    Beautiful vineyard !

We had a great experience at PlumpJacks. We walked up and were warmly greeted. Tim was a great host. Informative and friendly. The grounds are lovely. The Chardonnay was very good.

Okay, so I really enjoyed my visit to Plumpjack winery. Can I just start with, they have great red wine! My visit was an impromptu weekday visit, whilst looking at real estate. We walked into a quiet tasting area. There was one other group of folks from Minnesota. It started off quiet, as did the gentlemen pouring our tastings. I see the reviews mentioning "attitudes." I sensed a bit of a nonchalant attitude at first, but folks, perhaps this is because these people are bombarded with tourists and drunk people wine tasting from all over the damn world LOL. We struck up a conversation with the gentleman helping us and he was great. Maybe, just maybe you have to be personable to get a engaged response- people are so "me, me, me" these days. Treat people the way you would like to be treated. Anywho, my tasting experience was great. The wine is fab. We picked up a bottle of the 2017 Cade Estate Cab,Howell Mountain and what a fabulous bottle of wine! I will most definitely return to Plumpjack. I look forward to my next visit.

So I'm at governor Newsom's winery in Napa, so if anybody wants me to ask him something, if he happens to come through let me know.

So listen, I haven't written a post about anything in quite some time. I'm at Plumpjack winery, Gavin Newsom's winery. And I have to tell you, the wine here is exceptionally good. The staff here very knowledgeable very friendly. The ambience is wonderful. Don't believe any negative hype about the winery, this winery is one of the better wineries that I've been to in quite some time. It's a smaller winery off the beaten path but like I said, it's very soothing and relaxing. Don't sleep on this winery, if you're Napa come through.

    Plumpjack!

No good. Terribly over priced and very snooty. Wine is no good and just spews corporate greed. The servers and bussers were nice though.

While working in St. Helena, I could never find an opening in a reservation, so here was a great opportunity now that all of us are retired. Our friends live in Clear Lake while we live in Vallejo, so this is a central place to meet. It was the best decision I made because every year for the past several anniversaries, we've gone to Cache Creek to C2. Their food and service is excellent because my husband enjoys poker, but I thought a change of scenery would be nice. And it was! Firstly, it was very kind of the staff to present us with a greeting card signed by everyone -- how sweet and thoughtful! We will cherish that! Secondly, we were very impressed with how the food/wine was locally sourced. It was incredible to hear the story about Custom, the Bull, and taste the difference between the Highland beef compared to Angus. Our waitress was "Erica S." She was engaging, personable, and very informative. My husband and I would definitely like to return to return to experience the dinner menu! We and our guests had the following dishes: Artichoke appetizer Arbororio Biscuits & Gravy Two Cheeseburgers Three Bloody Mary's Farmstead Margarita When they found out it was our anniversary celebration, the house sent over four glasses of complimentary champagne and a dish of dessert -- again, very sweet and kind of them I now understand why so many crowds flock to this restaurant! It's well worth the wait! If you have not experienced a meal there, you must definitely go now!

I was really excited to try this restaurant for the first time, especially for Mother's Day, and…read morewhile the food itself was excellent, the overall experience was disappointing enough that I would not return. From the beginning, there seemed to be constant miscommunication between staff. We specifically booked an outdoor reservation and were seated inside instead. While mistakes happen, it set the tone for the rest of the evening. The bigger issue involved the wine and corkage fee. We purchased a bottle directly from the market associated with the restaurant and were told by the employee there that the corkage fee would be waived if we bought their wine. When we sat down, our server Sara told us that was not true and that we would still have to pay the fee. I explained what we had been told, and when she asked if I wanted a manager involved, I said yes. Before the manager even arrived or clarified the situation, the server opened our bottle of wine. In the silence and confusion, I reasonably assumed the fee issue had been resolved. Then the manager came over and told us we would still be charged and implied that nobody at the market would have told us otherwise. The way it was handled made my husband and I feel like we were being accused of making the whole thing up, which was especially upsetting on Mother's Day. At that point, the bottle was already opened, so we were essentially stuck paying the fee regardless. Between being seated incorrectly, the poor communication between employees, and how dismissive the situation felt, the service completely overshadowed what should have been a special meal. The rest of the service we felt ignored and there was minimal effort to accommodate. Great food alone is not enough to justify returning when the hospitality experience feels this frustrating and unprofessional.

We were very impressed with their location that comprised a two story (maybe three) building that you had to access via steep flight of stairs to a lovely deck that you inside to the gorgeous tasting room. The spectacular view overlooking the vast number of vineyards across the Silverado Trail only enhanced the experience of being there, taking in the gorgeous weather that comprised blue skies and warm vibes. Inside there were some lovely booth lounge and table seating. I appreciated the groovy guitars encased and hung against one of the walls. To access the main cave where we would have our tasting, we walked through the back area where we passed by the windowed area that the massive fermentation tanks were located. Entering the cave was magical with purple dimmed lighting and candles lit on the large wooden table and on the other boudoir. Our guide did a tremendous job explaining the wines and the stories behind them. We enjoyed a pour straight from the barrel while walking through the various caves housing the barrels aging the wine. The experience was wonderful and wools go back in a heartbeat after having pours of the Oracle, Oakville Cab, and Stagecoach Merlot amongst the treasures that we enjoyed such as the 2013 Stagecoach Cab. Before the tasting, we had a tour of the grounds, where we learned about the wine-making process, storage, and grape cultivation. The facility was exceptionally clean, which I was pleasantly surprised by. I don't think they would offer tours if the facilities weren't up to par. Back in the room with the long dining table, we were served charcuterie boards that complemented the wine. Although I'm more of a beer guy, I couldn't resist the allure of the wine. As one after the other wines improved, my wife and I decided to buy a bottle as a memento. We ended up getting the Rubicon, which we'll save for 25 years. We plan to return to get a more aged Rubicon so we can share this experience with our family. However, our host (the birthday girl) made a mistake and forgot to update the headcount. As a result, the bill was slightly higher than expected. If I were a member of the service staff, I would have politely informed them of the error and insisted on a refund. The caves are unlike any I have been in before where they are usually rustic. These are beautifully decorated and all kinds of art. I would have liked to see more of the caves but they just have the dercorated section open for these tours. The barrel tasting was great and surprisinly all their wines are pretty drinkable right out of the barrell I suppose because they dont have much tannins so they dont need alot of tiem to mellow. I liked most of them but at $250 a botttle I felt they were way overpriced compared to other high end Napa area wines we are familiar with. After the cave tour they sit inside and you get to try several more wines so we had plenty to drink. I was not expecting a full size pizza for the two of us we already had lunch plan right after so we took most of it with us.
