    Tapas

Came here for tapas. You get one tapa per drink. We were seated in a back room with rustic and vintage decor. Service was quick, and prices reasonable.

So we're on a mission to try as many tapas places as possible in 5 days. This was one of our stops. We ordered our 1st round of drinks, a beer and a Tinto de Verano, they don't have Sangria. We received a plate of pan con tomate for each of us and one slice of sausage apiece. I love pan con tomate, so I was happy. The sausage was good as well, but I forgot to ask what it was. We ordered the Goat Cheese with Olive oil. It was different. I prefer goat cheese with something fruity, but it wasn't bad. It was served with a basket of bread and we were charged extra for that. We ordered another round of drinks, and waited for another tapa. We were then informed that they only offer one tapa as an appetizer to start. Not a tapa with each drink. Bummer. Most review commented on the free tapa tradition, so only commenting because this was our experience in 2025. What we did have was tasty though. Server was fine, but appeared to be the only one running in & out by himself. My drink was good as well. If you're looking for raciones, then I'd say go for it. Plenty of stuff on their menu to choose from. If you're looking to tapear, then perhaps go elsewhere.

Must go! Tapa's as you have not seen before. All fresh from local supply (as the claim theirselves)

I whiled away my last night in Grenada here at Taberna La Tana, which came recommended by Rick Steves' guide book and the late Anthony Bourdain. I found the wine selection and recommendations superb. I started with a tempranillo and syrah blend before switching to a wine that didn't hit the mark. When I asked for something drier, the waitress/sommelier, speaking in English, pored through the menu and selected a syrah from the Rhône instead for my second glass. The tomato and bread aperitif, served complimentary per Granada custom, was rich and decadent with oil. The shredded beef, peppery and oily, didn't look or feel shredded at all. Solid joint, but nothing I ate really blew my mind.

We are both big Bourdain fans and if he recommends a place we have to go . La Tana is everything you imagine a quaint Spanish bar would be like . Very rustic decor - shelves n shelves of wines, dried garlics , baskets of tomatoes - it was just the vibe I hoped for . I knew what I wanted but my hubby had a good convo with the hostess on what he prefers and she let him sample a few wines before he settled on one . It became his go-to wine for the rest of the trip . As is the norm in Granada they started us of with a Tapa and we ordered one on the side . Food for me was just OK but we weren't too hungry to try much else .The hostesses were efficient and knowledgeable and friendly for Spanish speaking folks . They were going and chatting with customers but alas for us the language was an issue. Great wines and great vibes -Highly recommended .

Anthony Bourdain came here when he did Parts Unknown and was with his cameraman who at the time was married to a Granadan. This unassuming wine bar has hundreds of wines on offer. Saunter up and ask for a wine. Wait awhile and you will be given a free tapa. If your hungry order the tapas anyways! There is an Iberian ham sampler and fried cheese. Both exquisite. The waitress have a sommelier's knowledge about the wines they serve.

Amazing tapas experience here. First off, the decor is super cute, dark and cozy. The lady managing the bar was so receptive and gave me great suggestions based on my taste. This was the one tapas place that let you taste your drink before committing to it. I enjoyed a glass of refreshing semi- sweet white wine followed by a great cava. The tapas! I appreciate that they don't start you off with puny ones. My first tapa was an avocado toast. Medium size. Well made with fresh ingredients. My second one was smoked fish on a piece of bread. So delicious and it came in nice portion. On top of this, I decided to get the hot goat cheese with olive oil. Amazing! I did not know goat paired so well with olive oil. Didn't realize til afterwards that this place was famous (Bourdain, Rick Steves). Either way they prove their worth in their service and the delicious food. I'm already planning to return tonight to get more tapas.

Tapa: bread with some type of creamy tomato sauce and smoked fish

Considering this place was almost at capacity 10 minutes after opening, we were lucky to snag the last 2 bar stools inside this cozy magical tavern of goodness. Like it's sister restaurant, La Botillería, they let you sample the wines before committing to a full class. I've been on a rose kick since I've been in Spain, so I kept it going with a sparkling cava rose and my friend went with a dry, white wine. Both were delicious. Yeah, we had 3 glasses each, so you know it was good. As with other tapas joints around Granada, you get one free tapa with each drink. We started with some bread and tomato with a side of salame and olives. It was bomb. Our second tapas was probably the best. I think it was foie gras spread on some toast with a small slice of fig. It was truly magnificent. Our last tapa was bread with some type of tomato based cream sauce and some smoked fish. I have no clue what it was, but I enjoyed it. We also ordered the hot goat cheese with olive oil and bread from their menu and it was truly life changing. The goat cheese spread across the crisped toast and then dipped in olive oil. I love this place. Since there was no stopping our carb overload, we ordered the dessert sampler for 2. Holy smokes was it good. There was 6 pieces of 3 types of dessert; raspberry topped cheesecake, flan type covered brownie and a cream puff type thing. It was the perfect ending to a great meal. The amazing gentleman working there was so kind and took great care of every patron inside. We're probably going back tomorrow night too, it's that good.

Free tapa with drink order. Bartender allowed me to try a few wines before I committed!
    Stephanie S.

Pretty close to an excellent experience! I think it would've been better IF it were less busy and I spent a little more time there. :) I don't think the bartender spoke English, but he let me try a few wines before settling on one. I'm pretty sure there aren't any bars here that would allow patrons to do that...unless you're at a pricey sitdown restaurant and are guaranteed to order something. One free "tapa" came with a drink order. It was simple, but much appreciated. I also observed the bartender serving plates of jamon, so that option is available here as well.

If Anthony Bourdain says you have to come here and you're in Granada, you come here. So we did, and it was awesome. Tiny place but great cozy vibe. The bartender (and owner maybe?) was friendly, attentive and humble. He noticed we were tourists so he let us know he doesn't speak very good English then proceeded to speak it flawlessly haha :) This is a wine bar so you just say red or white and bold or mild and he will do the rest... and delicious free tapas will follow. We had 2 glasses of red each, olives, white sausage, guac/tomato on bread and foi gras with pomegranates on bread. If there was a place like this in Toronto they would know me very well. We also met a nice couple from Montreal while there.

    Free tapa with drinks

Came to visit on the high recommendation of yelp and TripAdvisor - both are usually spot on but I have to admit I was a bit disappointed overall. The wine selection and vib of the busy place was great but I thought the food was average at best overall. The foie, tomato and anchovy tapas were delicious. The iberico ham was what one would expect, but the herring tapas was too salty (compared with ones I had in past), the pickled mussels was bland, and the tomato tapa was average tasting. Seems to have limited hot tapas to choose from - maybe it would be great if I was just looking for a quick bite with a drink before dinner, but for a dinner experience I left a bit disappointed.

Free tapas with our glass of wine! These garden fresh tomatoes are amazing!!!

La Tana was our first stop on our tapas crawl in Granada, Spain. This small, but welcoming tapas bar was the perfect spot to start our tapas crawl! The bar offers over 400 bottles of Spanish wines. I'm not very familiar with Spanish wine, but I know I love Chianti and Cabernet so the friendly owner/bartender, Jesus, helped us select an excellent bottle of red wine from the Rioja region to try. The wine he chose for us was fantastic! Granada is one of the few cities that offers a free tapa with your purchase of a glass of wine or beer. Shortly after we received our glasses of wine the bartender handed us a plate of tapas. I knew about the tapas tradition, but I was not expecting to receive such a generous portion. Our free tapas included garden fresh tomatoes served over a baguette, olives and dried sausage. The food was so simple, yet so fresh and tasty. The selection of the free tapas depends on whatever the kitchen is serving so if you want something different than (or in addition to) your free tapas you can purchase tapas of your choice from the menu. The menu is limited since the kitchen is so small, but they carry a nice selection of cheeses and dried meats. Had we stayed longer I was considering trying the dry blood sausage that Anthony Bourdain raved about on "Parts Unknown". I could have stayed at La Tana all afternoon drinking glass after glass of the fantastic wine selection, but all of the seats were taken and we wanted to sit after walking around the Alhambra all morning. As we were leaving, Jesus handed me a business card to his sister tapas bar, La Botilleria. He told us that La Botilleria had a bigger kitchen and offered a larger selection of hot and cold tapas. If you are looking for a tapas bar with an excellent selection of wine I highly recommend La Tana!

Tapas and an amazing and reasonably priced wine...
    Melissa G.

I am shocked that I have not already reviewed this wonderful establishment!!! Rick Steves and Anthony Bourdain knew what they were talking about when they both recommended La Tana. It is everything you imagined a good tapas bar in Granada Spain ought to be. Filled with a huge array of wines to choose from a friendly and knowledgeable staff, and much of the time standing room only! This is a busy, noisy and fun spot, Filled with locals out for an evening glass of wine, students from the local university, and tourists from around the world. We were in Granada for only three days and had so much to see and do, but We made it back to La Tana several times for fantastic Rioja and amazing(free with the wine) tapas. I was traveling with a Sommelier and he was there each of the three nights we were in town! The male bartender who was there both Friday and Saturday nights, was particularly knowledgeable and willing to take the time to discuss the wines. Seriously if you're only able to make it to one tapa bar in Granada this is the one you don't want to miss!

I booked this experience through AirBnb Experiences (highly recommend checking the experiences in any city where you're traveling). When scrolling through the options this caught my eye as I am a big fan of low-intervention (aka natural) wines and Al Sur carries some Spanish wines I've enjoyed here in the states (shout-out to Golden Hour Wine in Orlando!). The shop is on Elvira Street and surrounded by small Middle Eastern restaurants. We loved the walk to the shop. Once there, Jessica greeted us and we sat at a large communal table to start our tasting experience. Jessica was a WONDERFUL host and the wine and bites we tried were some of our favorites on our entire trip. This tasting was a true highlight and I'd HIGHLY recommend it. They also have other great tasting experiences with various types of local food. One thing you must get if you're there is their locally-sourced butter. This butter was unlike anything I've ever tried before. It almost tasted of yogurt. I wish we would have been able to bring some home to the States, but while we were there we made sure to have plenty of it! Guillermo was at the counter and also helped us with some purchases of olive oil and pastries after the tasting. Overall, this is a spot that cannot be missed on your next Andalucian trip. It created memories we'll hold on to forever! (And we had some really great wine!!)
