There's no Times Square characters busking for money, instead, the streets are lined with restaurant extensions, roasting pigs, wine samples, and the crooning sounds of wonderful opera and folk Italian singers. It feels like how I grew up. Loud, but not obnoxious, crowded but not suffocating, and most importantly, authentic. The food is to die for and many of the local business do samples. Admission was free and there was a $15 ($11 online) fee for parking. There was a short parking lot entry wait when I arrived at around 2pm on a Saturday. After scanning your parking pass, you are then directed to park on the (mostly gravel) parking lot. From there, it is a short walk across the parking lot to the entrance. Security does a quick check on bags before allowing you in. Lots to eat and drink here with a variety of food trucks on site, as well as lots of beer as expected. The food prices range from $8 snacks to $15 meals. Beer ranged from a $7 cup to $20 refillable mug to $30+ refillable stein. The lines can be long at times so plan ahead. I'd expect earlier visits would shorten those wait times significantly. One worker did mention that due to a weak wifi signal in that area, the credit card readers were taking very long to complete transactions. It took me about 3 tries and 5 minutes to pay for my beer. There were a few activities like cornhole, jenga, axe throwing (fee) and live music. There were also some kids activities (bouncy house)...not sure if there was a fee for that.

It's an event that started on Wednesday and finishes up on Sunday. There are many rides lots of food and a lot of fun to be had. Entertainment was provided by various bands and local gymnasts. There's plenty of police presence due to the large crowds. There are plenty of Porta Johns and this is the largest I have seen this festival since I last attended 15-20 years ago. Prices from the vendors are a tad high due to the fact that their income is very variable. I had a sausage sandwich with peppers and onions which set me back $8. Water at most stands were $1. Sandwich was tasty after putting on some "heat". Afterwards I indulged in a kiddie ice cream cone $4, much needed to cool me off. What I did not see at this festival was a hands-on section for all. Tickets for the rides were $25 for 24 tix or $50 for 54 tix. The average ride was 3 to 4 tickets. There was plenty of parking though you were urged to donate $1 to the police explorers ( who are they?) The only major problem at this festival were the exits. There were no signs saying how to exit the site, so that took a some time to explore. Maybe that $1 donation will ease the problem next summer. 3 & one half stars.

Many artisans and food vendors or all sorts. Art. Jewelry. Clothes. Fun stuff. Very very reasonably priced. Musicians playing. The street fair goes for blocks and blocks. There is a great variety of vendors and they are organized in a way that they are all mixed in as you walk along. The quality of the vendors is fantastic.

It was a beautiful evenng to walk through this very magical place. Amazing characters and animals. Did yu know that many of the characters come from local students who then send in their submissions and some of them are brought to life with animation and color. It's all about imagination and collaboration. I can't recommend this venue enough to bring your children and grandchildren. They will be mesmerized, by the characters, color and light around them. This is also a photo paradise for families. There are just so many opportunities here where to point your camer (or phone.) KUDOs to the team here at Eisenhouwer Park and Luminocity.
