Life-savers! I did not know where to go or what to do with the random number of malfunctions of my…read morebody. Two of my specialists mentioned the word rheumatoid condition. So I took that and ran with it and found Shanahan rheumatology. I liked this one because a a practitioner not a franchise, put their name on it. To me, that's an ownership and accountability. They are willing to stake their name on it, which means they are confident in their assessment, treatment, and outcomes Location is easy to get to, ample parking, and the waiting room is quiet, calm with a professional, kind, and knowledgeable staff. She's very humble, but I I have saved the best for last because I know she's very humble, but I would be remiss not to mention Dr. Sairya. I have never been to a doctor so caring, so thorough, and kind. We talked over my various symptoms and she ordered a panel of tests which which identified the culprit. She then had the whole picture and began our regimen of recovering out of an acute phase of a yes damn my aim well-being patient log She tested again to determine the accuracy of that number, and it did show up again the same way so then she was able to make a plan to treat me. This kind of diagnosis is chronic, so there's no curing it. The fact that there is a physician of her caliber gives me great confidence that my condition will be managed so that I will have a better quality of life. I am completely grateful to this medical practice that demonstrates what healthcare should look like.

I was a patient at Shanahan Rheumatology for approximately seven years. During that time, I became…read moreincreasingly concerned about the practice's communication, care coordination, and responsiveness to patient concerns. I received conflicting information from different providers and staff members regarding my treatment plan. Over the period two physician assistants offered contradictory recommendations, a staff nurse provided guidance that conflicted with the PA's instructions. When I sought clarification, my questions were not adequately addressed, and I was unable to obtain clear, consistent guidance regarding my care. I also attempted to raise concerns through the patient portal, but those efforts proved frustrating and unproductive. In some instances, the information provided appeared inconsistent with FDA recommendations. I was never given the opportunity to discuss these concerns directly with Dr. Shanahan. In fact, after my initial visit, I never saw him again. Rather than addressing my concerns, I ultimately received a letter from Dr. Shanahan terminating the physician-patient relationship. Based on my experience, the quality of communication, continuity of care, and patient support declined significantly during my years with the practice and fell well below the standard of care I had come to expect.

He listens to your history and is able to suggest healthful changes to your diet while being sensitive to your needs. I have been reading about many detoxification diets lately and realize that completely transforming to the Ayurvedic way is not my goal; however, I was able to learn about my "dosha" and tune into what my body will benefit from. With that, I plan to incorporate a new diet regime influnced by Ayurveda, along with some meditative practices, thanks to Dr. Edwards. He is also a gifted and creative chef who has mastered the art of blending and fusing spices. His goal is to help his patients actually rebuild their strength, correct patterns, and get back to functioning, maybe even much better functioning, than before by incorporating exercises/ physical therapy into his work with you. His office is very nice and the front office person was also helpful. Highly recommend!

I am thoroughly impressed by her breadth of knowledge and just how many routine procedures she can do in office, that typically in the past would have required visits to multiple practices. (Sigh...) I needed…read morehelp. I *love* to walk/hike/stroll/ambulate, but my knees have been saying "No more!" (...and barely in my '60's, I'm WAY too young for that!) Chiropractic didn't work. Arch supports merely relocated the pain. Western medicine? Please. No. It looked as if I was going to need a visit to an orthopedist... ...until my wife suggested I try acupuncture first. (Disclaimer: I'd never had acupuncture - didn't believe it could work. Thought it was malarkey. Saw my uncle's "Smoking cessation" visits fail miserably in New Jersey.) That said, the idea of surgery didn't appeal to me at all, so I thought I'd give acupuncture a shot. All of the Yelp reviews for Dr. Chen were over the top. ...every one was 5 stars. What's more, they all claimed significant results in just ONE treatment. (No way, I continued to think...) I went with some trepidation, and absolutely NO confidence that it could work. ...and here I am, giving Dr. Chen 5 stars. (...and I don't give that 5th star easily!) I showed up on a Friday afternoon, after another week on my feet (teaching 6th grade). I hurt! When he met me in the waiting room, he invited me to follow him to his treatment room. He walked briskly (like I used to.) I could not keep up. After a fairly thorough work-up (did I mention he also practiced Western medicine for more than 30 years?), he had me hop up on the table and plugged the needles in. Three on the left, one on the right. A little discomfort, but that was all. He connected a little electricity, adjusted the feed, and asked if I wanted some soothing sounds (Yes please, thank you...). He gave me a button to push if I needed him, turned down the lights and left me... for about an hour. By the time he got back, the sun had set - and truthfully, I'd begun to wonder if he'd forgotten me and gone home!) After unplugging me and taking the needles out, I stepped out into the hall... where he met me, and ushered me (again at that brisk pace) to his desk. This time I could keep up! On Saturday and again on MLK Monday, I got to go to the gym for the first time in almost 18 months. No pain, no worries! On Tuesday i started to feel the very beginning of an ache, but that afternoon I had my follow-up visit with him, and this time was only connected for 30 minutes. (I remained pain-free throughout this week, and have worked out twice since.) At the end of that 2nd visit, Dr. Chen said he thought I was good to go, and didn't need another appointment. ...and so to the Yelpers that preceded me here - Greg F., Jennifer S., and Veronica S. - I'm sorry I doubted you! Dr. Chen really IS the real deal!

Her lack of attention to details of my health issues and concerns as she treated me over the past year was appalling. She put me on an extremely high toxic dose of T3 thyroid medicine that has made me extremely ill. I was never informed of what to watch for in the way of reactions (to this med or any of the many supplements she had me take). There is another Yelp review where the same thing was done to another patient. I also received almost no guidance or support in the process of tapering off the meds. I had to pay $25 to ask medical questions. Her answers were always to suggest something I was already taking or something I had already told her I couldn't take as if my chart wasn't even checked. I did not find her care 'integrative'. There was no talk of mind, spirit, or nervous system regulation. No checking with symptoms. Everything was based on $$$$ in labs which were treated with $$$$ in supplements. Her focus was pushing energy when what my system needed was gentle support and nurture.
