I must say it was not always smooth sailing, but no place is perfect. My professors held me accountable for doing my part, they are smart, dedicated and approachable. I have put in the work that my professors set out for me, as every student should, and accomplished what I set out to do. See for yourself, and remember this is a school that is preparing you to have a professional career, think critically and make wise choices In life, if this is not your goal then, this is not the school for you. Nursing is a vocation, it's not a walk in the park. With self discipline, hard work and perseverance you can have your degree at St. Paul's School of Nursing In several months.

As a current student, I feel it's important to share some concerns about the way this school treats…read moreits students. Recently, we received an email stating that students are not permitted to enter classrooms before the scheduled class time so that instructors can "prepare the learning environment." However, in reality, many professors arrive exactly at the start time or even after class is supposed to begin. Meanwhile, students are expected to stand in hallways or find somewhere else to go even when we arrive early after work to study. The only alternative spaces are the library or cafeteria, both of which have very limited seating. It feels unreasonable to pay out of pocket for an education and not even be allowed to sit in an empty classroom while waiting. We then received another email about elevator use, which is understandable for accessibility reasons. However, the message stated that misuse could result in parent/guardian contact. This is a school of adults, and many of us are parents ourselves. Including language like that clearly shows how little the administration thinks of its students and reinforces the feeling that we are treated like children rather than responsible adults paying for a professional education. Another major concern is the lack of respect and support from some faculty members. For example, Professor Jayne Kier is extremely unapproachable. Students feel uncomfortable asking questions because responses are often sarcastic, dismissive, or met with long, intimidating stares. There is little guidance provided, yet students are made to feel as though they are wrong for seeking help. This creates a stressful and discouraging learning environment. Lastly, it often feels like students cannot safely voice concerns. When issues are brought up to administration, they are dismissed as complaints rather than taken seriously even though many of us are committed, adult learners who care deeply about our education and future careers. It is incredibly disappointing to be treated this way as paying adult students. We invest our time, energy, and money into this program, yet we are treated as if we are receiving a free service and should simply accept it without question. The tone and treatment are not only disrespectful, they are humiliating.

I came and spoke to Ms. Hunter about enrolling in classes. I passed my entrance exam with flying colors and enrolled in their four-week course. I paid off my tuition before classes started. Something came over me before starting that kept saying "I'm going to be a failure" and that I shouldn't bother to go. I called the school to cancel and spoke with Ms. Zabida. She was very strong and shocked about my statement and said she was going to have Ms Hunter call me. I spoke to my husband who told me that a quitter won't win and a winner never quits. Soon after Joy gave me a call and said "Ms. Bucknor you can't quit, you have to reach your goal." I then spoke with one of the directors, Robert. Rob gave me some great advice and we ended the discussion with "Happy Holiday and I will be seeing you on campus next week." It made me so happy to speak with them. The nervousness did not go away because it was a long time since I sat in a classroom chair. I even had difficulty sleeping. But, with the help of my classmates and my instructor Ms. July I succeeded and completed the program with an A average! I want to thank my teacher, classmates, and husband for all the support. Thank you Allen School. I think it is the place to be and if I can do it you will. Thank you all.

BEWARE POTENTIAL NURSING STUDENTS! This is by far the worst school for nursing. I went here for a…read moredegree in health Science / Nursing just to be told by my advisor that there is a high chance I won't get accepted into their nursing program even with a high GPA and that I should look else where. Too many people and not enough seats according to them which is ridiculous. Could it possibly be because they are bringing foreign exchange students from overseas into the nursing program for free which is lowering the acceptance rate for already attending students who pay out of pocket? Why am I coming here for nursing if I can't even get my license here?? If you call the nursing department they either don't answer or have an attitude, providing 0 help. Professors are also unethical, they require you to purchase their books and if you don't you basically fail. I even had some professors, create their own external websites instead of using Brightspace, which has made me and many other students fail their class due to how irrational they were. The school just makes it completely difficult to pursue a nursing degree. Too many people I know are dropping out or have been there for more than 2 years. I was better off applying to a 4 year school. They make you take unnecessary classes for the nursing degree which aren't required at any other college across the country, this prolongs your stay, and if you mess up and get below a C just say goodbye. Any bad grade you get won't get replaced by the new grade if you take the class over. Biology classes are split into two for lecture and lab meaning you have to pay double the price. Many professors in the medical department are very condescending , they hear about you pursuing nursing (which 80% of their students are) and they make it their goal to be spiteful and to discourage you on your journey. Professors, Dr. Philip Costa and Dr. Rosa Ronquillo were by far the BEST professors ever!! Also, im unsure why but most of the English professors in this college are depressed. One of my english teachers made us sit while he read a chapter out of a book he wrote about his personal life and it was so depressing. I'm now going on 3 years here and still haven't graduated, which is pushing me to believe that I should transfer to a 4 year instead that doesn't require all this bs, a school where I can actually attend their nursing program. Although my advisor is wonderful , she has withheld information from me before regarding the classes I needed to take in order to get my degree which prolonged my stay. This leads to my other issue I have with this school, if you don't enroll in high demand courses before a certain time you will not be able to get into any of their classes even if you apply weeks or even a month before the classes starting date. My advisor knows this information so her informing me last minute about classes I need to take is very frustrating . As for other advisors, I have never heard anything good about them. My best friends advisor put him in the wrong major , which he then had to do an additional 2 years. Another classmate (also pursing nursing) told me her advisor told her to just drop out instead of supporting her (she eventually dropped out). I've seen so many of my smartest most intelligent classmates cry over the course of two years because of the stress and classes. I don't give up so easily but if I did I would've been dropped out. I think anyones experience here would be much better than mine and faster if pursuing an easier major with less advanced classes like liberal arts or something. The graduation rate is 24%-30%. If you consider going here for nursing, please consider looking elsewhere. Hope you the best!

I say this because class time hours are over extended to increase funding for faculty pay. There is no reason why 1 class should be 4 hours long where 2 of the hours the professor talks about soccer . Students do not realize how much they are spending at a Community College because they are so focused on their course work. It is more affordable and time effective for students to attend a university. Lets not talk about the IT department. I was having trouble retrieving an unofficial transcript. Brandon was the person assisting me. I was becoming frustrated with the error messages that I was receiving. He began laughing say, "well I didnt have trouble". I told him, "i'm glad you find laughter in my stress". Very unprofessional and useless. Do not spend your funds here. It looks great on the outside, but education is not the focus, its money business.
