He looked forward to going and seemed to have a ball from what I could hear in the waiting room. The teachers did a great job giving him a sense of structure and providing incentives for good behavior. The coordinators, like Taylor, tried very hard to help us with our scheduling requests. While my son ended up doing really well on the G&T exam, I would still be recommending Bright Kids even if he had not just b/c of the positive experience we had with the entire team there.

On his initial diagnostic test, his ability to focus was 'low average' and his frequency of breaks and guidance from tutor were 'often.' Bright Kids did a very good job in preparing my son and teaching him some tricks and test taking skills. Gratefully, my son scored well and is currently attending a citywide G&T school. Our child frequently got different instructors administering the lessons. After each lesson, I would be given a quick recap of what occurred. Later a more descriptive summary report would arrive via email. This was useful in helping me to concentrate in certain areas of weakness at home. Our Account Specialist Taylor was very responsive, he answered emails promptly and was very accommodating with our scheduling issues. The only negative experience we had at Bright Kids was with the Round 2 Hunter playdate. It was overpriced, with 3 sentences of vapid feedback.

Janie, the director/founder of The Study Shack was very helpful and selected a great tutor for my son. The tutor was excellent. She was able to work on building up my sons skills and adapt lessons to suit his learning needs/styles. The Study Shack was a major part of my son's academic success and growth by the end of the year, and also resulted in his excellent state exam scores. They provided a great amount of information about my son's learning styles, the common core standards, and also introduced us to great study habits that we can apply to all subjects. I would highly recommend this company for your tutoring needs.

I worked with my son last summer (2020) to help him prepare for the SHSAT. We made progress, but…read morewe hit a wall after a couple of months. My son was close but not quite up to the level he needed to be to get an offer from any of the specialized schools. He was burned out, and the uncertainty about whether, when, and how the SHSAT would be administered didn't help. It wasn't until mid-January, a little more than two weeks before the test, that my son regained enough enthusiasm to refocus. I got in contact with Ed, and he very quickly set up a short series of private sessions for my son with Adnan. I had my doubts about how much could be accomplished in just a few sessions, but these were put to rest in the first 10 minutes working with Adnan -- it was clear that he had the expertise to quickly assess my son's strengths and weaknesses and make very productive use of the limited time available. After four sessions my son felt a lot more comfortable with material he had been struggling with and confident about his prospects. I was very pleased and highly recommend Antoine Education. (While the test results would not have impacted my review, I decided to wait until the receiving them in hopes of having a better story to tell. We got good news from DOE this past week, and I have no doubt that Adnan's tutoring gave my son the boost he needed.)

All of the City Smarts tutors were excellent -- not just in their expertise and knowledge of the tests, but in connecting with our kids on many levels -- including emotionally and academically. City Smarts takes great care in pairing the right tutor with your child. These tutors were somehow able to inspire our kids to study and do practice tests, on top of an already-demanding school workload. With City Smarts' help, our kids never lost sight of the fact that these tests are just one tool among many in the high school application process. Their whole approach is level-headed and holistic, and they managed to reduce the stress and insanity that the NYC school-search can engender. Separate from their tutoring services, I also recommend their individual consulting in your search for the best schools (private and/or public) for your child. It's not cheap but we found it was money well-spent. They take a real interest in learning about your child and figuring out what will best serve him/her/them. We've sent many friends to City Smarts and they've all been so impressed with their tutors and their kids have all gone on to great schools where they're thriving. We highly recommend City Smarts!

I had almost given up hope of getting my degree, but recently I decided to go back to school to try one last time to pass this last remaining class. I have never been good at math (I am actually terrified of it!) so Dr. Donnelly's calming and patient demeanor was a great help. I felt comfortable and even began to feel confident after my first meeting with him. He is not a "there is just one way to solve a math problem" kind of teacher, if a method didn't work for me, he would find a different way to approach the problem to help me understand it. He actually made the lessons enjoyable! After one month of intensive lessons with Dr. Donnelly, I passed my precalculus class with an amazing 85% and finally got my diploma. I am so proud of myself.
