I called Longmont Public Safety chief, Mike Butler, concerning this issue, and he wasn't helpful AT ALL. I told him my dog doesn't like to squat when she pees--she likes to lift her leg, and I needed to know that she is free to pee at the fire hydrant of her choice, without fear of discrimination. Mr. Butler said that as far as he knew, Longmont TREES were transgender, so what was the problem? Mr. Butler didn't give a rip about equal rights for dogs to use the fire hydrant of their choice, regardless of gender identity.

I was greeted by a friendly hostess before starting the 5K loop around the Canyon Loop Trail. No bikes allowed Wednesday and Saturday. With close proximity to Boulder, it's a crowded trail, and bikes would represent something of a challenge for those hikers not fleet of foot. But I bet it's a fun mountain bike track!

Not to mention, picnic tables near some of the trail heads. This area is open for use sun rise to sunset. Sorry, no campers permitted. The best days to go as a hiker or horseback rider are Wednesday and Saturdays (when bikes are not allowed on the trail). When visiting on the other days definitely watch your back (and this is where the three star removal comes in). I was visiting the morning of the 4th to give the good old walk jog routine a spin (having recently improved mobility), and boy did it feel good to get out. There are "right of way" signs sprinkled throughout the preserve. While about 10% of the bikers actually bothered to slow down or yield for me (these were the families and older bikers) most I had to physically jump out of the way of. If you've been here you know the trails can be narrow in some spots. So tree hugging, slope slipping, and ankle busting I did, just to avoid being collided into by a rowdy biker. It was really quite upsetting as we all have the same goal - being outside and moving around in nature. I'll definitely be back but will make my best attempt to go on the non-bike days.

The Harbeck house had been the home of the Boulder History Museum until fairly recently when the acquired the former Masonic Lodge downtown and morphed into the current Museum of Boulder which is far more comprehensive than this space allowed. If you visit the new Museum, you can see why. Also this property on the Hill is in the middle of a residential neighborhood near campus and parking is scarce. Downtown, there are multiple parking garages to accommodate the visitors. This building is now the headquarters for Women's Wilderness, which leases it from the city. They have a good mission too, so stop in and see what they have to offer.

The opposing team,…read moredespite being well ahead, played aggressively: shoving, yelling, and purposely fouling players. Several players weren't wearing shin guards, despite posted rules. A female player was hit hard in the head. She was visibly wobbly and holding her head, and although she said she was "OK," proper concussion protocol requires that any player with a head injury come out immediately. The game continued with no intervention, which was unsafe and unacceptable. I didn't have fun and regret spending my time here. I felt unsafe and unwelcome, and I will not be returning. Recreational sports should prioritize safety, enforce equipment rules, and ensure referees stop play when injuries occur.

Lots of snottiness (an attitude that hasn't quite matured to full-blown arrogance) around the grounds. For the price, the limited amenities offered, and the silly attitudes, our money and our recommendation (not!) will go elsewhere.

We've been involved with the club for many years, and it is a great spot in Boulder. The pool is super nice and well maintained and the 20 or so tennis courts (including 2 clay courts and 3 indoor courts) are fantastic and well maintained. My only small complaint is that the restrooms/changing areas should be upgraded, and there should be a snack bar. But overall, a great swim and tennis club in Boulder.

Iv gone to this park often but recently it's went completely down hill in the worst ways possible…read more Probably the worst thing is the fact the big gates to the parking lot are always closed unless there is a game. This was not a big deal because it had the side lot open pretty much all day. Well because of the new apartments bring built next to the park they completely fenced the parking area off making it impossible to park close to the park. It's pretty stupid. I parked in the main lot the other day to run because the gates were open and the park closes when it gets dark. Apparently the guy was looking for me for hours so he could shut and lock the gates. This is ridiculous just have an open lot all day. The park is also trashed for the most part and it's weird since they have a whole team of people who work here. I uploaded just a few pictures showing the garbage, it's pretty gross. I actually held back on doing this review as I thought they were fixing up the place but it just got worse. Another horrible thing this place does is spray pesticides around all their trees and fences so weeds don't grow. I hope everyone knows how cancer inducing that is to your dogs and children. I would honestly say to avoid letting your dogs sniff the trees and fences I know it's their favorite but iv gone on walks and just saw them spraying it on heavy. Iv had days were the whole park smelled like it. It's not really a friendly park to anything organic. Overall I'd recommend avoiding this park.

Central Park is a great park. It hosts many events such as the Boulder farmers market and other…read moreholiday themed events. It also houses the band stand clam shell which also is very accommodating when it comes to free shows and concerts. Since the Boulder creek runs through this park, it is very prone to flooding and has been shut down several times. I like this park for its central location, being that its next to the library and that one can take the walking/biking path that will connect to to many different parts of the city.
