What a great camp for my children! Both enjoyed the…read moreEducation/sports program. The education classes were perfect---having the campers practice their academic skills without realizing they are preparing for school in September. I spoke with Ms Karen, Ms Carmen, and Ms Jennifer throughout my 8 weeks and all 3 people were helpful. They answered all my questions, gave me updates when I asked, and even offered advice for the new school year. My kids loved their teachers because they came home every day to talk about everything they had done. My son loved playing sports and my daughter loved her counselor/group. I am definitely registering them again for next summer. 5 stars, 10+, 2 thumbs up!!

The "campground" is just…read morea public park with no secure place for belongings, no private restrooms, and no backup indoor location in bad weather despite claims otherwise. Children roam unsupervised, staff are mostly untrained teens, and lunch is either a peanut butter or cheese sandwich unless you send extra money for fast food. My 7-year-old son (ADHD/ASD) was promised support and supervision -- he got neither. Items constantly went missing, leaders ignored repeated requests to help him keep track of belongings, and he came home dehydrated more than once. Activities like arts and crafts never happened, and "swim instruction" was just free play. The bus service was chaotic, with extreme delays, poor communication, and at one point my son's bag (with his AirTag) was left on another bus, causing me to panic thinking he was lost. He also spent hours in wet clothes after a rainstorm. This camp is unsafe, misleading in its advertising, and not equipped for young children or attentive parents. I cannot recommend it to anyone.

This is a great place for beginners and very young kids and birthday parties. My girls have had…read moretheir birthday parties here and have join the gymnastic class for at least 3 years. As the owner says, it's very much a gym style experience with gymnastics theme. However, when I called today to get a better understanding of what levels my girls are now after 3 years, the owner informed me that they are beginners because they take classes on the Saturday and Sunday. And while they do subdivide kids within the class based levels, your kid is just a name and no profile is created about her/him where the owner is able to talk about without having to ask the teachers about it. Any parent education or a clear progression of levels is nonexistent, at least for my kids. If I wanted to gear towards competitive path, I was told that they can't try out unless they take at least 2 classes but usually this was invitation only. No instructor or facility has ever come to me or educated me regarding whether any child should or has the ability to move towards this. In addition, they got my child's information wrong and tells me she should have been recreational level. The owner calls me back to inform me that my daughter was working on back walkover after speaking to the instructor. My daughter works hard and I expect the facility to know my child and to monitoring the progression and also keep the parent informed. So if you child attends on Saturdays and Sunday, you are officially a beginner no matter how long you've been going there. Instructor's are good but how it's run and lack of communication with parents, and even general visibility of progressing the students is really bad.

I attended Magic Day Camp for two summers - first when I was 7 in 2000, and again at age 9 in 2003…read more Looking at their website today, I see they've added some new activities like air trampolines and visits to White Post Farm. Back in my day, it was much more limited: swimming took up about 80% of the time, with occasional trips to a run-down movie theater (where half the seats didn't work) and Adventureland amusement park. The one genuinely awesome activity was visiting this old-school arcade - that place was dope, and along with one kind bus monitor named Melissa, it's the only reason this review gets 2 stars. The camp's unprofessionalism and poor care really stand out in my memory. When I was 9, I had a bad fall that left scrapes all along the side of my face and knocked out one of my teeth - thankfully it was just a baby tooth and not a permanent one. Their idea of first aid? A band-aid and ice water in a plastic glove because they didn't even have proper ice packs. They didn't properly inform my mother about the extent of my injuries, so when I got home, she was shocked. She wrote a lengthy letter expressing her concerns about their negligence. Their response? The next day at camp, they pulled me aside to tell me I had "embarrassed them." I was just a kid who got hurt under their watch - what was there to be embarrassed about? The camp's staffing practices were concerning, to say the least. Instead of hiring qualified teachers or experienced childcare professionals, they filled positions with high school students as junior counselors and a few 18-22 year olds as the lead councelors. I remember overhearing them getting their monthly paychecks, well not overhear we were in an open field just sitting around cause that tends to happen there and then someone came with a whole bunch of envelopes and handed them out to them. I remember one girl received just $430 for four weeks of work, and she was visibly upset. At the time, as a kid, I thought that was a lot of money. Now I realize how absurd it was - less than $500 to watch other people's children for a month? No wonder the care was subpar. They were paying teenagers peanuts to handle significant responsibilities. Most of the bus monitors were incredibly mean to the kids, with one shining exception - Melissa. I still remember her decades later because she was the only one who showed genuine kindness. One counselor convinced a little girl to let her "borrow" her cell phone, then made international calls to the Dominican Republic (imagine that phone bill in the early 2000s!). Another counselor was eventually fired for being consistently cruel to the kids - she was clearly just there for the paycheck. While I see they've added more activities since my time there, my experiences were memorable for all the wrong reasons. Based on my time at Magic Day Camp, I wouldn't send my own children there. The administration seemed more focused on collecting fees than providing quality care and activities for the kids. That old arcade was amazing and Melissa was a saint, but two bright spots don't make up for everything else.
