    Chicago Cheesesteak Deep Dish Pizza

Okay so nobody cared for their Detroit Style pizza- burnt and didn't like. Both the Chicago Deep Dish Pizzas were pretty good. Kind of pricey but the employees seemed nice and I believe the owner who helped us was very nice. The only issue we had besides the burnt Detroit style pizza was they put peppers on the Chicago Cheesesteak pizza that was supposed to have plain. We wound up having to wait another half an hour for them to make a new PLAIN cheesesteak deep dish pizza. Owner (I believe) said we get a discount for our next orders. So we shall update if that happens. Longggggg ride but I did enjoy the white deep dish so I'll take it! Place seemed to be nice and cozy and quiet.

Food! Undercooked dough, over-garlicy, too sweet sauce. The people who work there are very nice, tho.

Tried it twice. Pizza is awful. Sit down dinner, almost gagged. Nothing Italian about this place. Too bad. Really wanted to like it.

Well, here's my experience. (Aside from this experience, I did go once before just for a slice; wasn't that amused with the staff, but the pizza was decent.) Me: Hello, can I place an order for pickup? Clerk: Sure, what would you like? Me: I'd like a large half pepperoni and cheese, and a large vodka sauce pizza. Clerk: Okay, that will be $43. It will be ready in 20 minutes. Me: Okay, see you soon. I walk into the restaurant. Me: Hello, I ordered the 2 pies. Clerk: Okay, that will be $43. Are you paying with cash or card? Me: Card. Clerk: Okay, here is your receipt. The pizza will be right out. Me: (stands around for another 10 minutes) Clerk: Here's your pizza. Have a good day. Me: Thank you. As I walk away with the pizza, I'm thinking to myself that they are very heavy. I walk to the car and open them up, and what was supposed to be the vodka sauce pizza was a white vodka sauce with fried chicken and penne pasta. So, I head back in to get this fixed. Me: Hello, this isn't what I ordered. There's chicken and penne on this pizza; I just wanted a vodka sauce pizza. Clerk: Okay, sorry about that. I'll see what they can do about this. Me: Thank you so much. Now, here's where it gets interesting. Clerk: Do you want them to just pick the chicken and pasta off the pizza? Me: Um, no. That would completely butcher the pizza ‍. Clerk: Okay, um, do you want a new pizza? Me: No, it's okay. I'll just take a refund. Clerk: Okay, let me talk to the manager. Manger says he can't give you a refund. Me: yes he has to or I will be calling my bank and making this a fraudulent charge. Clerk:I'll be right back Manager: I CAN'T GIVE YOU A REFUND. THAT'S $24 THAT I HAVE TO GIVE YOU. EVERYONE IS MAKING $24, AND NOW I HAVE TO GIVE YOU MONEY. HOW DID YOU PLACE THE ORDER, PHONE OR ONLINE? Me: Over the phone, and yes, you owe me $24 because that is not what I ordered, and I'm not walking away with the pizza. I want a refund. Manager: (huffs, yells at the clerk, and tells her that she put the order in wrong) Tells her to refund me. Clerk: Here is your refund. Would you like a receipt? Me: Oh yes, indeed. I come home with just the one half pepperoni and cheese. It's a thicker pizza than the slice I had one month prior. The bread was doughy, and the cheese was meh. There was a little bit of good flavor in the sauce though. Curious to know what kind of ingredients they are using since they can't afford to give me a refund and questioning the freshness of those ingredients. It's safe to say, I don't need to go back there and I'll keep my business with AJs.

Once seated, we were greeted promptly with water and our server took our initial drink, appetizer, and dinner orders without issue. The appetizers arrived in a reasonable amount of time, but after that, the service began to decline. We had to ask twice just to order a second round of drinks. When the entrees arrived, everyone at the table received their meal except me. The server asked if everyone had their food, and I told her that I was still waiting for my Steak Frites special. She checked her order book, said something, and walked away. Unfortunately, no one returned to update us. After waiting another 10 minutes, I encouraged the rest of my family and friends to begin eating so their meals wouldn't get cold. When there was still no update, I flagged down another server, who said they would check with the kitchen. A few minutes later, they returned and said they weren't sure what had happened but that my meal was being prepared. After another 10 minutes passed, I asked to speak with a manager. I was told there wasn't a manager available and that they understood my frustration. By this point, it was nearly 9:30 p.m., my entire table had nearly finished eating, and I still hadn't received my dinner. When my steak finally arrived, it wasn't what I had ordered. I had ordered the NY Strip Steak Frites special but instead received a 10-ounce sirloin. Again, the explanation was simply that they weren't sure what had happened--perhaps another guest had received my order or there had been a mistake in the kitchen. To the restaurant's credit, they removed my steak from the bill. However, what disappointed me most wasn't the mistake itself--it was the lack of communication and customer service. Throughout the entire situation, no one came back to provide updates, apologize directly, or offer a meaningful resolution. In fact, my server never spoke to me directly about the issue after realizing there had been a problem; I learned my meal had been removed from the bill through another member of our party. Mistakes happen in every restaurant, especially on a busy night. What leaves a lasting impression is how those mistakes are handled. Unfortunately, while the food we did receive was good, the customer service fell well short of what I expected.
