Such a lovely bar with free tapas! My friend and I stopped by Saturday night around 10:30 and it was packed. There's only one outdoor table; the rest of the seating is inside, so depends on your luck whether you can snag a spot. Luckily for us, there was one empty table inside. I got a glass of white wine for 3.70€ and my friend had a small beer for 2.60€. With each of our wine orders, you can order a small dish from the menu. It was nice having the option to choose, since most of the other bars I went to didn't give you a choice. The menu has a good selection of meat, seafood, and vegetarian options. I was already full at this point from bar/tapas hopping, but my friend got the chicken in spicy Thai sauce and really enjoyed it. Great tapas spot! Line goes fairly quickly. British guy behind the bar moves fast, food was yummy and decent portions. Deducting one star because the white wine was listed as dry and it was sweet (and awful). They am open 8pm - 2am Sundays, Wednesdays and Thursdays; 8pm - 3am Fridays and Saturdays. They are closed Mondays and Tuesdays. CASH ONLY! If you are not sitting/standing at the bar, please self service (get your own drinks and food when it's ready; clear your own tables when you are done). Onto the food and drinks, their ciders dry apple and pear were a great option if you don't want to get tipsy too fast. They have a great variety of beers and wines which seems well curated. For our free tapas, we got the chicken livers, chicken in coconut sauce with polenta and the piri piri pork stew. Urgh the food is so delicious, flavorful and a little kick of spice. The food menu is small but the dishes are well made. Our favorite was the chicken livers. I hate chicken livers; it's irony and if not cooked well, it can get tough and chewy and irony, not the most pleasant. This chicken liver is the best chicken liver I had in my entire life and I had the chicken liver on toast at the Spotted Pig. If you love a little kick to your food, the slight fragrance of cilantro and the smoothness of chicken pate or foie gras, you have to HAVE TO get this dish. If you came to Granada and did not have this dish, you missed out!! Order drinks and get tapas and get a racion of your favorite dish. Also this is a mom and pop restaurant, don't expect blazing fast service like the tapas restaurant in the touristy spots where they churn out customers for volume. Can't say enough about this place! Loved it so much we came back multiple times in our time in Granada. As is typical of many bars in Granada, each drink order comes with a tapa. But at Poë, the tapas are seriously out of this world delicious. Some of our favorites being the spicy pork stew, skewers, chicken in coconut sauce and polenta, and the chicken in spicy thai sauce. But perhaps the biggest draw of this place are the delightful husband-wife team who run the joint. They are so incredibly friendly and welcoming, and even recognized us when we came back for the second time a few days later. The place can get crazy packed, and seems to be a good mix of locals, ex-pats, and tourists. A great place to stop by if you want a change of pace from your typical Spanish tapas, grab some affordable drinks, enjoy some delicious food, and to hang out in a super friendly/cozy joint. read more

This place was so good that my friend and I had to go here two nights in a row just so we could eat and drink the amazing food and beer again. The ambiance of this small, hole in the wall bar is welcoming, warm and loving. My friend and I were unsure of what to order on the menu our first night so the owner surprised us with some of the best tapas of our whole vacation. The owner was exceptionally kind and you can wholeheartedly feel the dedication to running your own bar. It has a locals vibe as many people were meeting up to catch up, or even just read a book over a beer. Poe is one of my favorite tapas bars in Granada. All bars will give you a free tapas with your drink, but Poe has the best options and you can choose which one you want! The owners are amazing and work each night so be sure to talk with them. The first time I came here was 9 years ago when I studied abroad in Granada and I was happy to see they were still open. You can probably order at least 5 tapas and 2 drinks and it'll still come out less than €13. We tried a chicken pineapple skewer and rice, chicken with thai sauce which was tasty. We ordered every single tapas on the menu. Would highly recommend this place as it's cheap and you get good value food which is also quite delicious. My fav two tapas are - spicy pork stew - spicy chicken in Thai sauce I might be biased cus I am keen on spicy food but we did order these two twice. You get one free tapas with one drink order. Poë is a must do in Granada. Per the norm in the city, each drink you buy comes with a tapa, however in Poë you choose from a menu of set dishes. The tapas is much different from the Spanish norm, so it's good for a change - would recommend the Thai chicken and coconut chicken as the two best, with the pork stew with rice also being terrific. The owner/barman is English, speaks both Spanish and English, and manages the service in the bar very well, considering it's just him and it's always busy! It's quite a small bar and can feel quite crowded with students from all over the world, however, stopping here for a few drinks and sampling their tapas is a must do when in Granada! read more

Very much enjoyed the experience at Poe. Poe is one of my favorite artists/musicians so I just came here on a whim. My husband and I met up with a few friends, ordered some drinks that came with one tapa each. The flavors were interesting, I recommend the vegetables as well as the bean dish but I can't remember what it was called. Cute little place and I really appreciate the bartender giving me the lowdown on ordering sangria properly. Here is a helpful tip when ordering sangria- it's more common of the people in Granada to call it Tinto Vino! You do what you want but the bartender gave me that tip in particular. read more

I mean do i really have to explain how good the food is here? We just keep on ordering and everytime i swear it tasted better and this is just for 2 people! Just FYI this place is ran by a very friendly couple (angolan/Portuguese and British, inspired). Yummy tapas place in Granada! Not a cocktail bar, but have some good drinks like the honey rum and coke (my FAV) and tinto de verano that's made fresh (not bottled). Each drink comes with a complimentary tapa that you get to choose. The tapa menu is a bit small but everything tastes great. I recommend the Pica Pica if you like spicy, the Thai chicken curry, and the Pork stew. Still gotta try the pork skewer (my friends have told me those are good too). Poe was incredible, albeit hard to find. We originally asked lots of locals to help us out with directions and got so turned around it was unbelievable. When we finally found it there was a sign that said it was closed for another day for a summer vacation. Luckily they were set to open the very next day, so we went back and crossed our fingers that the sign was correct. Like many have said this is an international tapas experience in Granada. The food (besides the gratis culture of Granada, and the portion size) was not Spanish in nature at all. I imagine after being in Spain for a very long time as an expat this is a huge perk. We weren't at all sick of Spanish food, but we were still excited for Brazilian inspired dishes none-the-less. Menu wise, Poe is different than most tapas joints because you can actually select the tapas you'd like to accompany your drinks. We opted for a Black Bean & Pork Stew, Chicken livers (per the owners suggestion), a refreshing garbanzo salad and a Thai chicken dish. Overall my favorite was definitely the Black Bean & Pork stew, but the livers were a nice surprise as the heat and sauce melded well with the liver-y-ness that I'm not usually crazy about. I'd even order it again if ever in Granada eating at Poe. If you're looking for somewhere to grab something different, and a break from speaking Spanglish, definitely look Poe up! read more

The best tapas in SPAIN! The owners are a wonderful couple, one working in front of the house, the other working (magic) in the kitchen! The energy in Poë is palpable. Buzzing crowds looking for late night eats, or a copa, are all happy and loving life. This place is one of the best surprises I've ever had while traveling abroad. As with traditional tapas bars, your food comes complimentary with each drink you order, though it is possible to order extra dishes sans alcohol if you're feeling your limits and want to slow down on the booze a little. Unlike some spots, it's possible to have more than enough to both eat And drink without somehow feeling you've poured the entire contents of your wallet into your meal [not that I never do that, but cheap and good can be hard to find.] The place is run by a nice couple from out of town, as it were, so if you need a spot to chat with someone in English he'll cheerfully oblige while serving, though she stayed managing the kitchen while we were there- I understand this is standard. The drinks area reasonably simple- not a spot for complicated nonsense but the tinto verano was all I needed to keep me happy. The food is ridiculously delicious, though the menu is brief enough that I believe we had everything on it at least once. The feijoada brasiliera in particular was worth ordering more than once, it's an utterly fabulous bean and pork stew that I'd love to get my hands on a recipe for. I did ask, but was informed that if he told me, his wife'd kill him, so I'm out of luck. read more

HIGHLIGHTS *Great beer and tapas *Opened right at 8pm *Quiet enough for a good conversation and dinner around 8-9pm My family and I only had one night in Granada, and we were quite tired of Tapas from our trip, wanting something different. We had read some reviews that Poe doesn't always open on time, but it was open and ready for business when we got there at 8:05pm with several customers already there. We had a group of 6, so it was good that we got there early since there was only one table that would fit enough individuals in the corner. The place is relatively small (a few high tops or chairs that might fit groups of 2-4 comfortably), but it has a nice vibrancy. The bartender is quite friendly and although we didn't get an explanation of the free tapas with a beer, we knew from our reads of the reviews. The bar started to fill up as early as 8:30 becoming quite bustling toward the 9pm time (if you're interested in a quieter place to eat, drink, and converse). The beer was great, and there was a good selection. Good pricing when you consider that you get a free tapa with it. We went up to the bar to order--never felt like I had to wait an extremely long time, but keep in mind that we went earlier on in the evening. The tapas were excellent. Our favorites were the piri-piri and the thai chicken curry. We didn't find a tapa that we didn't like (and we tried all of them). Some of us also loved the liver dish, which was seasoned to perfection. We ended up getting a raciones of the ones we enjoyed the most since we were trying to have our dinner at the same time. Would highly recommend to anyone visiting! You can certainly have enough food for dinner, especially if you get there early enough. The decoration is typical for a bar but clearly has their own cultural influences at play (which is neat). But the food truly is excellent and some of the best that we've had on our trip. read more

Was in Granada for the weekend with a friend and all the reviews are right, this place is Beyond amazing. The food is insanely delicious, nice portions, seasoned and spicy (unlike most bland yet delicious Spanish food). I couldn't stop thinking about the food, so I came back the next day. Unfortunately the kitchen was closed but ended up talking with the owners Matthew and Anna until closing time and they made me feel at home. Great couple. Great food. Great atmosphere. Great concept and a nice change-of-pace while in Granada. The free tapas with every drink idea is the same, only the tapas are of an International flair and you get to choose them from a printed menu. Makes sense, the owner is (I believe) from the UK and his wife from Brazil. This is where all the expats and English speakers in the area flock to, I assume. Everybody at the bar was either speaking English, though a few Spanish groups rolled into Poe as well, or sunburnt. Or both. The gf and I got 2 drinks each and shared the 4 free tapas--Garbanzo Salad, Spicy Chicken Liver w/Cilantro, Brazilian Black Bean & Pork Stew (my fav), and Chicken in Thai Sauce. The Liver was the surprise of the night. I wouldn't have ordered it, but the owner suggested it and said it often proves the doubters wrong. He was right. The spicy sauce was particularly nice because Spanish food isn't typically spicy and we were missing that heat. All the dishes were solid, the service was great, definitely a spot to check out when you want to stray from the norm in Granada. But, to be honest, we quickly went back to Spanish tapas right after this and even picked up A TON of Jamon Iberico on our way home that night. read more
