They are so unprofessional and it is so hard to get a hold of them I'm emailing 2 people trying to join classes 1 never answered and Marilyn Holt tells me someone was supposed to been get back to me she'll remind them again.. mind you it's already the 3rd week into classes so now I'm supposed to join and be behind 3 weeks? When I literally signed up the same day classes started. Now I signed up for classes a partial payment plan of $680 gone to waste and it's non refundable don't waste your time they only want your money and don't care for which students join. Then they'll tell you you knew the classes were nonrefundable unbelievable.

Just got a discount deal from living social for the real estate classes in this Queens location…read more The lady from this location claims that the 75 hours real estate sale class I purchased is discounted class, so there is no opening and she doesn't know when there will be an opening. (To my understanding, she just doesn't wanna give me any seat because I am not paying enough) On the same day, my friend purchased the same class in full price automatically got an opening. This is unfair. Seems like this school is only accepting students who pays full price. What confused me alot is that they are listed as one of the location of REEDC available for discount on Living Social, GROUPON... Felt like being scammed. Fortunately, living social is able to give me full refund. Thanks God.

Despite their claims, it is not diverse. Athletes might not want to attend. MMC is far from an athletic school. Expect to pay thousands of dollars a year to be taught by adjunct professors whose resumes aren't long enough to actually fill a page. Unless you don't mind being told how long your guests can stay over, don't stay in the dorms. It's much cheaper to get an apartment anyway. It's the type of school that you have to take the initiative to make the best of, because no one is going to hand anything to you. Do not expect to go to Iona for business and learn anything useful for a career. Now, most expensive private Colleges have premium dormitories. They have 1 building built during this century that they like to show off. The vast majority of their housing is decades old, falling apart, dirty, dingy, and dusty. It's horrendously overpriced. Far more expensive than an apartment and you lose all your rights living on campus subjected to unlawful raids/inspections. The food on campus sucks. They force you to buy a campus meal plan and for what you pay it should be far better. There's a reason they force you to buy the meal plan and it's not "to foster an on-campus community." It's a money grab plain and simple. The campus itself is tiny with very little to offer. The surrounding neighborhood is full of crime with a history of murders at the local high school right next to campus. All in all--tuition should be $10,000/year and dorms $5,000. You're splitting a tiny room 5-10 ways no apartment costs that much...it's a scam! You are paying for a bloated administration that takes exorbitant salaries and accomplishes very little. One of my kids is now at BHSEC Queens; the other graduated from BHSEC Manhattan a few years ago. (I…read moreapologize in advance for any overlap in my reviews.) Bard Queens is the second of its kind, a public high school with an accelerated program that takes 2 years to complete. The second two years are for college-level work (and, indeed, kids graduate after 4 years total with both a HS diploma and an A.A. degree from Bard College). Those 2 years of college credits can be transferred to some 4-year colleges, giving kids who want it a huge savings in both time and money. Kids have to take a placement exam (not the SHSAT) to qualify, but even if you do well, it's hard to say whether BHSEC Queens is for you. It's a small school, and sports are not a huge part of the culture here. It's in an unlovely part of LIC, close to Laguardia Community College and various subway lines but not much else. Writing is very important; you don't have to be a great writer at 14, but you should probably be open to improving in this area. Those are the caveats. The benefits of this school are enormous. The quality of the faculty is extraordinary: Most have PhD's, and they are devoted to teaching teenagers, constantly available to meet with them and provide extra help. The administration is terrific, and the office well run. The building is modern, well kept, and light-filled. The student body is quite diverse and active in a variety of clubs and activities. College counseling is just beginning for my child's class, but things seem pretty organized. The classes are small and most are seminar-style. Lots of discussion, lots of back-and-forth in the classroom, lots of writing (see above). Expectations are high; you're expected to work hard and be intellectually curious. If you want big lectures, multiple-choice tests, and anonymity--forget it. The BHSEC model has expanded to Newark, Cleveland, and New Orleans. Clearly, there's a demand for accelerated HS education. For the right kid, these schools will be life-changing. As with any educational choice, the key is to know yourself.

I felt compelled to write a review for Queens Metro because I know it's a relatively new school and…read moresome parents and kids don't know much about it. First of all, because some people get MELS and Queens Metropolitan mixed up, I want to clarify that they are two completely separate schools. They have nothing to do with one another. There are actually 3 schools on the same campus: a District 75 school (special education), MELS -Metropolitan Expeditionary Learning School (middle school and high school), and Queens Metropolitan High School. They are three separate, independent schools. I didn't know how good Queens Metro was until my child started going there. He's an excellent student, he was in an honors class at Russell Sage and he had a GPA of 97.5 and high state tests scores. Yet, he didn't want to take the SHSAT. We didn't push for it (well...not too much) because we knew that Metro was a good neighborhood school and we were ready to transfer him if things didn't work out. As it turns out, we are gladly surprised that it is better than we expected. We're so happy we made the decision for him to go to Metro; the more we learn about it, the more we like it. Not only the environment is very welcoming and containing for the students and families, but the teachers are top notch! They are highly educated, young, energetic, engaged, good communicators, with high expectations and a passion for teaching. The principal, Ms. Rodriguez Tabone, is pretty new in the school. She is coming straight from Stuyvesant High School, where she used to be the Assistant Principal! This is her second year at Metro and she's making the school better and better. She's an amazing leader, committed to strong academics, making the best of every student and taking the school to the next level. She's bright, approachable and efficient. The school is getting grants and is transforming a trip to Costa Rica (which students can take at any point during the 4 years) into a community service trip. They have several clubs and varsity sports. They have AP and College Now courses. Now, there are kids at Metro who got into Bronx Science and Townsend Harris and chose to come to Queens Metro, and recently kids who were in other Specialized high schools for their freshman year who ended up transferring to Queens Metro because they didn't want to put up with the commute, having a great school in their area. That's how good it is. A lot of kids in the area end up going to the Specialized High Schools. Metro is a great alternative to that. I hear horror stories of kids from other neighborhoods who are excellent students but were not matched to a good school. We are so, sooo lucky to have Metro in our neighborhood

Reuven had great reviews and after 4 months of test prep with him I can see why. He does not use phony gimmicks, but rather teaches you the concept of formal logic from the ground up. He also has proprietary material (which I haven't seen elsewhere) that provides an in-depth explanation of each question type one can expect to see on the LSAT. After he's sure you have a thorough understanding of the fundamentals, he'll provide you with customized material & drill questions for each question type based on difficulty level. My biggest hiccup was with the Logical Reasoning section so we started there. Each week, I received an email with homework for each day which was very helpful when studying and planning. From the beginning to the end of tutoring my score increased significantly. I started in the low 150's and was testing in the high 160's towards the end. Reuven is very down to earth, funny, and extremely flexible with scheduling which was important to me since I work a full-time job and had to travel out of town occasionally. He was also willing to go over any questions I had regarding the test and the general law school admissions process no matter how trivial I thought the question was. I highly recommend his tutoring service and methods. You will not be disappointed. He provides you with the tools to achieve your desired score but you must put in the work. YF
