to my credit card. After third call, I was given the phone # of a supervisor. When I was finally able to reach one, I was told that no refund would be issued as I had gone six days into the month before calling. So, in the end, I was charged for 24 days I was not able to use the POD because I waited six days to call. I guess you better check your POD daily if you don't want to be over charged! The customer service reps have limited capabilities on their ability to provide answers on statuses and their are no upper level management to speak to. We were literally told that our scheduled pick up was canceled without a call due to a declined payment despite the rep clearly seeing that a payment was properly processed and charged. We have had a terrible experience with pods! The delivery was satisfactory, but the pick-up has been awful. First, the first opportunity to schedule a pick-up was nearly three weeks away. Then they only picked up one of the two pods we rented. I immediately called and was assured we would not be charged for another month when they could not pick up the pod within the 30-day rental window. Yet we were charged anyway, and our dispute to refund the charges was declined. I just called again, and the automated system indicated that the call-back time is 2 hours. It is now late on Wednesday night and the POD has yet to be picked up. So the pod was delivered 6 days early, before I even signed an agreement or paid, and was in violation of my HOA rules as a result. When we decided to rent a POD we were thinking that it will be stress less and convenient... actually it is not!!! We moved from Chicago to Atlanta. For our move out scheduled on Thursday morning they called us last minute, Wednesday afternoon, to tell us they have to reschedule to Friday because they didn't have a truck available on Thursday! We had to cancel our movers and find others, rescheduled the reservation of the elevator and book hostel for the night. For our move in, same story but this time we waited the whole day for the redelivery of our POD. I called the customer service several times, they told me that I must wait, that they give a 3h time window but they cannot guarantee they will arrive in time because there are couple factors they cannot control like weather or traffic... finally they never showed up and they even didn't call us to apologize and reschedule. Again, we had to book a hostel for the night. They called us the next day to say that our POD will be delivered in 30 min. The finale pick up was also a big joke. The driver came and was not able to pick up the POD, he said that the POD was dropped off too close to the wall. They rescheduled again to send another driver! We opened 2 disputes with this company but almost one month later we are still waiting to hear back from them. read more

Unless you know for sure that both places you are needing the pod to be will fit not only the pod, but the giant truck, and then some, do not use pods. The delivery driver was unable to maneuver into the parking lot of my new condo building (keep in mind that I didn't know where I would be moving to when I ordered the pod, and that is the whole reason I chose to use pods) and gave up without trying much at all. He couldn't or wouldn't provide any further options other than "hire another moving truck to come to the pods warehouse and pick up your stuff." The manager at the warehouse was rude and also didn't not provide any options other than for me to hire a separate company at the very last minute to complete the job I had hired pods to do. I'm not normally a person who writes reviews, and if the people involved who worked for pods had been at least sympathetic to my situation I would not be writing this now. I chose pods because they advertised flexibility and flexibility was what I needed. They failed to provide what they advertised and were completely unhelpful when I needed the flexibility I was promised. read more

I wish I had paid more attention to the bad reviews about this company. I don't usually take 1-star reviews seriously, let alone write them, but now here we are. I'm now going on three weeks without my container and I have little confidence that this company even knows where it is. I ordered three containers about three months ago to start the process of moving from one city to another. The second and third worked relatively fine, but the first one was never shipped to my new town, despite me following up with customer service (when I ordered the second container) to make sure it was on its way. I was assured that it was departing in late May (It is now August.) After I moved and went to schedule it to be delivered to my house, I was told it had never even arrived at their warehouse here. Fine, I said, we'll take it next week then. We were initially not in a hurry to get it since we had most of the things we needed to set up the house in the other two PODs. Delivery day rolled around and...nothing. Rescheduled it for the next day and nothing. Got a call from them AFTER it was late informing me of that fact. Then the next day got an email from their escalation department saying they were working on it. Good, maybe we'll get this resolved. Unfortunately, it's now been SEVENTEEN days after that initial customer service email and no news on the status of my container. The email communications with them are tedious and frustrating. They didn't even pick up the phone when we called. I have been polite and patient up till now, but I don't appreciate all the sterile corporate-speak replies that seem to go out of the way to avoid saying "we don't know where your stuff is". The experience comes off very much like they are stalling for time, but simultaneously not productively looking for the container with that time. These containers have numbers printed on the sides so they can be differentiated from one another. You're telling me someone can't go out into the warehouse, go through all the 8 footers and locate my container within one day so you can at least tell me you do have it? I did a little warehouse work in the military and our storage area was much more vast and difficult to navigate than anything PODS is dealing with and we routinely did manual searches for items that weren't in our computer...and found them quickly. Making mistakes is inevitable. I understand errors happening, but dragging your feet for this long (and who knows how much more time will go by after I write this) is completely out of line, especially for the large amount of money I've paid. I don't think I've ever dealt with a company before that made me consider pursuing some sort of legal action, but if this goes on for much longer, that's feeling more like a possibility. I will be escalating this issue further up into their company until I can get someone competent to respond (if that's even possible). I am so thankful they didn't mess around and lose the container with our main furniture, kitchen stuff, etc. but there's no reason at all why that couldn't happen to you. Imagine showing up to your new house on moving day and not only does your stuff not show up, you aren't even given any sense whatsoever when or if it's going to arrive. Please read the other negative reviews and steer clear of this unprofessional company. The idea of PODS is great, especially if you aren't moving immediately to your new spot, but there are actually other businesses that offer this same service. I will look into them in the future and won't give PODS another dollar. EDIT: Notice PODS' reply below. I contacted them, they asked for my info, and it's been another FIVE days (so far) without any information from them. In what world does customer service do their job in anything over 1 day, or a handful of hours? Keep in mind, my previous interaction with their people resulted in what has now been a month with no results (or ANY definite information from them. Based on what they've told me so far, my container could be anywhere, because what they've told me amounts to nothing. At what point does this count as theft? We've now decided to contact an attorney and see what sort of lawsuit we can put in motion. They are about to cost me at least $5,000 because of some equipment I need to access in this container and will now have to repurchase so I can fulfill an obligation. NEVER EVER EVER EVER USE THIS COMPANY! I had a delivery scheduled between 2-5 pm on Saturday... I get a call at 7pm Saturday saying that the caller has had the "worst day of his life" and that his people called out and my pod won't be delivered until first thing Monday morning (which is the start of school for my kids in a new school district). Then he went on to say that he couldn't refund any of my moving costs. THEN INSTEAD OF FIRST THING MONDAY MORNING IT GETS SCHEDULED FOR 1:45-4:45. Not only that but when the pod was picked up from my former residence, the driver put the support down in the grass and chewed up the lawn. Thanks for having my kids sleep on the floor before their first day of school. Thanks for me having to cancel on my other movers who were counting on you being here. Thanks for 3 extra days of zero furniture and personal belongings. Thanks for being an abhorrence of a POS company. I'd carry my couch to the new house on my bac before I used a pods company again. UPDATE: So they said to send a dm with my customer number.... I didn't see anywhere to dm so I went to their website to try and send an email. No customer service email address either. This left me with calling customer service and, long story short, they shuffled me around for 15 mins and then said someone else would be calling from the specific location in 30 to 45 mins. Surprise surprise.... I'm still waiting on the call a day later. I wasn't given any kind of direct contact number. I haven't been issued any kind of refund and nothing of the sorts has been mentioned. I HATE THIS COMPANY. I've never had a more dissatisfying customer service experience... except with the IRS. On two separate occasions they have failed to redeliver my POD, resulting in the need to reschedule movers on multiple occasions and being forced to live without any of my basic household items for days since I closed on my new home. At this moment I have no clue where all of my things are - a POD filled to the brim with a three bedroom household and it's just nowhere to be found because I simply cannot get these people to live up to their word and deliver my things to my new home. The lack of professionalism and communication on my pod delivery is truly disappointing. My pod was supposed to be delivered From the staging facility in Atlanta Saturday, April 24 btwn 7:30a-10:30a. After multiple calls to customer service I learned the truck was enroute just delayed. The driver did not answer and the customer service rep could not provide an ETA. I have movers on standby mind you. It's ~4p And still no pod, no updates ETA, no available information from customer service other than the truck would still deliver today. My final pickup was also scheduled for Sat April 24 btwn 2:30-5:30. I received a call from the local dispatcher and driver for the final Pick up concerned that they could not locate the pod. I informed them that the pod was never delivered and I didn't have an ETA. The local dispatcher researched the issue and learned the initial driver never showed for the shift and my pod never left the staging location. I am thoroughly upset that no one in customer service communicated this information during one of the 5+ calls made Saturday. My pod delivery and final pick up was rescheduled for Monday April 24. I was told that The 3 hour window would be communicated Sunday afternoon and available online. It's almost 11p Sunday April 25 and I still don't know when my pod will arrive. I am unable to schedule movers and ensure space availability at the loading dock due to pods lack of communication. This is completely unacceptable. read more

Our defective POD arrived at almost 5 PM (very last minute of 3 hour service window). I have been on phone now for over 45 mins (holding and talking to agent) because the door on the POD will not open all the way. It gets stuck half way up where the latch is. There is no reason this defective unit should have ever been delivered to us and no way should I have to spend this amount of time to get it corrected - and can't! I'm being told because it's "late in the day" no one can help me tonight on the phone and I am to wait for an email to arrive. Really? Horrible first experience and will be my last! read more

It doesnt matter which location you use, they misrepresent the costs and the insurance to cover your property. Expenses are set up in a rollover type situation so that each POD is priced and billed differently. It is almost impossible to track. Then, if anything is damaged, and it will be, they make excuses for not covering your property even though they guarantee you up front that they cover everything. I lost over $3000 when they refused to cover my property. read more

PODS has been my go to company for quick easy storage as we renovate our home. Delivery of my simple to use yet high quality container was quick and convenient. Pick up was more of the same amazing service! My driver was careful and pleasant. We will certainly use them again! read more

Let me first say that I will never ever use this service again. I planned my deliveries and pickup more than 7 days in advance. I contacted customer to confirm delivery on the 18th and guess what it wasn't delivered. I was told that they didn't understand why it didn't add me to the schedule. Needless to say I lost money due to having to pay movers to leave. Next after letting me know that I wasn't at fault they thrm schedule me for off the books Saturday. I should have been first on the list since you missed me on Friday. Second no show I had to cancel again the movers and the window I was provided no call no show. I called customer service via phone and chat 5 times and each and everyone assured me that it would be delivered. I don't see how you all stay in business doing customers in such way. I paid what was do and I'm not getting the same respect. I am a sickly women and truly thought this would be the most effective way to move and boy was I ever so wrong.
