This is a great bank to go to through claustrophobic as the entrance opens to into a very wide and large area! I am not a customer of Chase Bank. However, my mother-in-law who is, wrote me a check, payable to…read morecash, to pay for takeout last week. I went into Chase to cash this check. Things started well, I was waiting in line and another employee stepped up to open and handle my transaction. I passed my endorsed check across and he asked me to put in my debit card. I told him I was not a customer of the bank and was here to cash a check drawn on a Chase account. He then told me that, they would be charging $8- to cash a $42- check. I asked to speak with the manager. He said he was the manager. I protested the charge. "I've come to Chase to cash a check drawn on a Chase account." Why should there be a charge? He then told me that the charge was not coming up and put the $42- on the counter. He then asked for my identification. I provided my driver's license and asked if that was a Federal or Chase Bank requirement, to provide identification for a check payable to cash. He stated it was a bank requirement acting for the Federal Government. I repeated back to him that this request then, was a Chase Bank request and not a federal request. He claimed then they were protecting their customers. I stated that I am not his customer and unlikely to become one with these types of treatment and policies. I left the bank with my money, but having had a completely negative experience with Chase. I will either deposit any such future checks and wait for them to clear or not accept my mother-in-law's offers to pay for takeout. I do not understand how a bank which presumably values their customers, would treat a non customer and potential client, so rudely.

The people who work there are always in a good mood, nice and helpful. My dog even gets excited when we go through the drive thru teller because he knows he will get a dog treat! They have convenient hours, an indoor and drive thru ATM (open 24/7) as well as a drive thru teller that stays open after the bank closes (with three car lanes). Inside they also have a coin counting machine. The best part about banking here are the people who work here. They are friendly and engaging beyond "hi, how are you, how can I help you". Over time we have come to get to know and develop a relationship with many of the people who work there. It is a welcoming and friendly business to walk into, where you know and trust the people you are dealing with. The managers have also been helpful with account issues and dealing with fees. My favorite teller is Anthony, he is so fun and engaging, we love running into him out and about in town! :)

I approached the unoccupied platform officer's desk and was met by a harried look and a question "what do you need?" and then she quickly told me to "wait over there". I have money in that account that I can't use and it is stopping me from being able to build my credit. I called them in the beginning of December to ask what the issue was and they didn't properly file for my card. Then I called again to ask when I would get it after they fixed the issue and they said it would be coming in less than a week, two weeks ago. I am beyond frustrated and I deeply regret my decision of becoming one of their customer, it is the worst service I have ever experience. Their online banking is absolutely horrible and makes no sense and is totally out of whack. You cannot download your transactions into Excel and have to use .csv and when you do, not all of the transactions are there and lots are missing. Their door in Orange, NJ says open Sundays 11 - 2 but the OTHER does says closed on Sundays.....well which is? Some clarification would be appreciated.
