School itself gets like 2 stars (facilities, cafeteria, amenities). Overall a 3. They have some really great teachers here for the health field, and the tuition is cheap since it's a city school (hence CUNY- City University of New York). The cafeteria has rodents, vermin, and cockroaches. There was a whole article in my school newspaper on how they have so many health violations, and a pending grade due to failing the health code...but I'm not in school for food. I'm in school for my bachelor's degree, which would be more easily obtained if the staff would get there act's together and be a little more organized and prepared in dealing with all the student's needs.

Did I seriously find this in the Physical Education building?!

Not the best school. People just don't have a sense of humor. Does anyone play anything other then basketball and volley ball?

By the end of the day I left in tears. The staff didn't know what they were doing not to mention passive aggressive.

I don't have to tell anyone here that St. John's is a powerhouse University in the New York Metro…read moreArea. There are just so many successful graduates. But the true strength of St. John's is in their Alums. When I graduated during a rough time in the economy, I reached out to some Alums not for direct employment but for input on how to network to get employment in my field. But some Alums went out of their way to connect me with folks they knew were hiring and then I had multiple job opportunities and I was forever thankful. One Alum even contacted me a couple of times over the years to make sure that I was on track or if I needed more contacts. I have asked grads of other schools if they have had similar experiences and I don't hear it from them. My undergrad university does not have the connections as St. John's. I also extended the thanks and brought grads up to my office to see what a day in the work life was like and meet others. Many years later, I even had Alums I met at school events invite me to contact them if I was inclined to make a change. I see St. John's as a place to go to get a serious education and take advantage of all the great connections you can make in the NYC area. It's critical to attend a university in a major city center and start networking early. Thanks again to everyone that did not have to, but reached out to help me like I was family.

In comparison to other colleges I have been to in the area, the facility is clean and well maintained and you can tell that they take steps in caring that everything works as it should. And it is nice that they have a computer lab that offers a space for students to work on coursework before or after class or when they need a computer. There is a virtual classroom there that I have seen in passing that shows a professor teaching from another location but still able to interact with students at the other location. Pretty interesting and can't wait to take a class to see how it works first hand. The staff that work there seem to be friendly and eager to help. I have been able to get my questions answered or directed to where I may find the answers. Even if I was not able to speak with someone there I know that I was able to reach out to one of the other advisors they have and got the help I needed.

I was excited to try this place as they offer cheap swimming classes, so I signed up my 4 year old…read moreson. The main issue we had was that parents are only allowed to watch the first and last class, so we were very uncomfortable with the idea of leaving our child (a very beginner level swimmer) in a class with 7-8 student to one instructor. Although it's helpful for the kids who may get distracted if parents are right there. Another issue was that some of the kids have severe anxiety and are pretty much crying through the entire lesson. You can't really avoid this but it may not be a good idea if your kid is easily influenced by others around him/her. My son started crying after seeing the other kid cry and that pretty much ruined the lessons. I liked that they were understanding to our situation and let us get a refund after we tried the first class. The swimming pool is NOT a heated pool. The room with the pool is temperature controlled and humid but the pool itself is not heated. My son was freezing during his lesson and was visibly shivering the entire time. I think the programs offered by this place is best for those who already know how to swim but want to improve or practice more.

The pool is too cold to keep a toddler there for 40 min without then shivering a few min in. Too many kids a class. Day of last class: a few classes were cancelled because fecal matter was in the pool and they had to disinfect it. I was offered a refund for the 1 class that was rescheduled to a date I was unable to make. My 2 year old son learned nothing. There are too many kids in a class for just 1 instructor and it takes away from the purpose of this class. Disappointed in the results.
