Welcome to Plaza Pueblo Antiguo, a place that's kinda like Disneyland... if Disneyland had a flea market, tequila shots, live banda music, and really aggressive souvenir stands all within 100 feet of each other.
You've got bars, lounges, and mysterious tour booths where a guy named Jorge promises you'll "see whales... maybe." There's live music too, bc nothing says 'authentic cultural experience' like a guy on a mic singing over a backing track of "La Bamba" while wearing aviators indoors.
Your cruise shuttle drops you off here, probably because it's the only place with decent bathrooms, shade, and enough margaritas to sedate an entire bachelor party.
Souvenirs? Oh, they've got souvenirs!!! Want a poncho with a wolf on it? A magnet shaped like a taco? Check and check!!! It's all here, ready to be purchased last minute before you get herded back onto your shuttle like hungover livestock.
The real MVP here:Â The WiFi!!!! No password, no login, just beautiful, glorious, free internet!!! You can post that blurry selfie with a churro on Yelp.
*But remember to keep your phone on airplane mode.
Overall, would absolutely return. It's the perfect spot to kill time before the shuttle back. Shuttles come every 10 minutes, which is just enough time to buy more magnets for your fridge collection of every place you've ever traveled to. read more
